Attempt to Elude/Motor Vehicle Crash

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office

On Tuesday May 7th, 2019 at 10:40 am, a Patrol Deputy from the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office made contact with a vehicle parked on the shoulder of the roadway in the 1200 block of Stringer Gap Road.  The Deputy observed a male subject slumped over the steering wheel.

The Deputy approached the vehicle and knocked on the window.  The male subject then fled in the vehicle at a high rate of speed running over the deputy’s foot in the process.
The Deputy pursued the suspect until the suspects driving became too dangerous to the public.  The Deputy discontinued the pursuit in the Jerome Prairie area.

While checking the area for the suspect vehicle, the Deputy found it crashed and unoccupied in the 4400 block of Redwood Avenue.  The suspect vehicle had also struck an occupied work van which was parked in a driveway, injuring the driver.

With the help of bystanders, the Deputy was able to locate the suspect and engage him in a foot pursuit.  The suspect was subsequently taken into custody without further incident and identified as Brandon William Measel.  After being checked by ambulance personnel, Measel was transported and lodged at the Josephine County Jail.

The driver of the other vehicle was transported by ambulance to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Anyone with information regarding this incident should contact the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office at 541-474-5123.
