4th of July structure fire in Grants Pass

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety

Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, Fire Rescue Division responded to a single story residential structure fire at 365 Short Street. The first arriving crews found fire on the backside of the structure making its way into the attic space. The crews quickly deployed hose lines to knock the exterior fire down and transition to the inside for a primary and secondary search and gain access to the attic space. The quick action of the firefighters kept the fire from advancing throughout the attic. Fire crews salvaged interior contents to attempt to save as much property as possible.

GPFR was assisted by Rural Metro Fire Department, GPPD and American Medical Response. The fire was mopped up and is under investigation. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians.

Grants Pass Fire Rescue would like to remind everyone to have a working smoke alarm in your home. We also ask that you be fire safe this summer as it will be warm and dry.
