Fatal Crash on Interstate-5 - Jackson County
On Wednesday, July 24, 2019, at approximately 1:45 A.M. Oregon State Police Troopers responded to a two vehicle crash on Interstate 5 (northbound lanes) near milepost 26.
Preliminary investigation indicates that a Honda Civic, operated by Tyler Nelson (25) of Medford, was stopped or traveling slow in the right hand lane for unknown reasons. A Freightliner (commercial motor vehicle) with loaded trailer, operated by Baljinder Singh (45) of Roseville, CA. struck the Honda Civic in the rear of the vehicle pushing it off of the right side of the roadway.
Nelson sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Singh was not injured.
The right lane of Interstate 5 northbound was closed for several hours following the crash.
OSP was assisted by Jackson County Sheriff's Office and ODOT.
