Man Arrested for Attempted Murder After Ramming Motorcycle Riders

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office

On August 22, 2019, at 7:55 p.m., deputies were dispatched to reports of a serious crash near the intersection of SW Blanton Street and SW 175th Avenue in Aloha.  When deputies arrived, they found a 1991 Kawasaki motorcycle in the bushes alongside the road. The motorcycle’s male rider and female passenger were lying in the street with severe injuries. Deputies attended to the two injured individuals until Metro West Ambulance transported them to a local hospital.

Deputies learned the other vehicle involved in the crash had fled the scene. Witnesses described the suspect vehicle as a silver Chevrolet sedan.

The inter-agency Washington Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team (CART) responded to assist in the traffic crash investigation. CART members determined that the force of the impact threw the motorcycle approximately 100 feet.

Investigators determined the driver of the vehicle to be 25-year-old Stephen Matthew Lister. Today, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Mr. Lister for two counts of attempted murder. This afternoon, deputies located Mr. Lister in the 5800 block of SW 170th Avenue. He was arrested at 3:27 p.m. and booked into the Washington County Jail. Bail has been set at $500,000.

Deputies determined that the suspect vehicle was a 2004 or 2005 Chevrolet Malibu (actual vehicle shown in attached photo). Deputies are still looking for this suspect vehicle and are asking for the public’s help in locating it.
