UPDATE: Suspect Identified After Threats with Chain and Knife

The suspect is Christopher M. Hall, 38. He was booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Attempted Aggravated Murder, Kidnap in the First Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Resist Arrest, Menacing, Theft in the Third Degree, and Criminal Trespass in the Second Degree.
Investigators learned during the arrest that, after Hall dropped the knife and tried to run again, a passerby saw what was happening, grabbed Hall, and assisted officers in making the arrest.
While we do not recommend community members become involved in making arrests for safety reasons, we appreciate the assistance and are grateful that no one was seriously injured or killed during this incident.
