OREGON STATE POLICE CHECK SUSPICIOUS OBJECT

Roseburg Police Dept.

On Friday, September 20th, 2019 around 1900 hours a custodian at the Woolley Center in Roseburg found a suspicious item, that looked like a pipe bomb, on top of a trash can near the building. The surrounding buildings were evacuated and Stewart Park Drive was closed between Harvard and the VA gate as a safety precaution.

The Oregon State Police Explosives Unit responded from Central Point and rendered the item safe. No explosives were found inside the item and it appears the item was made for other purposes.

The responsible parties for the buildings were notified that the buildings were safe to reenter at their convenience.

Roseburg Fire Department and Public Works assisted with traffic control.
