Major Crash Team Activation, Life Threatening Injuries, Suspect In Custody

On Tuesday, October 8, 2019 at 10:38 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to eastbound I-84 at the I-205 off ramp on the report of a pedestrian being struck by a car.
Officers arrived on scene and found the pedestrian suffering from life threatening injuries. It appears the pedestrian's car had broken down earlier and was walking away from the disabled car. The pedestrian was transported to a local area hospital and is currently in an ICU.
The driver of the vehicle, 29-year-old Emmanuel Gonzalez-coria (Gonzalez-Coria), remained on scene and was ultimately arrested and lodged into the Multnomah County Detention Center on one count each of driving under the influence of intoxicants, reckless driving and assault in the second degree.
This was the 53rd activation of the Major Crash Team for 2019.
