DCSO IMPLEMENTS TEMPORARY CHANGES TO OPERATIONS

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office

DOUGLAS COUNTY, Ore. - Effective immediately the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is implementing some temporary changes in an effort to reduce some of the risks associated with COVID-19 (Coronavirus). This is being done in an effort to protect those we serve as well as our dedicated staff.

These are the precautionary measures we are taking:
  • Corrections Division: We have a heightened intake screening process and are taking additional sanitary precautions. We encourage inmate visitors to utilize video visitation from any computer equipped with a webcam by visiting www.icsolutions.com in lieu of in-person visitation.
  • Patrol Division: Our deputies are still here to serve you and will still be available 24/7. We are however encouraging them to take additional precautions to reduce the risk potential. This may include taking reports by telephone when circumstances allow.
  • Concealed Handgun Licensing: We are placing a temporary hold on the processing of new concealed handgun license applications which require fingerprints and photographs. Those who have appointments scheduled during this timeframe will be re-scheduled when we resume normal operation and given priority. Renewal applications which do not require new fingerprints and photographs will still be processed.
Members of the public are encouraged to visit www.dcso.com as many answers to questions and forms may be available online. Telephone inquiries may also be made to (541) 440-4450.

We continue to be engaged and work with county and state stakeholders regarding this issue. This situation is very fluid and the temporary changes may be modified. We will always strive to work in the best interest of our community.

We encourage the community to remain calm and to follow the advice of official sources such as Douglas Public Health www.douglaspublichealthnetwork.org  the Oregon Health Authority www.oregon.gov/oha and the Centers for Disease Control www.cdc.gov on what preventative measures you can take.
