Deceased Identified in 4/23/2020 Single Vehicle Fatal Crash East of Springfield

On 4/23/2020 at 3:28 p.m. the Lane County Sheriff's Office received a report of a single vehicle crash on Cedar Flat Road. Deputies and McKenzie Fire and Rescue responded and located a Toyota Tacoma that had gone off the road into a tree and caught on fire. The only occupant of the vehicle was pronounced deceased on scene. It is unknown at this time why the vehicle left the roadway.
The Lane County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death with the Lane County Medical Examiner's Office. The identity of the deceased is not being released at this time as we work to notify next of kin.
Update 4/28/2020: The deceased in the crash that occurred on 4/23/2020 on Cedar Flat Road has been identified as 33 year old Darik Alan Kuta of North Carolina.
