Daily Update Archie Creek Fire Sept. 11, 2020

The Archie Creek fire was discovered September 8, 2020 and is 0% contained. It is currently burning to the northeast of Glide, OR.

Indirect fire line construction will continue on Primary and Secondary planned control lines on all flanks. Direct dozer line construction will continue on West and Southern flanks where practical and where topography will allow.

Moderating winds primarily out of the NW. Even with improving overnight and daytime humidity and light winds, fire behavior will continue to be very active where slope, wind and

fuels align due to the very dry fuels. Highest concern is on the south and southeast flanks of the fire area.

Warm and dry conditions, along with breezy afternoon winds, will persist through the weekend, although smoke may limit daytime highs. Humidity will generally improve over the next few days,especially overnight recoveries, but daytime humidity will remain quite low at higher elevations.

Red Cross shelter established at Douglas County Fairgrounds. Contributing entities include Douglass

County, Red Cross, Douglas County Emergency Management, ODF.

Middle management is critical and needed to ensure that heavy equipment is managed

effectively. Without these resources, heavy equipment might not be utilized.
