Yamhill Co. Sheriff's Office

Yesterday, at about 11:30 a.m., two kayakers reported finding a deceased adult male in the Willamette River near the Hwy. 219 bridge.  This is approximately one mile downriver from Roger’s Landing in Newberg.  The male was recovered by Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol and the Special Investigations Unit who were in the area searching for Thomas Paul Stavrum, who had been missing since the evening of June 26th.  The body was positively identified as Stavrum.

Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office Deputies, with the assistance of Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue, continue to look for the second missing man, Nasiruddin Shaik, who also went missing on the 26th.  He was last seen struggling in the Willamette River near the Wheatland Ferry.  Divers from the Lake Oswego Fire Dive Team have been working the area downriver over the last three days, but Shaik has yet to be located.
