Narrative:


At approximately 10:42 pm on Wednesday October 27th the Coos County Emergency Dispatch Center received an emergency call from a concerned citizen at the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve. This citizen located a female with blood and bruising on her face.

Deputies responded to the scene and located a 43 year old female from North Bend. She had been badly beaten and bludgeoned by her ex-boyfriend, 46 year old Robert Elliott Danford of North Bend. This assault occurred after Robert kidnapped the victim shortly following her shift at the North Bend 7-11. She is the petitioner on a restraining order that prohibited Robert from coming within 150 feet of her.

The victim was able to escape into the woods where she hid for several hours. She sustained significant injuries to her face, eyes, neck, and brain. She was rushed to Bay Area Hospital and shortly after flown to Riverbend hospital in Eugene.

Canine Deputies with the Sheriff’s Office responded and searched the surrounding area; however they were unable to locate Robert, who was at one point armed with a knife. A detective from the Coos County Major Crimes team assisted Deputies on scene with the investigation.

The Coos County Sheriff’s Office currently hold’s Probable Cause for the arrest of Robert Elliott Danford for charges including attempted murder, kidnapping, and assault. The Sheriff’s Office is requesting the public’s help to locate Mr. Danford who has ties to North Bend and the Empire district of Coos Bay. Do not contact Mr. Danford as he is considered armed and extremely dangerous.

Mr. Danford was last seen in the area of the South Slough National Estuarine Research Reserve. He was last seen wearing a black leather jacket, jeans, and a pair of black Croc’s sandals.
