Female suspect who brandished knife at business, entered passing vehicle, arrested

Eugene Police Department

On November 17, at 12:33 p.m., Eugene Police responded to W. 7th and Polk regarding an armed subject. A nearby business reported the female suspect had brandished a knife in their business and stabbed a table before leaving.

As officers responded to the area, information was received that the armed woman had attempted to enter a passing vehicle and the passenger tried to pull the door shut. The female, still armed with the knife, got in the vehicle ultimately and was sitting on the passenger.

Two Eugene police officers were nearby and intercepted the vehicle at Polk and W. 6th Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver, who didn’t know the woman, quickly exited after the car stopped on Almaden at 6th. The female suspect also exited and ultimately complied with officers to sit down. Officers were able to detain the suspect after the passenger safely exited the car and separated from the female.

The female would not provide a name but was later identified as Christine Lynn Alter, age 27. She was arrested on numerous felony charges including Kidnap in the Second Degree, Unlawful Use of a Weapon, and Unauthorized Use Vehicle.
