Albany Police Detective Involved in Shooting

On Wednesday, January 26, 2022, at approximately 6:22 pm members of the Linn Interagency Narcotics Enforcement team (LINE) and other patrol officers attempted to contact and arrest two subjects on multiple warrants. The suspect attempted to use his vehicle as a weapon and rammed multiple vehicles. An Albany detective fired one shot at the suspect in the vehicle but did not hit the suspect. LINE detectives and patrol officers from Albany Police, Linn County Sheriff’s Office and Oregon State Police who were on scene, assisted in the apprehension of the suspects. The incident occurred in the parking lot of Bob’s Family Market at 2515 Geary Street, Albany.

 

The suspect, Kagen Ray Sandoval, age 31, of Corvallis was treated for minor injuries and released from a local area hospital. He is being held on multiple no bail arrest warrants and additional pending charges. The passenger, Jaedyn Suzanna Peck, age 26, of Albany is lodged at the Linn County Jail on multiple no bail arrest warrants.

 

The involved Albany Police Detective assigned to the LINE task force has been placed on Critical Incident Leave, by department policy, and national best practices.  Critical incident Leave is for the purpose of relieving the employee from further field duties while undergoing the emotional stress of having been involved in a critical action and permitting time to conduct an objective investigation into the incident. In this circumstance critical incident leave is not considered a suspension or as disciplinary action.      

 

Investigation into the incident is on going.  The investigation is being directed by the Lebanon Police Department and assisted by the Linn Benton Major Crimes Team.
