SERIOUS INJURY CRASH INVOLVING 7 YEAR OLD BICYCLIST

On 2/22/2022 at 4:24 pm, Officers from the McMinnville Police Department and Medics from the McMinnville Fire Department responded to an injury motor vehicle crash involving a 2017 Ford F150 pickup and a 7 year old male on a bicycle.  The operator of the pickup, a 32 year old male resident of McMinnville, was not injured, remained at the crash location, and is cooperating with the investigation. The 7 year old male bicyclist sustained serious injuries.  He was transported by McMinnville Fire Department Ambulance to an awaiting Life Flight helicopter at the Willamette Valley Medical Center, which transported him to the trauma center at Legacy Emanuel Medical Center in Portland.  This investigation is still active and ongoing. The initial investigation indicates the bicyclist was riding north within the marked crosswalk of Adams Street when he was struck by the pickup travelling west on 2^nd Street.
