GRESHAM POLICE INVESTIGATE WEEKEND HOMICIDE-- ARREST MADE

Gresham, Ore.—Just before 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, Gresham Police responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 18000 block of SE Market St. When officers arrived, they located Daniel Leon Bowers of Gresham with a single gunshot wound to his torso.  Bowers, 57, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital where he later died. 

The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the death Homicide by gunfire. Gresham detectives and members of the East Multnomah County Major Crimes Team were called to the scene and are leading the investigation. 

The alleged shooter has been identified as 26-year-old Gresham resident Kyle Michael James Banry.  After originally fleeing the scene, Banry called police a short time later to turn himself in, surrendering to Portland police officers near SE 122nd Ave. and SE Grant St., Portland. 

Banry has been booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of Murder in the Second Degree and Unlawful Use of a Weapon.
