SWIMMER AT HENRY HAGG LAKE MISSING AFTER GOING UNDER WATER

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office

On Monday, January 25, 2022, at 2:17 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a missing swimmer call at Henry Hagg Lake. Deputies were told an adult male had been swimming when family members saw him go under water and fail to resurface. The Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol was on the lake and responded to the area where the swimmer was last seen. Gaston Fire and Rescue also responded to assist.

Additionally, deputies contacted Lake Oswego Fire Department’s Dive Team and asked them to assist in searching for the swimmer. Firefighters on the dive team, Gaston Fire members, and deputies searched for the missing swimmer but did not locate him.

Due to concerns for the safety of searchers because of the excessive heat, the search was suspended for the evening but will resume in the morning.

The name of the swimmer will be released at a later date.

During the search for the swimmer, Boat Ramp A was closed for several hours. Access to Boat Ramp A will be restricted on July 26, 2022, and deputies ask boaters to use Boat Ramp C.
