TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG BUST

Readsport Police K9'9

On 06/22/22 at approximately 1445 hours, Trooper Napper with the Oregon State Police conducted a traffic stop on a white California plated Honda Civic near the 200 block of Highway 42 in coquille as a result of an ongoing investigation lead by Corporal Snyder, Reedsport Police.

Through the investigation, probable cause was developed that the male owner/occupant was delivering a large amount of illegal narcotics to the Coos Bay area, resulting in the deployment of K9 Penny. K9 Penny was deployed to the exterior of the vehicle and gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics.

A search of the vehicle yielded over 12 pounds of methamphetamine, nearly 1000 counterfeit fentanyl laced oxycodone tablets and a loaded 9mm handgun, making it one of the largest drug bust in Coos County history.

The Reedsport Police Department, along with Corporal Snyder, would like to thank the citizens of Reedsport and beyond for their continued support of our K9 program.

A special thanks to Oregon State Police Trooper Napper for his assistance in this case along with DEA agents out of the Eugene office.
