WANTED SUBJECT ARRESTED, THREATENED TO SHOOT DEPUTY

Yamhill Co. Sheriff's Office

On October 14, 2022, at about 7:30 pm a Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office deputy contacted a vehicle parked at Maud Williamson State Park.  The vehicle was remaining in the park after the park was closed.  The deputy contacted two individuals in the vehicle, who both stated they had no identification.  The female provided a valid name.  An adult male in the vehicle provided multiple different names and personal identifying information to the deputy, none of which could be confirmed as legitimate.

The on-duty sergeant browsed open-source social media using different variations of the names provided by the male subject and located an individual with a name like the name being provided.  A records check of that name showed multiple active arrest warrants out of Yamhill County, including a warrant for being a Felon in Possession of a Firearm.  The deputy on scene was able to verify the subject at the park was in fact the subject with active arrest warrants, identified as Josoph Allen Haney, age 24, with no known address.  A second deputy arrived, and Mr. Haney was told he was under arrest and directed to get out of the vehicle.  Mr. Haney refused to exit the vehicle, so the deputies removed Mr. Haney from the vehicle where he began stating he had a gun.  The deputies controlled Mr. Haney and took him into custody on his warrants, and found he had a loaded .45 caliber handgun in his waistband with the serial number obliterated/removed from the firearm.

While being transported to the Yamhill County Jail Mr. Haney told the deputy that he had planned to “shoot the deputy in the face” during the contact and made multiple statements that he should have shot the deputy and that he wished he had gotten into a “shootout” with the deputies.

Mr. Haney was lodged in the Yamhill County Jail on two outstanding warrants as well as new charges of:

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm by a Convicted Felon

Giving False Information to a Police Officer

Resisting Arrest

Unlawful Possession of a Firearm (Carry Concealed Weapon)
