SHOOTING NEAR JEFFERSON HIGHSCHOOL LEAVES ONE JUVENILE INJURED

A student is being treated for a non-life-threatening gunshot wound after a shooting occurred near Jefferson High School.

On November 14, 2022, at 4:26 p.m., North Precinct officers were dispatched to a local hospital on the report of a walk-in gunshot victim. Officers arrived and learned two 17-year-olds had just left Jefferson High School and were driving near the intersection of North Killingsworth Street and North Haight Avenue at around 3:30 p.m., when the occupant or occupants of another vehicle drove by and fired several rounds at them, striking their car. Fortunately, only one of the students was hit, and they were able to leave the area to seek medical attention. The injured student was shot in the shoulder.

Officers canvased the area and found evidence of the shooting at the intersection of North Killingsworth Street and North Haight Avenue. The Enhanced Community Safety Team (ECST) responded to the scene and is assuming control of the investigation.
