CITYWIDE SCHOOL BOMB THREAT INVESTIGATED

Portland Police Bureau

The Portland Police Bureau is investigating threats to schools citywide, but after a preliminary assessment, there is no reason to believe the threats are credible.

On Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 3:41p, Portland Police responded to a report that multiple copies of an e-mailed threat had been received by multiple community members, and that the message said all Portland schools were the subject of the threat. The threat also included bias language.

PPB officers began an investigation and coordinated with administrators for multiple schools and district offices. PPB also informed the Federal Bureau of Investigation.

PPB requested that school staffs check their properties, and we have received no reports that anything suspicious has been found. PPB continues to ask all schools in Portland city limits to continue to sweep their properties and report anything suspicious immediately. Threats to schools are taken seriously, as are any bias incidents, and the investigation is ongoing.

If anyone has information about the threat or the person responsible, they're asked to e-mail crimetips@police.portlandoregon.gov and reference case number 22-324927.
