HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION IN HOSFORD-ABERNETHY NEIGHBORHOOD

On December 21, 2022, at 10:52 a.m., Central Precinct officers were dispatched to the intersection of Southeast 9th Avenue and Southeast Market Street on reports that a shooting had occurred. Officers located an injured man and immediately began rendering emergency medical aid. This included applying a chest seal. The injured individual was transported to a local hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries. The name of the deceased will be released after cause and manner of death are confirmed, and after close family have been notified. Two individuals possibly associated to the incident have been detained.
Portland Police Bureau's Homicide Unit is responding to the scene to assume control of the investigation. While the investigation is ongoing, Southeast Mill Street will be closed from Southeast 7th Avenue to Southeast 9th Avenue, and Southeast 9th Avenue will be closed from Southeast Mill Street to Southeast Clay Street.
