Search and Rescue Saves Lost Motorist Stranded in Snow

Jackson County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) responded Friday night at 11 p.m to a call for a lost and stranded Sam’s Valley man between Canyonville and White City, Oregon. Douglas County SAR responded to assist due to a portion of the search area being in their jurisdiction. The search continued throughout the night and morning due to the large geographical area. SAR teams carried out the search using 4X4 vehicles and a fixed wing aircraft.

The SAR aircraft located the missing man’s vehicle at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, but he was not near his truck. A SAR vehicle team was quickly redirected to the area where they located the missing man attempting to walk out approximately four miles from his vehicle. The man was cold but uninjured.

Thanks to our JCSAR Team and Douglas County SAR for their hard work and dedication to those we serve.
