Lakeside man arrested after giving a false name to Dunes Deputy on a traffic stop

On Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11:47 a.m., a Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dunes Deputy patrolled the Lakeside ATV Route near Airport Way and N. 8th Street in Lakeside, Oregon.

Deputy M.R. Smith observed a white Ford van conduct a traffic violation on Airport Way and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle. The passenger quickly exited the car and walked away from the traffic stop. The driver stated he did not have an Oregon-issued identification with him. The driver also noted that the vehicle was his; however, he had no legal paperwork.

The driver provided false information to the deputy by name and date of birth.  Deputy M.R. Smith exhausted all avenues to identify the driver and eventually arrested him for failing to carry and present a license.

The driver was removed from the vehicle, placed in handcuffs, and was being walked to the patrol vehicle when he admitted he was James T. Kissinger (48) of Lakeside. Dispatch conducted a record check on Mr. Kissinger, revealing he had multiple warrants outstanding for his arrest. Dispatch further advised that Mr. Kissinger’s driving status was suspended misdemeanor.

Mr. Kissinger was transported to the Coos County Jail, where he was booked and later released on the warrants. Mr. Kissinger was also issued citations for the crimes of DWS misdemeanor, failure to carry and present, and giving false information to a police officer.
