Attempted Murder Suspect Arrested
On August 9th, 2023, at approximately 2:30 AM, an adult male was robbed at gunpoint near Dairy Creek Park located at 517 SW 17th Avenue in Hillsboro. The victim attempted to flee on foot but was shot by the suspect as he ran, causing an injury to the victim’s face. Nearby witnesses rendered aid to the victim and the suspect fled in a vehicle. The victim was treated and later released from a local hospital.
Detectives with the Hillsboro Police Department were able to identify the suspect using surveillance camera footage from local businesses and residences. On August 16, 2023, 25-year-old Daniel Morales was arrested and lodged in the Washington County Jail on charges of Attempted Murder, Assault in the First Degree, Robbery in the First Degree, and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Hillsboro Police Detectives were assisted by the Washington County Tactical Negotiations Team and the Clackamas County SWAT Team during the apprehension of Morales.
