GRESHAM POLICE INVESTIGATING FATAL PEDESTRIAN INVOLVED TRAFFIC CRASH

Gresham, Ore.—A pedestrian involved traffic crash resulted in Gresham’s 15th traffic fatality this year. Shortly after 5:15 p.m., Gresham police officers and medical personnel responded to a report of a traffic collision involving a vehicle and pedestrian in the 1900 block of SE 182 Ave. An off-duty paramedic was nearby and provided initial medical care for the pedestrian. Despite the efforts of the paramedic and additional medical responders, the pedestrian died as a result of the injuries she sustained from the collision.

The pedestrian was not using a crosswalk while crossing the street at the time of the crash. The driver of the vehicle remained and the scene and is cooperating with the investigation. Officers shut down traffic on SE 182 Ave. between SE Division St. and SE Main St. for the investigation. The East Metro Vehicular Crimes Team (VCT) responded to investigate the crash. They are working to determine if speed and impairment were factors in the collision. No arrests have been made and traffic on 182 Ave. was re-opened at 8:00 p.m.
