Missing Man Found Alive In A Dry Well
A Bend man who was reported missing on Dec. 25 was found alive Wednesday afternoon in a dry well inside a gated storage unit site several blocks from his home.
Officers responded to a welfare check at approximately 5:36 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 25 for 34-year-old John Michael McLerran, who had walked away from his home in the 800 block of NE Norton Avenue to get a coffee and never returned. McLerran did not take his wallet or identification with him.
At approximately 3:07 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 27, a community member called 911 to report that he’d found McLerran stuck about 6 feet below street level in a dry well in the parking lot of Norton Street Storage. Bend Police and Bend Fire & Rescue responded to the scene and were able to extract McLerran from the drain. He was transported to St. Charles Bend for evaluation, but in good condition.
