PEDESTRIAN DIES; POLICE ASKING FOR TIPS IN HIT-AND-RUN

Gresham, Ore.—A 72-year-old pedestrian who was struck by a hit-and-run vehicle has died from his injuries. Randolph James Stitt, 72, was struck by a vehicle on SE Stark St. at 192 Ave., on Nov 24. Witnesses reported that the vehicle fled northbound on 192 Ave. at a high rate of speed. Officers and medical personnel tended to the victim, who had been thrown nearly 70 feet from the impact of the crash. The victim was transported to an area trauma hospital and he succumbed to his injuries on Dec. 20.

East Metro Vehicular Crimes Team members are investigating the crash. They are asking for the public’s help in locating the suspect and vehicle. The vehicle was described by witnesses as an SUV, possibly mid-size, that is light in color. The vehicle should have front end damage as a result of the crash.
