In early 2025, the Eugene Police Street Crimes Unit began investigating illegal narcotics delivery involving 39-year-old Eugene resident Anthony Miro Latin and 41-year-old Christina Amber Schmisek. An SCU officer received information Latin was selling fentanyl and methamphetamine from a local transitional housing camp in the 1600 block of West 18th Avenue.

The investigation led to the service of a search warrant in March 2025 at Latin’s residence, a hotel room, and a storage unit. Evidence seized included approximately one pound of powdered fentanyl, nearly $3,000 in cash, a Glock handgun, and evidence of identity theft. On May 5, Eugene Police Patrol officers located and arrested Latin and Schmisek and both were lodged at the Lane County Jail. Latin was found to be a convicted felon and had a firearms prohibition in California. Schmisek also had warrants from another Oregon county.
