ATM Dragged from Gas Station, Safe Stolen and Left in Roadway – Suspects Caught

Klamath County Sheriff's Office

In the early morning hours of June 25th, 2025, a U-Haul van was used in a bold string of burglaries across Klamath County, starting around 3:00 AM. The suspects first attempted to steal an ATM from the Fastbreak Gas Station in Keno by dragging it with a tow strap attached to the van.

Roughly 20 minutes later, the same van was caught on video at Worden Cafe off Hwy 97S. Two suspects exited the van and tried to break in but fled when the alarm activated.

At approximately 3:50 AM, the van was seen again at the Midland Store and Post Office. Three individuals broke into the Post Office, stealing a safe and bags of mail. The suspects attempted to tow the safe away, but the strap broke and the safe was abandoned in the roadway.

Thanks to quick investigative work, the U-Haul van was traced back to a rental from Klamath Falls. It was found and surveilled by Sheriff Shane Mitchell, leading deputies to a residence on Onyx Avenue. Two suspects, Christopher Garrison age 36, and Jesse Shirtcliff, age 37, were located and arrested.

Evidence at the scene—including matching clothing, stolen cigarettes, trading cards from another burglary, and illegal firearms—linked both individuals to this crime and at least 13 other burglaries.

Garrison, a convicted felon, was found in possession of weapons. Shirtcliff was seen wearing identical clothing from the surveillance footage and has a distinctive limp matching one seen on video.

We appreciate the diligence of our deputies and Sheriff Mitchell in quickly identifying and apprehending the suspects. This is an ongoing investigation.
