Off Duty Deputy Arrested for DUII, False Kidnapping Report Under Investigation

Klamath County Sheriff’s Office

Date: June 7, 2025

In the early morning hours of June 6, 2025, at approximately 1:32 AM, Deputy Jacob Brandt of the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office called 9-1-1 from the Pilot Travel Center located at 3817 Hwy 97 in Klamath Falls, OR. Deputy Brandt reported he had been kidnapped at gunpoint by three Hispanic males and claimed he had been sent into the store by the suspects to retrieve snacks.

Officers from the Klamath Falls Police Department, Oregon State Police, and Klamath County Sheriff’s Office responded immediately and conducted a search of the area. No suspects matching the description were located. Surveillance footage from the business was reviewed, and discrepancies in the report led to further investigation.

Deputy Brandt was determined to be under the influence of alcohol and subsequently arrested for Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants (DUII). He was transported to the Klamath County Jail where he was later cited and released for DUII.

Due to current state-imposed jail capacity limits, Deputy Brandt was cited and released at the jail.

The allegation of Initiating a False Report remains under active investigation.

The Klamath County Sheriff’s Office holds its members to the highest standards of conduct. Deputy Brandt was immediately placed on administrative leave. This incident is being taken seriously, and appropriate administrative actions will follow based on the outcome of the investigation.
