Murder Suspect Remains on the Run

Medford Police Cristian Lamberto Barboza-Valerio, 21 years old, remains outstanding from the January 15th, 2022, shooting death on Pennsylvania Street. There is no known vehicle associated with him. He has been known to frequent the Cave Junction area in Oregon, as well as Pittsburg, Marysville, and San Francisco, all of which are cities in California. He is further described as 5'6" tall and 180 pounds.  The victim has been identified as Adriana Paulina Mendoza-Lopez, 39years old, who was the stepmother of the suspect. Overdose Leads to Dealer's Arrest

Medford Police On January 21st, 2022, the Medford Area Drug and Gang Enforcement team (MADGE) became aware of a near fatal overdose of a local woman, who was hospitalized for several days. The suspected drug involved was fentanyl. The investigation led MADGE to Brian Dee Forbes, 52 years old, who resides in the 1900 block of Homeview Drive, Medford. On January 28th, 2022, MADGE executed a search warrant on the residence and arrested Forbes, who was found in possession of just under 70 grams of fentanyl, a small amount of heroin, 30 pounds of marijuana, and a firearm. Forbes is facing numerous charges, included Felon in Possession of a Firearm, as he is a convicted felon.  Fentanyl is now the illicit drug of choice in the Rogue Valley, essentially replacing heroin. SOLVED: Serial Killer Cold Case

Eugene Police Department On June 5, 1986, at approximately 2:42 p.m., Eugene Police and Eugene Fire Medics responded to an apartment at 255 High Street regarding deceased person Gladys May Hensley, age 62, who was located during a welfare check by an apartment employee after she had not been seen for several days. The investigation revealed that the death of Hensley was a murder and that it was likely that she was killed in the early hours on June 4, 1986. Police were unable to locate the involved suspect, however, similarities in the murder and evidence at the scene connected the suspect with two additional murders, one that occurred in the same month and the other in February 1988.     Hensley`s murder was connected to the June 19, 1986 murder of Janice Marie Dickinson, investigated by the Eugene Police Department, and the February 28, 1988 murder of Geraldine Spencer Toohey, investigated by the Oregon State Police. Suspect Arrested for Rape, Sex Abuse, Assault of Elderly Central Point Woman

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case 22-0535 CENTRAL POINT, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies took a report of a rape and assault of a woman in her 70s that occurred late Saturday night at her home on Blackwell Road. Her son, who lives nearby, confronted the suspect and he fled the scene. JCSO deputies arrived to investigate and the victim went to an area hospital for a Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) exam.   The suspect was known to the victim and was contacted and taken into custody. Based on the evidence, Michael Dean Gates, 62, of Central Point, was lodged at the Jackson County Jail for first degree rape, first degree sexual abuse, and fourth degree assault. His bail is set at $400,000. Investigations are ongoing. Further information will come from the Jackson County District Attorney’s office.

18-Year-Old Eagle Point Woman Arrested for Attempted Murder, Assault in White City Stabbing

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case 22-0539 WHITE CITY, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies responded to a fight between two males Sunday night at 10:23 on the 7400 block of Gladstone Avenue in White City. When deputies arrived, they spotted the victim walking along Avenue A covered in blood. Upon closer inspection, deputies discovered multiple lacerations on the victim’s abdomen. JCSO deputies applied pressure to the wounds until Mercy Flights medics arrived and took over life-saving measures. The victim underwent surgery at a local hospital and is in stable condition. During the altercation, a female suspect allegedly stabbed the victim multiple times with a small pocket knife. The suspect, Samantha Kay Dietrich, 18, of Eagle Point, is in the Jackson County Jail charged with attempted murder, two counts of first degree assault, and two counts of second degree assault.  JCSO detectives are investigating with grand jury scheduled for Thursday. GRESHAM POLICE SEARCHING FOR MISSING ADULT

Gresham Police Dept UPDATE Shortly after Mariano “Dan” Lucerne went missing this afternoon, he returned home and is safe with family. The Gresham Police Department thanks everyone who helped look for him.  Gresham, Ore.— Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 77-year-old man who is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s. Mariano “Dan” Lucerne left his home in the 2000 block of NW Bella Vista drive in Gresham, on foot, at around 1:15pm this afternoon. He has brown hair and was last seen wearing a black Vietnam Veteran baseball hat, dark blue windbreaker, and blue jeans. He is approximately 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighs 180 pounds. Dan does not have a cell phone with him, and his family does not know where he would go. Anyone who knows of Dan Lucerne’s whereabouts is asked to call non emergency police dispatch at 503.823.3333.

FATAL CRASH ON JOHNSON RANCH ROAD-DESCHUTES COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Monday, January 31, 2022 at approximately 9:07 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Johnson Ranch Road, a half mile south of Sterns Road.  Preliminary investigation revealed Lisa Peaslee (50) of Bend fled from a Deschutes County Sheriff’s Department Deputy who was stopping the Toyota Scion for violations. During the ensuing pursuit the Toyota Scion crossed over southbound lane of travel and struck a rock embankment on the southbound shoulder. The vehicle rolled and came to rest in the roadway. Peaslee sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.  OSP was assisted by Bend Police Department and Deschutes County Road Department.  Johnson Ranch Road was closed for approximately 7 hours while Oregon State Police and Bend Police Department Collision Reconstruction Units investigated the scene.

FATAL CRASH ON HWY 34-LINN COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Sunday, January 30, 2022, at approximately 7:42 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on Hwy 34 near milepost 16 west of Denney School Road.  Preliminary investigation revealed a pedestrian, identified as Lanny R. Aerni (71) of Lebanon, was in the lanes of travel when he was struck by a westbound white Chevrolet Astro Van, operated by Colby D. Montigue (22) of Sweet Home. Aerni was collecting debris from the roadway at the time of the crash.  Aerni sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. OSP was assisted by Linn County Sheriff’s Office and ODOT.
