GRESHAM POLICE INVESTIGATE EARLY MORNING HOMICIDE

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— Shortly after midnight, Gresham Police responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of the Rockwood Plaza, in the 2400 block of SE 182 nd  Ave. When officers arrived, they located a 28-year-old man, who had an apparent gunshot wound. Officers quickly secured the scene so medical responders could care for the victim and transport him to an area hospital. The victim later succumbed to his injuries and died. Gresham Police detectives and members of the East Multnomah County Major Crimes Team (MCT) responded and are investigating the incident as a homicide. AMITY MAN ARRESTED FOR SEXUAL ABUSE

Yamhill Co. Sheriff's Office On March 9, 2022, at about 2:30 pm Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office arrested Deedar Singh, age 24 from Amity, OR on a warrant charging 21 counts of Sexual Abuse in the 3 rd  Degree.  The warrant stemmed from a months’ long investigation done by Deputy Jonathan Summers who is assigned to work in the city of Amity.   Deputy Summers identified multiple adults who reported unwanted sexual contact while at the Amity Market where Mr. Singh works.  The case was presented to a Yamhill County Grand Jury which resulted in the warrant being issued.    Based on the nature of conduct reported by the victims in this case and the fact Mr. Singh had daily contact with individuals in the market, the Sheriff’s Office believes there could be additional victims in this case.  If you have additional information related to this investigation, please contact Deputy Jonathan Summers at 503-434-6500 or  summersj@co.yamhill.or.us .

HEROIN/FENTANYL ARREST

Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team (DINT) During the late night hours of Wednesday, March 9th, 2022, detectives with the Douglas Interagency Narcotics Team made an arrest of a local man on suspicion of several drug related crimes.     At approximately 11:00 PM, 33 year old Roseburg resident Alex Childs was detained by Roseburg Police pursuant to a traffic stop in the 400 block of SE Stephens St in Roseburg. At the same time, DINT detectives were executing a search warrant at Childs' residence in the 500 block of W. Umpqua Street, also in Roseburg.   A search of Childs' residence revealed dealer level quantities of drugs.  Detectives located approximately 94 grams of suspected heroin, and approximately 80 grams of suspected fentanyl.     Childs was lodged at the Douglas County Jail on the following charges: Unlawful Possession of heroin Attempted Delivery of Heroin Unlawful Possession of Schedule II Controlled Substance (Fentanyl) Attempted Delivery of Contr...

UPDATE: ARSON ATTACK OF TENT IN GRANTS PASS PARK

Grants Pass Police Department Grants Pass, Ore. – After previously releasing limited details on this case, the Grants Pass Police Department is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the arson suspect captured on video during and after the crime that occurred on March 1 st . After lighting the fire the suspect ran from Baker Park toward the intersection of E. Park St and Grants Pass Pkwy. Anyone having knowledge of the suspect’s identity or having captured additional residential surveillance video of the suspect is asked to contact Grants Pass Police Detective Lohrfink at 541-450-6260. On Tuesday afternoon, March 1 st , a hooded subject threw a flaming liquid substance onto a tent in Baker Park belonging to an unhoused person. Inside the tent was an unsuspecting victim who was not seriously harmed by the attack and was able to escape the flames and call 9-1-1. BURGLARY SUSPECT IDENTIFIED AND ARRESTED

Sheriff's Office On February 3 rd , 2022, just after 2:00am, a male entered the Applegate Church of the Nazarene and stole several items.  He returned about an hour and a half later and stole even more items.  In all, the male stole approximately $1,500 worth of property from the church. Surveillance video captured images of him and his truck during the burglary.  The same male returned on February 15 th  to steal more property.  Deputy Schwanke was assigned to investigate the burglaries. On February 18 th , Deputy Mike Hudson contacted the occupant of a white Dodge Dakota pickup in the Veneta area.  The occupant was identified as 49 year old Wayne Anthony Eldridge.  Eldridge’s involvement in the burglaries was not clear at that time.  Following this contact, Deputy Schwanke and Deputy Hudson were able to work together and determine that the male depicted in the burglaries was the same male that had been contacted and identified as E...

SUSPECT SENTENCED TO PRISON FOR MURDER IN THE 1ST DEGREE

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office Today, 47 year old James Lynn Holt was sentenced for the 2019 murder of his then 87 year old grandmother, Sally Baldwin.  On April 5 th , 2019, Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to Sally Baldwin’s residence in Creswell after receiving the report of an injured person.  Responders arrived to find that she had been severely beaten and was unable to provide much of a statement as to what happened. Responders found a door to her house had been kicked in and some of her personal belongings were scattered about. Sally was transported to an area hospital, but passed away in the days to come as a direct result of her injuries obtained in the assault. Sally’s grandson, James Lynn Holt, was identified early in the investigation as a suspect.  Numerous items of evidence were able to link him to the crime scene and murder.  He was located on April 9 th , 2019, and taken into custody.  After Sally passed away, he was formally charged...

Oregon State Police Officer Involved Shooting On Interstate 5

Medford Police Dept.   On March 6, 2022 at approximately 3:16PM, an Oregon State Police Trooper attempted to stop a reckless vehicle southbound on Interstate 5 at mile-marker 53. The vehicle eluded and reached speeds of 120mph before colliding with another vehicle at mile-marker 50. The crash disabled the suspect vehicle, which came to a stop on the shoulder adjacent to the fast lane. The initial investigation indicates, the suspect, who has not yet been identified, exited his vehicle armed with knives in both hands and began to advance on the Trooper. The suspect was given several commands to stop and continued to approach the officer in an aggressive manner and was subsequently shot at close distance. The unidentified suspect, who is a male adult in his 30's, was transported to a local area hospital and is receiving treatment for his injuries. GRESHAM POLICE INVESTIGATE WEEKEND HOMICIDE-- ARREST MADE

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.—Just before 5:15 p.m. on Saturday, March 5, Gresham Police responded to reports of a shooting in the parking lot of an apartment complex in the 18000 block of SE Market St. When officers arrived, they located Daniel Leon Bowers of Gresham with a single gunshot wound to his torso.  Bowers, 57, was taken by ambulance to an area hospital where he later died.  The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office has ruled the death Homicide by gunfire. Gresham detectives and members of the East Multnomah County Major Crimes Team were called to the scene and are leading the investigation.  The alleged shooter has been identified as 26-year-old Gresham resident Kyle Michael James Banry.  After originally fleeing the scene, Banry called police a short time later to turn himself in, surrendering to Portland police officers near SE 122 nd  Ave. and SE Grant St., Portland.  Banry has been booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center ...
