Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On September 1, 2022, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office conducted a child predator sting where police used a variety of social media platforms to pose as underage boys and girls. The people contacted the undercover investigators online and offered to meet a person they believed to be a child for sex. When the people arrived to meet the child, they were instead contacted by law enforcement and arrested. During the mission, multiple people immediately ended their conversations once they learned the person they were talking to identified as a minor. The Sheriff’s Office regularly conducts undercover operations, both full-scale stings and day-to-day chats, targeting child predators. Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On 09/01/22 at approximately 8:30pm, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office was advised of an endangered missing person from the Dorena / Cottage Grove area.  Deputies learned that 88 year old Nancy Peschel departed her house at around 10:00am and has not yet returned.  Peschel has multiple medical issues to include dementia. Peschel is described as a white female adult with white hair and brown eyes.  She is described as being quite frail at approximately 5’00” tall, and weighing about 75lbs.  She was last seen wearing a blue dress and glasses.  She departed in a tan or silver 2010 Chevrolet Impala bearing OR Plate #421HES. Peschel’s direction of travel is unknown, however it is possible that she headed in the direction of Myrtle Point, OR.  Anyone with information regarding her whereabouts is asked to contact the Lane County Sheriff’s Office at 541-682-4150 opt. 1. 

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office RURAL JACKSONVILLE, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) SWAT team responded to a black-market cannabis growing and processing facility early Wednesday morning to assist Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) detectives in serving a search warrant. Homeland Security Investigations (HSI) assisted due to concerns of forced labor trafficking and substandard living conditions. IMET utilized the JCSO SWAT team after investigations determined an elevated threat level due to the property’s connection to a drug trafficking organization.   The marijuana grow and processing facility on the 6000 block of Carberry Creek Road near Applegate Lake in Rural Jacksonville contained approximately 32,546 black-market marijuana plants, 148,900 lbs. of processed illegal cannabis, 6.6 lbs. Forest Grove Fire & Rescue This afternoon at 2:47pm, Forest Grove Fire & Rescue was dispatched to a reported brush fire on SW Spring Hill Road near Sandstrom Road, in rural Washington County. Crews arrived shortly after to find fire burning on both sides of Spring Hill Road. One side was a ditch line/hill close to a house and the other was a large recently cut wheat field. As firefighters arrived on scene, they began to fight the growing fire. They quickly extinguished the fire near the house and concentrated all efforts of the burning field. A moderate wind allowed the fire to spread quickly in the dry field, additional resources were needed and incident command called for a 2 nd  Alarm.  It took firefighter over an hour to stop the forward progress of the fire. They received help from a neighboring farmer, they “disked” the field with farm equipment. This created a dirt area around the fire, essentially burning itself out. The westbound freeway is now open. OR 245 southwest of Baker City and OR 204 (Tollgate Highway) remain closed eastbound to all but local traffic, as they are not a viable detours for freeway traffic. Douglas Forest Protection Association Douglas Forest Protective Association (DFPA) has initiated an aggressive attack on an estimated 3–5-acre wildland fire, located about 7 miles north of Glendale, OR, near Martin Creek Road. Current resources include 3- helicopters, 1-fixed wing air attack, 4 engines, 1 dozer, and a 5- person crew with more on order.  Helicopter bucket drops are making sufficient progress knocking the fire down. Crews will continue aggressive extended attack throughout tonight and tomorrow. Updates will be posted when more information becomes available.  At this time, the fire is not a threat to structures or homes and is located on private timberland.

Oregon Department of Human Services (Salem) – The Oregon Department of Human Services (ODHS), Child Welfare Division, asks the public to help find Chloe Brinegar, aged 15, who uses she/they pronouns, and is a child in foster care who went missing from Cottage Grove, Oregon on Aug. 9. Oregon State Police On Tuesday, August 30, 2022, at 5:55 PM, Klamath County 911 received a report a female had just been shot at 12009 Clovis Drive.  Klamath County Sheriff’s Deputies and Oregon State Police Troopers responded and located Shannon Renee Cobillas-Graham (41) and Robert Lee Cudo (63) deceased in the yard at 12009 Clovis Drive. The Klamath County Major Crime Team was activated to investigate the incident. Preliminary investigation indicates that Shannon Renee Cobillas-Graham was shot and killed by Robert Lee Cudo, then Mr. Cudo died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound. This investigation is ongoing.  The Klamath County Major Crime Team consists of the Oregon State Police, the Klamath County Sheriff’s Office, the Klamath Falls City Police Department, Klamath County Community Corrections, and the Klamath County District Attorney’s Office

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On August 30, 2022, the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) executed four search warrants between the 5300 block and the 5700 block of Rockydale Road in Josephine County regarding illegal marijuana grow sites. The search warrants were executed with the assistance of Josephine County Code Enforcement, Rogue Area Drug Enforcement (RADE), Oregon State Police Southwest Region Drug Enforcement Section Team and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF). During the execution of the warrants approximately 2 , 700 growing marijuana plants were seized and destroyed.  In addition to the growing marijuana plants, approximately 90,000 pounds of processed marijuana was located in multiple outbuildings. Two firearms and $3 , 500 were also seized.  The properties also had multiple electrical, water and solid waste code violations. Oregon State Police On Tuesday, August 30, 2022 at approximately 12:42 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers responded to a report of a deceased individual located on southbound Interstate 5 near milepost 253.  Preliminary investigation revealed a pedestrian, identified as Cassandra Sullivan (35) of Salem, was struck by a vehicle. Sullivan sustained fatal injuries and was discovered by a litter crew on the shoulder of the road. It is believed that she was struck sometime during the evening of August 29 or the morning of August 30. OSP investigators are seeking public assistance in locating the vehicle that struck her. The suspect vehicle is believed to be a: Subaru: 2012-16 Impreza, 2013-2017 Cross Trek or a 2014-2018 Forrester  crystal white pearl in color damage to the right front was traveling southbound on Interstate 5 on evening of August 29 to morning of August 30, 2022. Sheriff's Office On August 29, 2022, the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) with the assistance of Josephine County Code Enforcement, executed a search warrant in the 17,000 block of Redwood Highway in Josephine County regarding an illegal marijuana grow site. During the execution of the warrant approximately 100 growing marijuana plants were seized and destroyed.  The property also had multiple electrical, water and solid waste code violations. These violations could result in the civil forfeiture of the property.  The primary suspect was not located during the execution of the warrant. The charges listed above are the charges the primary suspect will be facing based on the evidence located.  At the time of this press release the investigation is ongoing and no further details are being released.
