SALEM POLICE RESPOND TO TRAIN VS. PEDESTRIAN INCIDENT

Salem Police Dept. SALEM, Ore. — At 7:52 p.m. on January 21, 2026, officers were dispatched to a train versus pedestrian incident near the tracks at Rural Avenue SE and 13th Street SE.     Officers arrived on scene quickly and located the victim, a 31-year-old woman from Salem, who had suffered significant injuries. She was transported to Salem Hospital by Salem Fire medics, where she is receiving continuing care for her injuries.     Union Pacific Police have been notified of the incident and will be taking over the investigation. All further inquiries should be directed to them.  

TWO PORTLAND POLICE OFFICERS SHOT

Crime Stoppers of Oregon The Portland Police Bureau, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is requesting the public’s assistance in identifying and locating a suspect involved in the shooting of two Portland Police officers.   On the evening of January 19, 2026, officers responded to reports of a subject making threats with a weapon in the area of NE 21st Avenue and NE Clackamas Street, in Portland, Oregon. During the encounter, the suspect fired multiple shots at officers. Both officers were struck and later transported to a hospital for treatment and are currently listed in stable condition.   The suspect is described as a Caucasian male in his mid-30's, facial hair, black baseball cap, black jacket over a gray hooded sweatshirt, black pants, and black shoes. WOMAN ARRESTED IN STABBING CASE

Grants Pass Police Department On January 21, 2026, at about 8:30 p.m., the Grants Pass Police Department received a 911 call at a residence in the 1000 block of NE A Street.  The 911 calltakers heard a disturbance in the background while on the phone with the resident.  Patrol units responded to the scene and discovered the 39-year-old male had been stabbed in the upper body.  Grants Pass Fire/Rescue and American Medical Response personnel responded to provide medical treatment before transporting the male to Three Rivers Medical Center.  The male had significant injuries and is expected to recover.   Due to the seriousness of the case, the Grants Pass Major Crimes Unit assumed responsibility for the investigation around 9:00 p.m.  The detectives worked throughout the night until past 5:00 am to ensure a timely and effective investigation.  As a result of their work, Heidi Smith, a 42-year-old female, was taken into custody.  She was lodged at the...

Corvallis Woman Arrested on Theft and Criminal Mistreatment Charges

Corvallis Police Department  Corvallis, OR  – On January 21, 2026, at approximately 9:48 a.m., Corvallis Police Department detectives served a search warrant at a residence in the 2000 block of SW Kendra Street in Corvallis. As a result of the investigation, detectives arrested  Stacy R. Tindall , age 53, a Corvallis resident. Tindall was arrested on the following charges:   ORS 164.055 – Theft in the First Degree (three counts) ORS 163.205 – Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree (two counts) ORS 165.055 – Fraudulent Use of a Credit Card The investigation determined that over a six-month period in 2025, Tindall unlawfully stole and used government-issued gift cards intended for her disabled clients to purchase food and other supplies.   U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—A man from St. Helens, Oregon, was sentenced to federal prison yesterday for ordering live-streamed child sexual abuse and traveling to the Philippines to engage in illicit sexual activity while working as a firefighter for the Lake Oswego Fire Department.   Kenneth Green, 57, was sentenced to 151 months in federal prison and a lifetime of supervised release. He was also ordered to pay a $50,000 special assessment under the Amy, Vicky, and Andy Child Pornography Victim Assistance Act of 2018.   According to court documents, from 2017 through 2019, Green paid for and received livestreamed shows featuring the sexual abuse and exploitation of children in the Philippines. During the shows, Green gave child sex traffickers in the Philippines specific instructions on how to abuse the children and received child sexual abuse material from the traffickers. DEA Seattle Defendant Admitted Replacing Diverted Drugs with Saline, Impacting Treatment of More Than 200 Animals PORTLAND, Ore.  — Dr. Brenda Brown-Carlson, a Portland veterinarian, was sentenced to 60 months of supervised probation on January 13, 2026, in Multnomah County Circuit Court as part of a plea agreement. Brown-Carlson admitted to diverting controlled substances for her personal use and replacing them with saline, impacting the treatment of more than 200 animals at two veterinary clinics where she was employed. “DEA has a long-standing relationship of trust and partnership with veterinary providers who are authorized to handle and administer controlled substance to care for animals that are sick,” said Robert A. Death Investigation - Cottage Grove

Cottage Grove Police Department  On January 20, 2026 at about 5:30 AM officers with the Cottage Grove Police Department responded to a report of a male who was found on the ground, unconscious and bleeding in the 1500 Block of HWY 99 in Cottage Grove.  When officers arrived, they found an adult male with an apparent gunshot wound.  Officers attempted CPR but the male was pronounced deceased at the scene after medics arrived. Witnesses in the area reported hearing gunshots and seeing an unknown person wearing dark clothing running from the area.  No suspects have been identified or located at this time.  The name of the deceased is being withheld pending notification of next of kin.          This is an active investigation and the Cottage Grove Police Department is being assisted by the Lane County Sheriff’s Office and the Lane County District Attorney’s Office.  If anyone has any information about this investigation, they are asked ...

Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Update -  The missing and endangered 14-year-old boy from the Clackamas area was located safely this morning by the Portland Police Bureau. The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in locating a missing and endangered 14-year-old boy from the Clackamas area. Nathaniel Daniel Laurence was last seen on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at Rowe Middle School in Milwaukie. He did not return to his home near SE 82nd Avenue and SE Johnson Creek Boulevard. Nathaniel is described as approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, weighing 96 pounds, with blonde hair and blue eyes. He was last seen wearing black pants, a black T-shirt, a black jacket, and white Vans shoes. Nathaniel does not have a cell phone, takes critical medications, and has autism. DEPUTIES ARREST TWO JUNCTION CITY MEN STEALING VEHICLES FROM FOX HOLLOW AREA

Sheriff's Office On January 14th at 6 a.m., Lane County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a property in the 32400 block of Fox Hollow Road, south of Eugene, for a report of suspects stealing vehicles. Deputies searched the property and found two men sleeping in a pickup. They appeared to have been in the process of loading one of the victim’s vehicles on to their trailer.   The men were detained. FATAL VEHICLE CRASH - DRAIN

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office DRAIN, Ore.  - The Sheriff's Office responded to a fatal two-vehicle traffic crash on Elkhead Road during the early morning hours of January 14, 2026.    Preliminary investigation indicates a 2001 Toyota RAV, driven by Donald Lawrence Brown, 89, of Drain, was traveling westbound on Elkhead Road when the vehicle drifted into the eastbound lane for reasons unknown. The Toyota collided with a 2025 Mazda four-door sedan driven by 72-year-old Patricia Hail Haley, also of Drain, who was traveling eastbound.    Mr. Brown was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Haley sustained injuries and was transported by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center for treatment.    There were no initial indications that intoxicants were a factor in the crash. GRESHAM POLICE SEARCHING FOR 14-YEAR-OLD WHO DID NOT RETURN HOME FROM SCHOOL

Gresham Police Dept Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance with locating a missing 14-year-old who was last seen leaving Gresham High School with a friend, in the 1200 block of N Main Ave.   Annabella Wimberly left school at 12:40 p.m. today and has not returned. She is described as a White female with brown hair, is 5-feet and 4-inches tall and weighs 140 pounds.  Annabella was last seen wearing a light-colored hoodie and was wearing a teal polka dot backpack. Annabella’s family is concerned about her well-being without supervision.   If anyone has information about Annabella’s whereabouts, they are asked to call 911.

Helicopter Crash – Update 02

Lincoln County Sheriff's Office  On January 15, 2026, at approximately 08:37am, The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office received reports of an unknown crash near the 2800 block of Moonshine Park Rd in Logsden, OR. While enroute, Deputies learned the incident involved a helicopter, which crashed into a cow pasture. The crash did not physically harm nearby structures, individuals, or livestock. There is no ongoing threat to the community. Responders contacted the pilot onsite, who was the sole occupant of the commercially operated Bell JetRanger helicopter. The pilot suffered non-life-threatening injuries and was transported for further evaluation and treatment.  The cause of the crash is still unknown and under investigation. The investigation has been turned over to the National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA).

LANE COUNTY SHERIFF’S DETECTIVES ARREST EUGENE MAN FOR MENACING, SEX CRIMES AGAINST JUVENILES

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On January 6th, 2026, Lane County Sheriff’s detectives were following up on an investigation into the abuse of juveniles in Lane County. They applied for and were granted search warrants related to the case. The warrants were for a residence and vehicles associated with the suspect, Francisco Yandel Gonzalez Martinez, 18, of Eugene.   On January 15th at 7 a.m., detectives stopped a vehicle at Barger Drive and Cubit Street, Eugene. They contacted and arrested Martinez.   Detectives then went to the residence in the 2500 block of Primrose Street, Eugene, to serve the search warrant for the residence. While at the location, a resident was uncooperative. Detectives detained the resident so that they could safely execute the warrant. Once the search warrant was complete, the resident that had been detained was released. Motorcyclist arrested for DUII after crash into vehicle

Eugene Police Department  At 12:28 a.m. on January 11, Eugene Police responded to a crash at Kincaid Street and E. 13th Avenue after a motorcycle rear-ended a sedan waiting to turn at a signal. When officers arrived, they found the involved Honda VT7 motorcycle lying sideways at the back bumper of a Kia K4. When officers contacted the motorcycle rider, 34-year-old Blake David Morgan, they suspected impairment.  After an investigation Morgan was arrested and transported to a local hospital to be medically cleared prior to being transported to Lane County Jail and lodged on charges including DUII (Felony) and Reckless Driving.  The Kia’s 16-year-old male driver and 24-year-old passenger were not injured. 

Bicyclist critically injured in crash at Powers Road and South Business 97

Bend Police Dept.   At approximately 5:26 p.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 14, Bend Police responded to a report of an injury crash near the intersection of Powers Road and Business 97 in SE Bend. Callers reported a vehicle had struck a cyclist.    When officers arrived, they found the cyclist, a 34-year-old Bend resident, with life-threatening injuries. Officers and bystanders performed life-saving care to the victim at the scene before Bend Fire medics transported the cyclist to St. Charles Bend. The driver, 31-year-old Bend resident Samantha Schoene, remained at the scene of the crash and cooperated with officers.      An investigation determined that Schoene was driving a white Subaru Forester southbound on South Business 97 when she ran a red light at Powers Road and struck the cyclist, who was in the crosswalk. Schoene was cited for careless driving that causes an accident....

Lincoln County Sheriff's Office  The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is aware of a helicopter crash near Milepost 3 on Moonshine Park Rd (east Lincoln County). Our team and partnering agencies are currently on-site. The scene is contained and there appears to be no danger to the community. Community members are asked to stay clear of the area while responders assess the situation. More information will be shared as the situation develops.

FATAL CRASH HIGHWAY 154 - YAMHILL COUNTY

Oregon State Police Yamhill County, Ore. (Jan. 15, 2026)-  On Tuesday, January 13, 2026, at 8:43 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Highway 154, near milepost 6, in Yamhill County.   The preliminary investigation indicated a southbound Kia Spectra, operated by Marcel Israel Benavides (35) of Dayton, crossed the centerline for unknown reasons and struck a northbound International commercial motor vehicle and trailer, operated by Jose Armando Perez Torres (26) of Salem.    The operator of the Kia (Benavides) was declared deceased at the scene.   The operator of the International (Perez Torres) was reportedly uninjured.   The highway was impacted for approximately four hours during the on-scene investigation.   OSP was assisted by the Yamhill County Sheriff's Office, Dayton Fire and Rescue, Lafayette Fire and Rescue, McMinnville Fire District, and ODOT.

FATAL CRASH HIGHWAY 58 - LANE COUNTY

Oregon State Police Lane County, Ore. (Jan. 15, 2026)-  On Monday, January 12, 2026, at 8:57 a.m., Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Highway 58, near milepost 40, in Lane County.   The preliminary investigation indicated an eastbound Ford F-250, operated by Aaron Henry Longton (64) of Port Orford, lost control and rolled in the ditch. The roll event ejected the operator and sole occupant of the vehicle.   The operator of the Ford (Longton) was declared deceased after being transported to an area hospital.   The highway was not impacted during the on-scene investigation.   OSP was assisted by Oakridge Fire and ODOT.

DRIVERS RUN FROM TRAFFIC STOPS IN RIVER ROAD AREA TWICE IN A SHIFT, ONE ARRESTED

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On January 12th at 10:46 a.m., a Lane County Sheriff’s deputy initiated a traffic stop of a vehicle at River Road and Greenleaf Avenue, Eugene. The driver stopped and immediately fled on foot, damaging a resident’s property as he ran through back yards. Deputies and Eugene Police responded, set a perimeter, and began searching the area.   The driver was not located, but was later identified as Shane Lyle Clarke, 28, of Eugene (pictured). Clarke also has a warrant for his arrest from the Oregon State Parole Board for Assaulting a Public Safety Officer.   Another driver fled on foot from a traffic stop on Hatton Avenue, Eugene, at 1:30 p.m., initiating a perimeter and search. That driver was later arrested.   Deputies were in contact with area schools during these incidents out of an abundance of caution.   Clarke is described as a white male adult, 5’11” tall and 160 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes.
