Mailbox Thief Arrested, DCSO Provides Prevention Tips

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore. –  Over the weekend, deputies took several reports of mail theft from residential mailboxes, including packages. On Sunday, December 9, 2019, around 9:30 am, while investigating the thefts, a deputy received a report of a female who was looking through mailboxes in the area of Doerner Road near Buffalo Lane. The deputy contacted 21 year-old Kayla Lee Alamprese of Roseburg and found her to be in possession of stolen mail and items. Alamprese was arrested and taken to the Douglas County Jail where she was lodged on 13 counts of Mail Theft. The Sheriff’s Office would like to remind the public of some crime prevention tips so their holidays aren’t spoiled. Consider a residential locking mailbox or renting a post office box. Check your mail daily. RIDDLE WOMAN ARRESTED FOR SEX CRIMES

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office RIDDLE, Ore.  - A Riddle woman was arrested on Thursday, December 5, 2019, on multiple sex crimes against a juvenile male. Deputies served a search warrant at the home of 36 year-old Rheta Leanne Melvin of Riddle last Thursday. Deputies had started an investigation after learning that Melvin had sexual contact with a teenage male. Melvin initially began messaging the juvenile and exchanging photographs of a sexual nature through a social media platform. Melvin and the juvenile made arrangements to meet and had sexual contact. Missing Endangered Infant Located after State-Wide Search

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On 12/8/19 at approximately 8:45pm, Deschutes County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to an in-progress domestic dispute on Shoshone Road in the Deschutes River Woods neighborhood.  While in route, deputies learned that two females had engaged in a physical struggle with the father of an infant child, and fled the residence with the child.  Deputies subsequently learned one of the females, Amber Skeele, was the child’s mother, and the Oregon Department of Human Services (DHS) had removed the infant from her care, placing the infant with his father, due to a recent arrest involving child neglect, which is still under investigation.  Probable Cause was developed for the crimes of Custodial Interference in the First Degree, Burglary in the First Degree, and Contempt of Court.  Deputies conducted an extensive search of the region for the females and their associated vehicle.  Skeele was reportedly from the Eugene area, but other information was

Missing Person Located

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On Friday December 6, 2019 at approximately 1354 hrs, the Josephine County Sheriff’s Office received a report of an unoccupied vehicle located down an embankment on a forest service road south of Takilma by Christmas Tree Hunters. Josephine County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene and confirmed the vehicle belonged to Missing Person, Russell Wilcox.  A deceased male was located approximately 100 ft down the embankment, directly below the vehicle. Due to night conditions and very steep terrain, it was determined a recovery would be unsafe at this time.  On Saturday December 7, 2019 Josephine County SAR – Rope Rescue/High Angle Team responded and recovered the deceased.  At approximately 0857 hrs, the Sheriff’s Office positively identified the decedent as Russell Wilcox and was able to notify next of kin.   Wilcox was reported missing on November 29, 2019 at 2021 hrs after he was last seen driving on Waldo Road with Grants Pass as his des

Junction City Teen Missing and May Be Endangered

Junction City Police On December 7th, 2019 at approximately 9:59 P.M. Kelly Sweaney reported his daughter, Mildred Grace Sweaney, age 17, of Junction City, Oregon as missing.  Mr. Sweaney stated while Mildred seemed to be in a good mood up to the time of her disappearance. Mildred does suffer from depression and as of late has been suicidal.  Mr. Sweaney stated that around 6:00 P.M. Mildred said she was going to go for a walk but has not returned home, nor has she been heard from since.  The Sweaney family is even more concerned because Mildred left her cell phone behind, along with some handwritten notes with concerning content. Mildred is described as 5’5”, 120 pounds with blue eyes, short blonde hair, and has a slim build.  Mildred wears glasses and has multiple ear piercings.  Mildred was last seen wearing a blue baseball cap, a dark greyish/blueish Camp Baldwin jacket, and a dark hoodie sweatshirt.  Anyone with information about Mildred’s whereabouts, or who has additio

Search Warrant Leads to Arrests

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office On December 5th, 2019, detectives and deputies from the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, with the assistance of Phoenix Police Department, executed a search warrant in the 100 block of Northridge Terrace, Medford, Oregon. Investigators found evidence of multiple crimes involving burglaries and thefts in multiple locations in Jackson County. Two suspects were arrested at the search warrant scene. They are: Brandin Gregory McConkey, dob 082784, of the 100 block of Northridge Terrace Medford, OR and Gina Marie Messenger, dob 092589, of the same address. McConkey was lodged at Jackson County Jail on Charges of Burglary I, Aggravated Theft I, UUMV and UEMV. Messenger was lodged on three charges of Identity Theft and one charge of Theft I.

Deputies Seek Information on Transmitted Radio Communications

Sheriff's Office   ROSEBURG, Ore.  - On Monday, December 2, 2019, at 5:09 PM, the Douglas County 9-1-1 Center received a call from a male who reported hearing a female on his walkie talkie radio who reported she had been shot by a male and was in need of medical attention.  Multiple emergency services were dispatched to the generalized area and searched for the reported victim. The caller told dispatchers the female was hysterical and could not provide an accurate description of where she was located.  During the investigation, deputies sent a reverse 9-1-1 to residents in the area asking them to call if they heard or witnessed any type of a disturbance. No additional information was received. Ultimately, law enforcement was unable to locate any victim. "If this incident was fabricated, those involved can be held criminally liable," said Sgt. Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety UPDATE The Grants Pass Department of Public Safety received several tips on the possible location of suspect Scott Murphy. At around 8:45 this morning, a resident in the area of 1050 NE Churchill St reported a suspicious person sitting on the porch of this vacant residence. Patrol officers and detectives responded and arrested Murphy. He is being lodged at the Josephine County Jail on the following charges from this case: Using a Child in a Display of Sexually Explicit Conduct Sexual Abuse I (6 counts) Sodomy I (4 counts) GPDPS would like to thank the public for their awareness and assistance in helping us locate this suspect.
