  Oregon State Police Torres was released from the hospital on November 1, 2020 and was taken into custody by Oregon State Police Troopers and transported to the Douglas County Jail where he was lodged on the following charges: Manslaughter / Recklessly Endangering Another Person / Reckless Driving / Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants / Assault III.

FATAL CRASH ON HWY 38 - DOUGLAS COUNTY

  Oregon State Police On Saturday, October 31, 2020 at approximately 5:15 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 38 near mile post 34.  Preliminary investigation revealed a Honda Odyssey, operated by Jose Torres (40) of Van Nuys, CA.  was westbound when it left the roadway, traveled down an embankment, and rolled. The passenger, Alfredo Valdez-Perez (46) of unknown, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.  Torres was transported by air ambulance to Sacred Heart Medical Center in Springfield. OSP was assisted by North Douglas Fire Department and ODOT.

Two Individuals Charged With Trafficking Large Amounts Of Meth In Eastern Oregon

Williams announced today that an Ontario, Oregon resident, and a Weiser, Idaho resident have been charged with interstate trafficking of methamphetamines and other drugs.             Alma Lorena Pacheco Ortiz, 52, and Victor Gomez Casa 26, have been charged by criminal complaint with possession of controlled substances with intent to distribute, and Pacheco was also charged with possession of a firearm by a person unlawfully in the United States. “Rural communities across Oregon have been ravaged by the effects of methamphetamine addiction” said U.S. Attorney Billy J. OFFICER SHOT BY SUSPECT AFTER FOOT PURSUIT

  Salem Police Dept. Salem, Ore. . ––  On October 29, 2020 at approximately 9:50 a.m., a Salem Police patrol officer was conducting a traffic investigation when the involved vehicle crashed at 17th and Court STS NE. The driver fled from the vehicle on foot. The officer, on foot, pursued the driver into a resident backyard on Court ST NE. Shortly after confronting the driver in the backyard, shots were fired. The officer was struck in the ankle. The suspect was also struck by gunfire and pronounced deceased at the scene. The officer was treated by medical staff and released. As per Salem Police policy, the involved officer has been placed on administrative leave. In accordance with Senate Bill 111, the Salem Police Department has requested the Oregon State Police be the lead investigative agency for the incident. Deputies Seek Whereabouts of Azalea Man Following Pursuit

  GLENDALE, Ore.  - An Azalea man eluded deputies on Tuesday afternoon and now the Sheriff's Office is asking the public for tips as to his whereabouts.  On Tuesday, October 27, 2020, at 3:55 pm, a deputy attempted to stop a blue 2002 Honda Accord when the driver, 47-year-old John Curtis Williams of Azalea, accelerated and lead deputies on a seven mile pursuit.  Curtis lost control of the vehicle and spun out on a dirt road in the 1000-block of McCullough Creek Road. After the vehicle came to rest, Curtis fled from the vehicle on foot and was able to get away.  Deputies are now asking for tips from the public as to Curtis' whereabouts. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Douglas County Sheriff's Office at (541) 440-4471 referencing case number 20-5000. Curtis is described as 5'10'', 218 lbs, black hair and brown eyes. OREGON STATE POLICE REQUESTING ASSISTANCE LOCATING DRIVER INVOLVED IN CRASH - JACKSON COUNTY

  Oregon State Police On Tuesday, October 27, 2020 at approximately 5:30 P.M., Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle rollover crash on Hwy 62 near milepost 37.  Responders located a badly damaged Ford Explorer with no occupants.  It is believed the operator was Matthew Lang (33) of Bend.   Lang has not contacted friends or family since the crash. Jackson County Search and Rescue is currently searching the area for Lang.    Lang is 6 feet tall 185 lbs with brown hair. SHERIFF'S OFFICE INVESTIGATING FATAL TRAIN CRASH INVOLVING PEDESTRIAN

  Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On October 26, 2020 shortly before 1:00 p.m., the Lane County Sheriff's Office received a report of a train crash involving a pedestrian on Jasper Rd. near Mount Vernon Rd. in Springfield.  Deputies responded with Pleasant Hill Goshen Fire and Rescue and located a male near the tracks who was pronounced deceased on scene.   The Lane County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death with the Lane County Medical Examiner's Office. The identity of the deceased has not yet been determined.    Bob Straub Parkway is temporarily closed at Jasper Road as deputies investigate, and is anticipated to be reopened around approximately 4:00 p.m.

MAN ARRESTED ON NUMEROUS THEFT CHARGES RELATED TO LOCAL CAR BREAK-INS

  Roseburg Police Dept. On Monday, October 26th, 2020 just before 0830 A.M., Roseburg Police Officers went to the Howard Johnson motel in Roseburg to attempt to arrest Trask Austin Phelps.  Phelps' probation officer called and reported he received information Phelps was at the motel, and Phelps had an active warrant for his arrest.   When Officers arrived and tried contacting Phelps at the room, he tried going out the back window.  As he was emerging from the window, an officer could see Phelps was holding a handgun in each hand.  The officer challenged Phelps, and tried to Tase him but the Taser missed, and Phelps retreated back into the room.  Phelps then ran out the front door, but the officers on that side no longer saw him carrying any firearms.  A foot pursuit ensued through several yards and businesses in the area and Phelps was eventually caught hiding under a shed on Neuner Street.  Officers challenged Phelps at gunpoint, and he gave up and was arrested without further inc
