Female suspect who brandished knife at business, entered passing vehicle, arrested

Eugene Police Department On November 17, at 12:33 p.m., Eugene Police responded to W. 7th and Polk regarding an armed subject. A nearby business reported the female suspect had brandished a knife in their business and stabbed a table before leaving.  As officers responded to the area, information was received that the armed woman had attempted to enter a passing vehicle and the passenger tried to pull the door shut. The female, still armed with the knife, got in the vehicle ultimately and was sitting on the passenger.  Two Eugene police officers were nearby and intercepted the vehicle at Polk and W. 6th Avenue. A traffic stop was initiated and the driver, who didn’t know the woman, quickly exited after the car stopped on Almaden at 6th. Portland Police Bureau A suspect is facing gun charges after a shooting that took place in front of police officers. On Tuesday, November 16th, 2021 at 7:53p.m., North Precinct officers patrolling near North Lombard Street and North Mobile Avenue saw a man approach a parked vehicle. Someone in the vehicle jumped out and ran away, and the man pulled out a gun and fired a shot at the person running. The suspect then drove away in the vehicle. The officers requested cover and began following the suspect in the vehicle. The suspect crashed near North Farragut Street and North Curtis Avenue, then ran off on foot. Officers investigated and determined the suspect was in a nearby residence. Officers convinced him to come out and surrender, and he was arrested. Lebanon Police Dept. On 11/15/21, at approximately 1449 hours, the Lebanon Police Department received information that a two year old male child was at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital with a serious physical injury.                 It was reported the child was first transported to Lebanon Community Hospital by his mother’s boyfriend on 11/14/21. The child was taken by air ambulance to Doernbecher later that same day. The boyfriend was identified as Patrick Michael Decker (DOB 07/06/95).                   In the information provided to the Lebanon Police Department, the initial explanation for the child’s injury raised suspicion. Lebanon Police Detectives Unit contacted and interviewed Decker at Doernbecher Children’s Hospital. Decker admitted to causing the serious injury. Decker was taken into custody without incident and lodged at the Linn County Jail for Assault in the First Degree and Criminal Mistreatment in the First Degree.                 The Lebanon Police Department has no h

ERIK SHANE ZWEYGARTT CONVICTED ON MULTIPLE COUNTS IN CHILD SEXUAL ABUSE CASE

District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On November 5, 2021, Washington County Circuit Court Judge Erik Buchér found Erik Shane Zweygartt guilty of five counts of using a child in display of sexually explicit conduct and five counts of second-degree encouraging child sexual abuse in a bench trial. Deputy District Attorney Jason Weiner prosecuted the case against the defendant.  In October of 2020, the victim’s mother found a cell phone that she did not recognize in the victim’s bedroom. She examined the device and found explicit videos and photos of the victim as well as information linking the device to the defendant. The mother called police who launched an investigation. Detectives were able to confirm the phone belonged to and was provided by the defendant. They also verified that Mr. Zweygartt was the recipient of the explicit material.  The Washington County District Attorney’s Office wishes to acknowledge the work of the Beaverton Police Department as well

DETECTIVES SEIZE OVER 2800LBS OF MARIJUANA AFTER SUNDAY MORNING BURGLARY

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office On Sunday, November 14, 2021, at just after 6:00 a.m., deputies were dispatched to a property on Labish Garden Road NE near Highway 99E, just north of Salem. The caller reported four people armed with rifles breaking into a shop on the property. When deputies arrived, the unknown suspects fled from the property in two separate vehicles, a gray Dodge Ram and an unknown make white pickup. Deputies pursued the white pickup on Interstate 5 before terminating the pursuit for safety reasons near Woodburn. While investigating the burglary, deputies learned this was an illegal marijuana operation and discovered a large amount of marijuana in the shop. LAW ENFORCEMENT SEEKING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE IN LOCATING AN INDIVIDUAL WANTED FOR ATTEMPTED MURDER

Multnomah Co. Sheriff's Office Around 10 a.m., on Tuesday, November 16, Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO) patrol deputies received a report of a person attempting to steal a vehicle in the 44000 block of East Larch Mountain Road. The suspect was not found upon arrival. Based on a person description and information gathered by MCSO throughout the day, the suspect was identified as 23-year-old Logan Allen Cantwell. Deputies learned Cantwell was  wanted by law enforcement for shooting at a Wasco County sheriff’s deputy in Shaniko on Saturday, Nov. 13 . Out of an abundance of caution, a reverse 911 call was issued to properties in the area east of Corbett High School to the community of Bridal Veil and north of the Multnomah County line to I-84. The call asked for residents to shelter in place and report suspicious activity to 911. GRANTS PASS HIGH SCHOOL PROTEST

Grants Pass Police Department Grants Pass, OR – Late last week the Grants Pass Police Department was notified by School District 7 officials of a student led walkout planned for today, November 16, 2021. The school district requested a police presence at Grants Pass High School and both Grants Pass Middle Schools to monitor what was anticipated to be a peaceful twenty five minute protest by students.  Officers were deployed at all three schools as requested. Both North and South Middle Schools had a small number of student participants with no reported problems. At 1:48 PM approximately 200-300 students gathered in front of the Grants Pass High School 9 th  Street entrance in an apparent protest that had moved into and blocked the street. Additional police officers arrived to protect the group’s right to freedom of speech and to maintain public peace and safety. EPD SWAT successfully takes E. Amazon residential armed barricaded suspect into custody

Eugene Police Department Central Lane 911 received multiple calls regarding shots fired in the E. Amazon Drive/Snell area neighborhood at 5:12 p.m. on November 15. Residents of a home sheltered in place after a bullet was shot from a nearby residence into their home through a window, with glass injuring one of the occupants. The neighbors initially sheltered in place and then were extricated by Eugene Police. The suspect, Nicholas Hanford Gerber, age 29, had access to multiple firearms within the home.  A CENS message was sent in three block radius to shelter in place for safety and some other homes were evacuated. SWAT and Crisis Negotiation Team, Drone Team responded to the scene, along with Eugene Springfield Fire for medical contingencies. Crisis Negotiation Team worked for hours on the call with the barricaded suspect to try to get him to come out of the house. OSP INVESTIGATES CRASH HIGHWAY 20- DESCHUTES COUNTY

Oregon State Police On November 15, 2021, at around 1:59 P.M., OSP responded to a crash on Highway 20 and Cooley Rd in Bend, Oregon.  A School Bus, driven by John Norwood (59) of Bend, was stopped in the left turn lane at the intersection of Highway 20 at Cooley Rd when a Jeep Wrangler, driven by Jeffrey Ruthardt (48) of Bend, drove into the front of the bus.  No children were present on the bus.  Both drivers were transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  This is an ongoing investigation. The Oregon State Police was assisted by the Bend Police Department, Bend Fire, and the Oregon Department of Transportation.
