Johnny Ray Bohannon Arrested For The Murder of Rebecca Elaine Reeves

6/9/22 This afternoon the Coos Bay Police Department made an arrest in the homicidal death of Rebecca Elaine Reeves. The police have arrested 47 year old North Bend resident Johnny Ray Bohannon. He was arrested at the Coos Bay Police Department. He has been lodged at the Coos County Jail on a charge of Murder in the Second Degree. I will be filing formal charges with the Coos County Circuit Court against Mr. Bohannon later today. I anticipate that Mr. Bohannon will make his first court appearance on June 10, 2022. Anyone with information regarding this case is encouraged to contact the Coos Bay Police Departmanet.

Eugene Police Department For several years one of Eugene’s oldest open murder cases, the 1969 strangulation of 22-year-old Janet Lynn Shanahan, has been a priority of the Eugene Police Cold Case Squad investigators.   In April 1969, Janet had been married to 23-year-old Christopher John Shanahan for about 10 months.  Janet was attending spring term at the University of Oregon with the goal of becoming a teacher.  On April 21, 1969 Janet attended an evening birthday party for her 15-year-old brother held at her family’s house, located on Rutledge Street in west Eugene.  According to her husband, Janet did not return to their campus area apartment after the birthday party. The next day Janet was reported missing. It wasn’t until April 23, 1969, that her body was found. That morning, Christopher had contacted Janet’s sister asking her to drive around with him in hopes of finding Janet’s 1951 Plymouth sedan. Tigard Police Department Requesting Help Identifying Bank Robbery Suspect

Tigard Police Department The Tigard Police Department is investigating a bank robbery that happened yesterday and is sharing surveillance images in hopes of identifying the suspect. On Wednesday, June 8th around 12:30 PM a man robbed the Wells Fargo on SW Hall Blvd north of SW Pacific Highway and left the bank on foot. No weapons were involved, and nobody was hurt. Several officers responded to the scene and a K-9 track was conducted in the area, but the suspect was not immediately located. Two photos of the suspect are attached here. He is described as a white man in his 50’s with “dirty blonde” shoulder length hair and a goatee. He was wearing a dark gray beanie and black hoodie with white piping. Oregon State Police Drug Enforcement Team shut down another illegal marijuana grow operation- Jackson County

Oregon State Police On June 8, 2022, the Oregon State Police Southwest Region Drug Enforcement Section team served an illegal marijuana search warrant in the 13000 block of Hwy 62, Eagle Point, Jackson County.  As a result, 5,038 illegal marijuana plants contained in eighteen greenhouses were seized.  Five individuals were detained, identified, interviewed, and released.   The property had been leased for the sole purpose of illegal marijuana cultivation.  Jackson County Code Enforcement also responded to the property for multiple code violations.  A total of $58,000.00 dollars in fines were levied related to unapproved greenhouse structures, solid waste, and unpermitted electrical installations.  The investigation is ongoing.  The OSP SWR DES team was assisted by the Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) of the Medford Police and Jackson County Sheriff Oregon, as well as Homeland Security Investigations (HSI).

Missing Surfer Found Deceased

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office At approximately 10:30pm last night the Sheriff’s Office received a call about an overdue surfer in the area of Heceta Beach north of Florence. Lane County Sheriff Search and Rescue along with United States Coast Guard personnel responded and began searching the area. Close to noon today, Coast Guard personnel located a deceased subject in the water not far from where the overdue surfer was believed to have been surfing. The identity of the involved is being withheld at this time. Additional information will be released as it becomes available.

Body Found in Coos Bay Determined to be Homicidal Violence

6/9/22 On June 8, at approximately 8:10 pm a 911 call was transferred to the North Coos Dispatch Center.  The caller reported that he had found a deceased female in the residence located at 1749 Idaho Drive in Coos Bay. Coos Bay Officers arrived at the location and discovered a deceased female, who they identified as 47-year-old Rebecca Reeves. Officers on the scene believed that her death was caused by homicidal violence.  The Coos County Major Crimes Team was activated and members from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon State Police, North Bend Police, Bandon Police, Coquille Police, Coos Bay Police, Coos County Medical Examiner’s Office, and the District Attorney’s Office arrived to assist in the investigation. YAMHILL COUNTY SHERIFF'S OFFICE RESPONDS TO SUSPICIOUS DEATHS

Yamhill Co. Sheriff's Office On May 30, 2022, at about 7:30 pm Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a call at a residence in the 11000 block of SW Dupee Valley Road in rural Sheridan.  The residence is on a large remote property. A 911 caller reported responding to the residence to check on animals and discovered two adults who appeared to be deceased.  Deputies responded and discovered there were two deceased adults inside the home and evidence indicating the deaths were suspicious in nature.   Detectives with the Yamhill County Sheriff’s Office Special Investigations Unit responded and conducted further investigation.  Evidence at the scene was collected and processed, and some evidence is still pending further analysis at the Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory at this time.   The deceased subjects were identified as Prentis “Rusty” Hale III, age 80 and Karen Hansen-Pieri, age 60.  Both subjects died of gunshot wounds.  The preliminary investigative findings

Rest in Peace K-9 Rolo

Marion County Sheriff's Office Law enforcement officers and K-9 handlers from several area agencies gathered outside Heavenly Wings east of Salem to pay tribute to retired Marion County Sheriff’s Office K-9 Rolo who was laid to rest yesterday. K-9 Rolo retired in August of 2018 after nearly 7 years of service and 590 field deployments. During his time with the Sheriff’s Office, K-9 Rolo and his handler received numerous commendations and was a recipient of the Medal of Valor. In retirement, K-9 Rolo continued to live with his handler and family until he passed away at home yesterday evening. We are proud to have had the privilege to honor Rolo’s dedicated service to the people of Marion County.

SUSPECT IN CUSTODY AFTER POLICE PURSUIT-ALBANY PD CASE 22-03486

Albany Police Today, June 8 th , 2022 at 9:32am Albany Police were called to a local convenience store for a male acting suspicious. The vehicle description matched a stolen vehicle involved in a robbery earlier today in Linn County. Albany Police attempted to contact the subject who fled in the vehicle leading Albany Police in a pursuit lasting approximately 10 minutes. The suspect vehicle struck a Fed Ex delivery vehicle at the intersection of Salem Avenue and Geary St. The suspect vehicle then struck two other vehicles, a 2008 Chrysler PT Cruiser and a 1984 Isuzu pickup before coming to a stop in the Stop-n-Go parking lot. The suspect vehicle suffered major damage and the male suspect had to be extricated by Albany Fire Department personnel.  Albany Fire Department personnel evaluated all occupants of all involved vehicles and the suspect was the only person transported to a local area hospital with unknown injuries. DISTRICT ATTORNEY AND SHERIFF HOLD PRESS CONFERENCE ON OFFICER INVOLVED SHOOTING RULED JUSTIFIED

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office (Douglas County, Ore.)  The Douglas County District Attorney, Rick Wesenberg along with Douglas County Sheriff, John Hanlin held a press conference today, Wednesday, June 8, 2022, to discuss the officer involved shooting that occurred on Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at 638 Weaver Road, near Myrtle Creek, Oregon.  They were was joined by Myrtle Creek Police Chief Jonathan Brewster, Oregon State Police Detective Tina Nibblett and Senior Deputy District Attorney Allison Eichmann.  The press conference was held in the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, in Roseburg, Oregon.   Douglas County District Attorney, Wesenberg provided a detailed account of the two separate events leading up to the officer involved shooting of the suspect, 60-year-old Spencer Cassanova Heckathorne.  Wesenberg’s presentation cited that; immediately after the event, the Douglas County Major Crimes Team (MCT) was activated.  The MCT, under the direction and supervision of Oregon State Police

Hillsboro Police Detectives are conducting a death investigation

Hillsboro Police Dept.   On Tuesday, June 7, at about 2:11 pm, Hillsboro Police officers were alerted to  suspicious circumstances  in an open field in the area of NE 25th Ave. and NE Beacon Ct. Hillsboro. Hillsboro Police Detectives are  now   conducting  a death investigation  of an unknown person.   The Washin g ton County Sheriff's Office is assisting with their Search and Rescue Team in the search for evidence. The WCSO  Search and Rescue Team  (SAR) is made up of teens and young adults (ages 14 to 21) who serve as the primary ground search and rescue team for Washington County. Led by experienced and highly trained Sheriff's Office staff, the Search and Rescue members are often actively involved in missions involving lost people, down aircraft, and looking for evidence in major crimes.   This is an active death investigation, and at this time, we will not be releasing any additional information. MARIJUANA SEARCH WARRANT 06/08/22

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On June 8, 2022, the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET), with the assistance of Rogue Area Drug Enforcement (RADE), executed a search warrant in the 900 and 2300 block of Thompson Creek Road, Selma, regarding illegal marijuana grow sites. During the execution of the warrants approximately 22,000 marijuana plants were seized and destroyed.  The marijuana plants were located inside 34 greenhouses and inside one of the residences. Seven individuals were detained for officer safety. Approximately $11,000 cash was discovered hidden within one of the residences. Local School Bus Monitor Indicted for Sex Abuse of Preteen Child

Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case 22-2263 SHADY COVE, Ore. – A Jackson County grand jury indicted a local school bus monitor yesterday on charges of sexual abuse of a preteen child. The suspect, Jimmy Dean Gairson, 46, of Shady Cove, is charged with first-degree sexual abuse and second-degree sexual penetration, and is lodged at the Jackson County Jail. The charges are unrelated to his position as a school bus monitor. The abuse occurred while the victim lived in Gairson’s home in Shady Cove. At the time of his arrest, Gairson was employed by the bus contracting company First Student as a school bus monitor for the Central Point School District. Gairson was not employed directly by the school district, and at this time there is no information to suggest he victimized children as a result of his employment with First Student.  Based on information gathered in the investigations, detectives believe Gairson had access to numerous other unidentified children in his home. Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office ***UPDATE**** On June 6, 2022, a deceased subject was located in the Crooked River at the Ogden Wayside. A joint operation by Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue, Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, Crooked River Ranch Fire and Rescue, and Jefferson County Fire District #1 recovered the body of an adult male matching the description of Jason Smith. The death investigation has been referred to the Jefferson County Medical Examiner and District Attorney. DCSO will send an update after we receive confirmation on the identification of the subject. 

PORTLAND MAN FACES FEDERAL CHARGES FOR USING INSTAGRAM TO SEXUALLY EXPLOIT CHILDREN ONLINE

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—On June 7, 2022, a federal grand jury in Portland returned an indictment charging a Portland man for using Instagram to persuade children to produce and send him sexually explicit photos of themselves. Solomon Dean Cook, 18, has been charged with sexual exploitation of children, attempted sexual exploitation of children, receiving child pornography, and possessing child pornography. According to court documents, Cook first came to the attention of federal law enforcement in January 2022 when the parent of a minor victim in Portland called the FBI’s National Threat Operations Center (NTOC) to report that an Instagram user had persuaded their child to produce and share a sexually explicit photo of herself. The user threatened to distribute the image if the child did not continue producing and sending more images. Man arrested in carjacking and burglary cases

Eugene Police Department At around 5:30 p.m. a Eugene woman in the 1400 block of High Street called to report a man tried to steal her vehicle keys from her. She reported she had a front door open to her daughter’s residence and spotted a man, later identified as James Eugene Jones, age 52, standing at the doorway. He wanted her vehicle keys and she refused. Jones is reported to have become agitated and then when the victim tried to shut the door, he prevented this and got his foot over the threshold. There was a struggle over the door. The victim was able to get it closed and locked and then called police. Shortly thereafter, Central Lane 911 received a report from a residence nearby, where a vehicle had been stolen at knifepoint (300 block of E. 15th Avenue).  Eugene Police officers arrived to the E. 15th Avenue address and they found that a Eugene man had parked his Subaru Outback behind his residence and then been robbed of the Subaru at knifepoint by a man, later identified as Jon
