Bend Police arrest shoplifters, recover more than $2,500 in merchandise

Bend Police Dept. At approximately 1:21 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 13, Bend Police responded to a report of shoplifting at Walmart Supercenter on Pinebrook Boulevard in Bend. Loss prevention at the store indicated that two customers had wheeled two full shopping carts out of the store without paying and were loading the merchandise into a white pickup truck with a brown tarp on the back of it. The vehicle and suspect descriptions matched a previous theft at Winco Foods, in which a woman had attempted to wheel out a shopping cart full of merchandise before being caught. In that incident, the merchandise recovered totaled $341.   Officers stopped the suspect vehicle at Robal Road and U.S. Highway 20, and arrested Dorthy James, Jessica Tufti and Wade Bennett, who was hiding underneath some of the merchandise in the vehicle. James and Bennett are suspects in additional shoplifting cases in Redmond. James also had a warrant out of Jefferson County. Arrested :  Dorthy Jean James, 34-year-old Warm

DRIVER ARRESTED AFTER STRIKING CHILD IN PARADE WITH VEHICLE

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On 12/10/2022 at about 7:00pm, Lane County Sheriff’s Deputies received a request from the Oakridge Police Department for assistance investigating a vehicle vs. pedestrian crash that occurred during a parade  inside that city.   Deputies investigated and learned that a 9-year-old child, while handing out candy during the parade, was struck by a vehicle near the intersection of S. Diamond St. and W. 1 st  St. in Oakridge.  Witnesses explained that the driver of the involved vehicle, while attempting to drive around the parade at a fast speed, disregarded both police and fire emergency lights before striking the child with his vehicle.  The child was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries.  The driver was identified as 69-year-old Michael Edward Boardrow of Oakridge.  Boardrow was taken into custody and lodged at the Lane County Jail on charges including Reckless Endangering, Reckless Driving, and Assault in the 2 nd  Degree. Oregon State Police Today marks the second anniversary of the tragic death of Kurt Krauss. On the morning of December 14, 2020, Kurt Krauss was found deceased outside his place of business on Corporate Way in Merlin, Oregon.  Investigators continue to work diligently to follow up on every tip received and investigate all possible scenarios.   Additionally, advancements in forensic analysis have opened up additional investigative avenues. The Oregon State Police believes there are people who have information regarding the circumstances of Kurt’s death. SHERIFF'S OFFICE ARRESTS MAN FOR SEXUALLY ABUSING A CHILD

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office On 12/07/2022 deputies from the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received information that a child under the age of 12 had disclosed being sexually abused by an adult male known to her. The male was identified as 36-year-old Adam Jason Morgan of Eugene.  Deputies conducted an investigation and established evidence that Morgan had sexually abused the child on multiple occasions. Morgan was taken into custody and lodged at the Lane County Jail on the charges of Sex Abuse in the 1st Degree, Sodomy in the 1st Degree, and Rape in the 1st Degree.  Click Here To Download Our App

OSP IS SEEKING PUBLIC ASSISTANCE WITH AN ATTEMPT TO LOCATE 2 SUSPECTS IN A MURDER CASE- IN JEFFERSON COUNTY

Oregon State Police On October 31, 2022, at approximately 7:45 P.M., a shooting occurred in the Strawberry Heights neighborhood of Madras, Oregon. A male, Edgar Miguel Torres-Aguilera (24) was shot multiple times. Torres-Aguilera was life-flighted to St. Charles in Bend where he later was pronounced deceased. Investigators with the Tri-County Major Incident Team have developed information on two individuals in the case and are seeking the public’s assistance with information about their location: Chance Corey Lee Stwyer is a 22-year-old, male described as 220 lbs. and 5’9” tall. Stwyer is believed to be in the Warm Springs/Madras area but has ties to the Burns, Oregon community.   Andre Sterling James Spino is a 18-year-old male described as 120 lbs. and 5’5” tall. Fatal Crash - HWY 39- Klamath County

Oregon State Police  On Saturday, December 10th, 2022, at approximately 6:28 PM, the Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle vs pedestrian collision at the intersection of Hwy 39 and Fargo St, in Klamath County. The preliminary investigation indicated a white GMC Sierra, operated by Christina Mueller (22), of Klamath Falls, was traveling eastbound in the fast lane when it struck a pedestrian, Jerri Vaughn (53), of Klamath Falls. Vaughn was wearing a green jacket and jeans, was not in a crosswalk and was struck in the eastbound fast Lane. The visibility on the roadway was poor due to it raining and being dark at the time of the collision. Vaughn was pronounced deceased at the scene due to injuries sustained in the crash.  Highway 39 was open during the investigation with the westbound lanes being reduced to two-way traffic while the eastbound lanes were shut down for approximately 3 hours.  OSP was assisted by the Klamath County Sheriffs' Office, Klamath County Fire District 1, a

Man Killed in Stalking Incident

Sheriff's Office On Sunday, December 11, 2022, at 7:53 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies and Sherwood police officers responded to a shooting on SW 207 th  Avenue and Pacific Highway near Sherwood.  The initial investigation revealed that 36-year-old Cody Buyas of Beavercreek was stalking an ex-girlfriend at her home. That woman’s family found Buyas outside of the home and confronted him, at which point Buyas displayed a weapon, and a family member fired multiple shots. Buyas was treated on the scene by law enforcement and EMS. Buyas was transported to a local trauma hospital but was pronounced deceased early this morning. The family members remained on the scene and were cooperative with the investigation. No deputies or officers fired their weapons during this incident. FATAL CRASH- HWY 101- COOS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Thursday, December 8th, 2022, at approximately 12:48 PM, the Oregon State Police Responded to two vehicle collision on HWY 101, near mile post 259.5 (Bullards Bridge). The preliminary investigation indicated a red Dodge Caravan, operated by Michael John Bevington (46) of Coos Bay, was traveling southbound on HWY 101, near mile post 259.5, mid-span on the Bullards Bridge over the Coquille River, when the driver crossed the double yellow centerline and entered into the northbound lane.  The Caravan crossed into the northbound lane and collided into a northbound blue Ford F-250 Superduty pickup, operated by Waylon James Somers (39) of Gold Beach.  The Caravan rotated and came to an uncontrolled rest blocking the northbound lane and a portion of the the southbound lane.   The Ford pickup came to an uncontrolled rest against the northbound curb. Michael John Bevington received fatal injuries as a result of the collision.  Waylon James Somers and Jordan Paul Green (29)

Multiple Persons Arrested in Shoplifting Blitz

Sheriff's Office   On Friday, December 9, 2022, deputies and detectives from the Washington County Sheriff’s Office partnered with local loss prevention employees to saturate a specific area and deter retail theft. They watched people who were actively shoplifting or engaging in other criminal activity. The objective was a concerted effort to identify, apprehend, and hold people accountable for committing retail theft at a Beaverton Target store. The eight-hour shoplifting detail resulted in six arrests, the recovery of illegal narcotics, and the clearing of several outstanding arrest warrants.  During the operation, deputies recovered thousands of dollars in merchandise and 35 blue “M30” Oxycodone pills, which likely contained fentanyl. Many of the arrested persons appeared to have prior knowledge of how to interrupt retail anti-theft devices, worked in pairs to conceal stolen property, or left their vehicles running in the parking lot for a quick escape. FATAL HIT AND RUN INVESTIGATION CONTINUES APD CASE #22-07895

Albany Police Today, December 10, 2022 at 4:22am Albany Police responded to a 911 call of a person down in the roadway in the 1500 block of Geary St. SE. Upon arrival, Officers began life saving efforts, but the female was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim was a 30-year-old female and Albany resident. Her name will be released at a later time, pending family notification.  We believe the female was struck by a car and the unknown vehicle left the scene. We are looking for any information that could assist in finding the suspect vehicle and driver. Team Effort to bring a family of 5 to safety after becoming stranded in the snow, while searching for their Christmas Tree

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office On Sunday, December 4, 2022, Sheriff’s deputies were called to assist a family of 5 who became stranded, the day before, in several feet of snow while searching for a Christmas tree.  Search and rescue deputies, an off-duty Linn County search and rescue volunteer responded to Forest Road 46, in Marion County, and helped to recover the family safely and bring them down off the mountain.  We would like to encourage everyone they should always “know before you go,” weather conditions, is the area open, do you have appropriate supplies to survive a few days, and does someone know where you are going and when you will be back. These events are always a team effort to help resolve successfully.  Thank you to the members of the Santiam snowmobile association members for their help in this rescue. 

Medford Police Department Asks for Assistance in Locating Robbery Suspect

Medford Police Dept.   On December 4 th , 2022 the Medford Police Department received a report of two separate robberies at local Medford businesses. The first robbery occurred at Safeway, located at 1003 Medford Center, at approximately 9:15 a.m. The second robbery occurred at Fred Meyer, located at 1360 Center Dr., at approximately 1:30 p.m. In both cases, the suspect was a male who pointed or brandished a firearm at store employees while stealing items from the store. The male was not located by responding officers at the time.  Officers investigated the incidents, which included reviewing surveillance footage. It was determined the male suspect was the same male in both incidents. The suspect has been positively identified as 23-year old James Austin Buchanan.  The Medford Police Department is requesting assistance in locating Buchanan. Please do not approach or make contact with Buchanan and call 911 if you see him or know his whereabouts (MPD case 22-20253 and 22-20300). 

SEARCH WARRANT SERVED, ARRESTS MADE RELATED TO STORE SELLING PSILOCYBIN

Portland Police Bureau A search warrant was served this morning on a retailer in the Northwest District Neighborhood that was selling suspected psilocybin products. On Thursday, December 8, 2022 at about 1:00a.m., the Narcotics and Organized Crime Unit, Central Precinct patrol, and the Multnomah County District Attorney's office served a search warrant at the "Shroom House" at 1541 West Burnside Street. Four arrests were made. Investigators seized over $13,000 in cash and a large amount of suspected psilocybin products. Steven T. Tachie, Jr, 32, and Jeramiahs F. Geronimo, 32, were booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center on charges of ORS 475.904 Unlawful Delivery of Controlled Substance within 1,000 feet of school (10 counts each), a Class A Felony, and ORS 164.170 Laundering a monetary instrument (10 counts each), a Class B Felony. Sheriff's Office Lane County Sheriff’s Office investigators have confirmed the deceased male found in the woods near Wacker Point Rd. on 11/20/22 died as the result of homicide.  He has been identified as 37-year-old Sean Lee Wilkins of Swisshome. MOTOR VEHICLE CRASH (FATAL)

Lane Co. Sheriff's Office This morning at approximately 5:43am, Lane County Sheriff’s deputies and officers from the Cottage Grove Police Department responded to the report of a rollover crash in the 33000blk of E. Saginaw Rd. Responders arrived to find that the driver and sole occupant of the involved vehicle was deceased. Preliminary investigation reveals that a blue Nissan Sentra had been driving westbound on E. Saginaw Rd. when it left the roadway for an unknown reason. The vehicle then struck a driveway embankment and rolled onto its top.  The driver’s identity is being withheld at this time, pending next of kin notification. 

CITYWIDE SCHOOL BOMB THREAT INVESTIGATED

Portland Police Bureau The Portland Police Bureau is investigating threats to schools citywide, but after a preliminary assessment, there is no reason to believe the threats are credible. On Wednesday, December 7, 2022 at 3:41p, Portland Police responded to a report that multiple copies of an e-mailed threat had been received by multiple community members, and that the message said all Portland schools were the subject of the threat. The threat also included bias language. PPB officers began an investigation and coordinated with administrators for multiple schools and district offices. PPB also informed the Federal Bureau of Investigation. PPB requested that school staffs check their properties, and we have received no reports that anything suspicious has been found. PPB continues to ask all schools in Portland city limits to continue to sweep their properties and report anything suspicious immediately. SHOTS FIRED IN GROCERY STORE PARKING LOT UNDER INVESTIGATION

Salem Police Department Salem, Ore.  — Shots rang out in the parking lot of a grocery store located in the  1200 block of Lancaster DR SE  at approximately 9:45 p.m. last night, December 6, according to witnesses who called for police assistance. Officers responded to the area on report of a person in one vehicle firing shots at individuals in another vehicle after which both vehicles fled the area. Less than five minutes later, the  Marion County Sheriff’s Office  received the call of two individuals with gunshot wounds in the parking lot of a business in the  100 block of Lancaster DR SE . Officers determined the victims were involved in the incident which had occurred minutes prior less than one mile away. Oregon State Police An injunction has delayed the implementation of Ballot Measure 114.  With that new information, we wanted to give you an update on what it means here at the Oregon State Police. The OSP’s Firearms Instant Check System (FICS) unit will continue to work to process and resolve the pended/delayed FICS transactions. This delay of implementation will allow firearm sales to continue being processed under the current law. OSP continues to work with our partners to set up the Oregon Permit to Purchase program with our partners at the Oregon State Sheriff’s Association (OSSA) and the Oregon Association of Chiefs of Police (OACP).  OSSA and OACP are still working through the training requirement portion of the application process.  At this time, Permit Agents are not able to accept or start processing Permit to Purchase applications. On December 8, 2022, OSP will be launching a “Permit to Purchase” webpage with preliminary information such as the Permit to Purchase Application

FATAL CRASH - HWY 540 - COOS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Sunday, December 4th, 2022, at approximately 10:59 AM, the Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on HWY 540, near mile post 12.9, in Coos County. The preliminary investigation indicated, on an unknown date and time, a single vehicle crash occurred when an eastbound Honda Civic, operated by Wendy Haumea Smith (45), crossed the westbound lane of travel onto the earthen shoulder and plummeted down a cliff of more than 100ft before coming to an uncontrolled rest against a tree near milepost 12.9 on Hwy 540 (Cape Arago Highway)(Cape Arago State Park).  The operator, Wendy Haumea Smith, was located a short distance from the vehicle deceased.   Smith was reported missing to the Coos County Sheriffs’ Office on Nov 6 th  2022.  Scene evidence indicates Smith survived the crash, extricated herself from the vehicle, collected some belongings and moved a short distance from the vehicle. It is currently undetermined if Smith died as a result of the injuries
