Bend Man Arrested for Fentanyl and Methamphetamine Trafficking

Central Oregon Drug Enforcement (CODE)  On December 22 nd , 2022, at approximately 12:30 PM, the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team concluded an investigation with the arrest of Jose Miguel Gomez, age 41, of Bend, Oregon.  After receiving a Crime Stoppers of Oregon tip and several community complaints, CODE detectives identified Mr. Gomez as a fentanyl and methamphetamine trafficker in the Hunnell Road homeless encampment while maintaining a residence on 20000 block of Liberty Ln, in Bend. The initial investigation alleges Mr. Gomez imported controlled substances into central Oregon, where he distributed them. After a multi-day surveillance operation around the Bend area, CODE Detectives applied for, obtained, and executed a search warrant. At approximately 11:00 AM, Mr. Gomez was contacted during a traffic stop on Boyd Acres Rd and Cooley Rd, while riding as a passenger in an unrelated car.  Bend Police Officers attempted to detain Gomez, and he resisted. ILLICIT MARIJUANA GROW OPERATION DISMANTLED IN SUNRIVER AREA

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On Wednesday, December 21 st , 2022, detectives with the Deschutes County Illegal Marijuana Enforcement team and the Central Oregon Drug Enforcement Team concluded an investigation involving a Sunriver area home that is alleged to be growing and processing illicit marijuana and delivering it within the central Oregon area.  This case began with community complaints and tips about Seth H Bucy (age 40) and his brother, Jacob Bucy (Age 39), both of Bend, operating a marijuana grow in a residential area. The Deschutes County Illicit Marijuana Enforcement Team requested the assistance of the Central Oregon Drug Team to further their investigation. As a result, CODE and DCIME detectives, drug agents, and intelligence analysts conducted surveillance of the Bucys’. Redmond Police Dept. Redmond, OR – On Wednesday, December 21, at approximately 5:13 p.m. Redmond Police and Redmond Fire & Rescue personnel responded to the intersection of SW Black Butte Blvd and SW 9 th  Street for a vehicle versus pedestrian crash. The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was immediately transported by ambulance to Bend St. Charles hospital for treatment. The driver of the involved vehicle remained at the scene and cooperated with investigating officers.      The crash remains under investigation, and no additional details will be released at this time. The Redmond Police Department (RPD) wants to speak to the driver of a vehicle which was not involved in the crash but was at the intersection seconds before. BURGLARY SUSPECTS ARRESTED

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On the night of December 20 th , 2022, deputies responded to a reported burglary and theft at Ray’s Food Place in Selma, Oregon.  The suspects fled the store before employees could report it.  Using video surveillance provided by Ray’s Food Place, a male and a female subject were seen entering the store together.  The male entered the stores office and unsuccessfully attempted to gain entry to the safe.  The male then stole a wallet from an employee’s purse and stole cash from a register before they both exited the store. They left the parking lot in a white van travelling north on HWY 199. A similar incident was reported by the Ray’s Food Place in Merlin that occurred the evening of December 20 th , 2022. Nothing was taken in that incident. Per store management, their Gold Hill store was burglarized on Thanksgiving Day.  Management provided deputies with a picture and name of the possible suspect. HOMICIDE INVESTIGATION IN HOSFORD-ABERNETHY NEIGHBORHOOD

Portland Police Bureau On December 21, 2022, at 10:52 a.m., Central Precinct officers were dispatched to the intersection of Southeast 9th Avenue and Southeast Market Street on reports that a shooting had occurred. Officers located an injured man and immediately began rendering emergency medical aid. This included applying a chest seal. The injured individual was transported to a local hospital, where they later succumbed to their injuries. The name of the deceased will be released after cause and manner of death are confirmed, and after close family have been notified. Two individuals possibly associated to the incident have been detained. Portland Police Bureau's Homicide Unit is responding to the scene to assume control of the investigation. Woodburn Police Seeking Help in Identifying Suspect

Woodburn Police On Tuesday, December 6, 2022 at approximately 2:05 p.m., Woodburn Police Officers responded to a call of a fight with a firearm discharged at 1255 E Lincoln St, Woodburn, OR 97071. The suspect brought a handgun to confront another female, the two became involved in a physical altercation, and the handgun was discharged during the fight. The involved parties fled the location prior to police arrival. There are no known injuries at this time.   The suspect is described as a Hispanic female, approximately 5’1, and between 25-30 years of age. Felon Arrested with 8 Guns

Portland Police Bureau   An East Precinct traffic citation has led to the arrest of a felon in possession of eight handguns. On December 21, 2022, just before 1:00 a.m., an East Precinct patrol sergeant contacted a vehicle near the intersection of Northeast Siskiyou Street and Northeast 81st Avenue. Upon further investigation, the sergeant learned the driver of the vehicle was operating it on a suspended license. The Driver had also been driving without insurance. The sergeant gave the suspect a citation for Driving Uninsured and Driving While Suspended. During a mandatory search of the car before it was to be towed for the above charges, the sergeant found a total of eight handguns throughout the vehicle. In addition to the firearms, almost 200 rounds of ammunition and $1,240 were seized. 39-year-old Marquis Hammond was arrested and booked into the Multnomah County Detention Center for eight counts of Felon in Possession of a Firearm, along with his citation.                  Click He

PEDESTRIAN KILLED IN HIT AND RUN COLLISION

Salem Police Department Salem, Ore.  — At approximately 5:30 p.m. yesterday evening, December 20, motorists traveling eastbound on Madrona AV west of Commercial ST SE reported an injured woman in the roadway. Evidence of a crash scene involving the pedestrian and a vehicle was located at  Madrona AV and Woodbridge CT , and the Salem Police Traffic Team was called to assume the investigation. The woman, identified as 74-year-old Linda Louise Wisher, was transported by paramedics to Salem Health where she was pronounced deceased.  The Traffic Team’s preliminary investigation revealed Wisher was walking along the 300 block of Madrona AV, and as she crossed the driveway to an apartment complex, she was struck by a vehicle exiting the property. The victim was dragged several hundred feet where she was found by the motorist.  The involved vehicle did not remain at the scene. Oregon City Police Dept. Update:  Thanks to an alert citizen in the Clackamas area, Richard and Louise Wise, have been found and both are safe.  An Officer and Deputy are currently with them (12/22/2022 at 9:21 a.m.).   On 12/20/2022 at approximately 3:30 PM, 83-year-old Richard L. Wise and his wife, 93-year-old Louise M. Wise, left their home in Oregon City to go grocery shopping. The Wises did not return home and they cannot be reached by telephone. The couple used to live in Lincoln City and may be headed to the Oregon Coast. Mr. and Mrs. Wise were driving a red 2006 Mercury Mountaineer (Oregon license plate 540CME). Both Mr. and Mrs. Wise have medical conditions that, if left untreated or unmedicated, could be a danger to their health. OSP TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DISCOVERY OF SUSPECTED COCAINE- LINN COUNTY

Oregon State Police On December 19, 2022, at approximately 1:13 P.M., an Oregon State Police Senior Trooper stopped a passenger car for following too close on Interstate 5 northbound near milepost 219. During the traffic stop, the Trooper noticed signs of criminal activity, and a probable cause search of the vehicle was conducted.  During a search of the vehicle, the Trooper located six bundles of suspected cocaine concealed in a cardboard box in the trunk of the vehicle. The OSP Trooper was assisted by K-9 Titan. The driver was identified as Heraclio Sanchez Diaz (38) of Gerber, California.  Mr. Diaz was taken into custody and charges will be referred to the United States Attorney’s Office. FATAL CRASH- HWY 234- JACKSON COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Friday, December 16, 2022, at approximately 4:00 PM, the Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on HWY 234, near milepost 11, in Jackson County. The preliminary investigation indicated a red Nissan Frontier, operated by James Robertson (81) of Central Point, was traveling westbound on Hwy 234, near Table Rock Rd. For unknown reasons the vehicle drifted onto the shoulder and struck a driveway embankment. PORTLAND AREA MAIL THIEF SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON FOR BANK FRAUD, IDENTITY THEFT, AND POSSESSION OF METHAMPHETAMINE

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—A Washington County, Oregon man was sentenced to federal prison today for using stolen bank checks and debit cards to defraud local residents and illegally possessing distribution quantities of methamphetamine. William Anthony McCormack, Jr., 40, was sentenced to 121 months in federal prison and five years’ supervised release. He was also ordered to pay $8,553 in restitution to his victims. According to court documents, between June and September 2020, McCormack devised a scheme whereby he would steal bank checks and debit cards from community mailboxes, primarily in Washington County, and use them to make unauthorized withdrawals from victims’ bank accounts. On at least five separate occasions, McCormack deposited stolen checks into victims’ Rivermark Community Credit Union accounts and immediately made unauthorized withdrawals from the same accounts. FATAL CRASH ON HIGHWAY 20 NEAR CIRCLE BLVD

Benton Co. Sheriff's Office CORVALLIS, Ore.  – On Sunday, December 18, 2022 at approximately 4:30 p.m., Benton County Sheriff’s Office (BCSO) Deputies responded to a fatal crash near milepost one on Highway 20, west of Circle Blvd, Corvallis.  A Honda CRV was traveling eastbound when a Volkswagen Touareg, traveling in the opposite direction, left its lane of travel at the curve in the road, and hit the Honda head-on.  The forty-seven-year-old female driver of the Honda was pronounced deceased at the scene. The twenty-four-year-old male driver of the Touareg was transported to Good Samaritan Regional Medical Center for minor injuries. Highway 20 was closed for approximately four hours to investigate the crash. It is unknown at this time if alcohol or drugs were factors in the crash. Oregon State Police After a lengthy investigation into this case, Troopers were able to develop a suspect.  On December 5, 2022, OSP Fish & Wildlife Troopers interviewed and ultimately charged Macen M. West (21) of North Bend, Oregon with the following crimes: Take Game Mammal Closed Season (x3)  Waste of a Game Mammal (x3) Hunting with the aid of Artificial Light The rifle that is believed to have been used in the crimes was also seized during the investigation. ____________Previous Release _____________ On March 23, 2021, three young Blacktail bucks were found by a citizen alongside a sand road on the North Spit of Coos Bay.  All three deer were shot in the head from a relatively close range and were likely taken using artificial light at night.  These deer were shot and left to waste.  OSP Troopers estimate that the deer were killed sometime between March 19 - March 21, 2021.  It is currently closed season for Blacktail Deer. FATAL CRASH- HWY 99- JOSEPHINE COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Friday, December 16, 2022, at approximately 6:33 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash on HWY 99, near the 1900 block or mile post 1.75, in Josephine County. The preliminary investigation indicated two pedestrians, Deverne Jacobsen (91) and Gwen Jacobsen (85) of Grants Pass were crossing Hwy 99 to attend a Christmas Party when they were stuck by a truck traveling northbound on Hwy 99. Both pedestrians died as a result of injuries from the collision. The driver of the truck did not stop and fled the scene. The vehicle operator, Skylar Fucci (24) of Grants Pass, was contacted at approximately 9:15 P.M. and cooperated with the investigators.    Fucci was arrested lodged in the Josephine County Jail for two counts of Felony Hit and Run.  The investigation is on-going and additional charges may be applied at a later time. Street Crimes Unit and SWAT arrest convicted felon for unlawfully possessing and manufacturing firearms

Eugene Police Department   At 7:15 a.m. on December 15,  Eugene Police SWAT and Street Crimes Unit executed a search warrant and found unserialized guns, silencers, and around $30,000 in cash, and other items, at 2590 ½ Washington Street. The search warrant was for Unlawful Possession of Firearm by Felon. EPD SCU conducted an investigation based on a tip Joshua Allen Lampe, age 32,  was a felon and in possession of a firearm. Lampe had created a Facebook page using a fictitious name and his most recent post, on or around early November 2022, showed a picture of a 9mm handgun.  Lampe commented on his own post approximately one week after the original posting claiming to have 30 more like it. Based on this information, SCU began a more intensive investigation developing probable cause and a subsequent application for a search warrant.     EPD SWAT executed the search warrant and Lampe was taken into custody without incident. Fatal Crash- HWY 99E- Marion County

Oregon State Police On Monday, December 12, 2022, at approximately 10:13 PM, the Oregon State Police Responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 99E, near mile post 34, in Marion County. The preliminary investigation indicated a gray 2011 Lexus, operated by Moises Llamas Fernandez (27), of Salem, was traveling southbound on Hwy 99E when it left the roadway for an unknown reason and collided with a tree. The operator, Fernandez, and passenger, Pedro R Leon-Cueto (25), of Gervais, suffered fatal injuries during the crash and were pronounced dead at the scene. MULTIPLE PEOPLE ARRESTED IN UNDERCOVER SEX TRAFFICKING MISSION

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On December 15, 2022, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and multiple other city agency partners conducted an online sex trafficking mission. Investigators posted online ads on known sex trafficking websites. The persons contacted undercover detectives to arrange payment for sexual acts. When they arrived to meet the undercover detectives, they were arrested and lodged at the Washington County Jail.  The Sheriff’s Office regularly conducts undercover operations, both full-scale stings and day-to-day chats, addressing sex trafficking. MAN PLEADS GUILTY TO VOLUNTARY MANSLAUGHTER ON THE UMATILLA INDIAN RESERVATION

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon PORTLAND, Ore.—On December 14, 2022, a resident of the Umatilla Indian Reservation pleaded guilty after he repeatedly struck a fellow resident of the reservation with his fists, causing the person’s death. Tom Redhawk Tias, 22, pleaded guilty to one count of voluntary manslaughter. According to court documents, on January 26, 2021, Tias contacted law enforcement to report an unresponsive adult. Officers responded to the scene on the Umatilla Indian Reservation and located a deceased adult who multiple witnesses said Tias admitted to hitting. In an interview with law enforcement, Tias confirmed these accounts. The victim, who had an active Tribal protection order against Tias, was later determined to have died due to blunt force trauma to the head and neck. On February 10, 2021, Tias was charged by criminal complaint with voluntary manslaughter. Later, on March 16, 2021, a federal grand jury in Portland indicted Tias on the same charge. Ti

PPB Seeks Public's Help on Locating Truck Involved in Fatal Hit and Run

Portland Police Bureau   The Portland Police Bureau's Traffic Investigations Unit is seeking the public's help to find information related to a vehicle involved in a fatal hit and run crash involving a pedestrian. On October 26, 2022, at approximately 4:55 AM, 19-year-old Mekko (pronounced MEE-KO) Jackson was found deceased on North Interstate at North Graham Street after being struck by a hit and run driver. Mekko appeared to be crossing N Interstate Ave in a marked crosswalk near the MAX platform when he was struck. The driver of the vehicle fled the scene. The suspect vehicle is a green or teal 1993-1997 Ford Ranger "flareside." Mekko's family shared a photo of him and a family member is willing to speak with media.
