FATAL CRASH - HWY 101 - CLATSOP COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Monday, March 27, at approximately 6:47 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a two-vehicle crash on Hwy 101, near milepost 30, in Clatsop County.   The preliminary investigation indicated a Toyota Corolla, operated by Maria Guadalupe Nolazco Luna (20) of Cannon Beach, was southbound on Highway 101, near mile post 30, at the intersection with Sunset Boulevard. While making a left turn onto Sunset Boulevard, the sedan was struck on the passenger side by a northbound Dodge Ram 2500, operated by Jeffre Cottrell (41) of Rock Springs (WY). The operator of the Toyota declined medical transport from the scene and the operator of the Dodge was reportedly uninjured.   A passenger in the Toyota, a male juvenile (12), was transported to a local hospital where he later died of his injuries.   The highway was impacted for approximately 4 hours during the on-scene investigation.  The cause of the crash is under investigation.   OSP was assisted by the Cannon Beach Fire De

Coos County Sheriff's Office On March 28th, 2023, at 8:30 a.m., the Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dispatch Center received a call of a woman trespassing at the Sleepy Hollow Trailer Park in Bridge.  Deputies R. Baker and B. Freerkesn drove to the location and contacted the woman trespassing, who was identified as Cynthia Mayse. Mrs. Mayse was trespassed from the site and grabbed some of her belongings while leaving a purple backpack on the ground.  Mrs. Mayse was asked about the backpack and advised deputies that it wasn’t hers. No other owner of the bag was located. The pack was removed from the location at the R.V. Park’s request, believing it belonged to Mrs. Mayse.  A search of the backpack revealed a bag of a white/clear substance with visually sizable crystal-like rocks. The substance tested positive for Methamphetamine with a weight of 22 grams. The Methamphetamine was seized and logged into evidence for destruction. Click Here To Download Our App

LENGTHY POACHING CASE ENDS WITH CONVICTION- DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On March 17, 2023, Albert Lampert (69) of Glendale was found guilty of 21 misdemeanor charges relating to criminal trespassing and wildlife violations in Douglas County Circuit Court.  He was convicted by a jury of his peers after a 3-day trial.  The charges stemmed from an elk decoy operation that occurred in November 2020 by OSP Fish & Wildlife Troopers from the Roseburg and Coos Bay Area Commands. The investigation was concluded in January 2020 with a search warrant being served at Mr. Lampert’s residence. On March 23, 2023, Albert Lampert was sentenced in the Douglas County Circuit Court and immediately remanded to jail for 30 days. Additionally, he received five years of probation where he cannot be hunting, in the woods with a centerfire rifle, or be with anyone who is hunting. The penalty for violating his probation is six months of additional jail time. Mr. Lampert was also fined $2100, received a 3-year hunting license suspension, and forfeited his rifl

TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DUII AND SEIZURE OF SUSPECTED PSILOCYBIN MUSHROOMS-YAMHILL COUNTY

Oregon State Police On March 21, 2023, an Oregon State Police Trooper stopped a vehicle for speeding, driving 86 mph in a 55mph zone, on Highway 18 near milepost 31. The driver displayed signs of impairment, so the Trooper performed SFSTs.  The driver performed poorly and was arrested for DUII. While searching the vehicle for evidence of the DUII, the Trooper located 292 grams of suspected psilocybin mushrooms, along with multiple firearms, and a scale. The driver was transported to the Willamette Valley Medical Center where a blood/urine search warrant was applied for, granted, and executed before the driver was cited and released.  Additional commercial drug offense charges will be referred to the Yamhill County District Attorney's Office pending a controlled substance analysis. REDMOND POLICE SEEK PERSON(S) RESPONSIBLE FOR ABANDONING 15 CATS AT PAUL HATHAWAY PARK -- ASSISTANCE FROM THE PUBLIC REQUESTED

Redmond Police Dept. Redmond, Oregon  - On March 27, 2023, at approximately 8:00 a.m., Redmond officers responded to Paul Hathaway Park, 1021 NW Rockcrest Ct., where 15 cats (10 adults and 5 kittens) had been left in totes and abandoned near the canyon edge.  The cats smelled of urine and feces and didn’t have access to food or water.  Also located was a suitcase with cat food inside.  The cats were taken to Brightside Animal Shelter in Redmond, where they were evaluated, treated, and vaccinated by veterinary staff.      The Redmond Police Department is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for abandoning these cats. HUMAN REMAINS POSITIVELY IDENTIFIED, MAJOR CRIMES TEAM INVESTIGATING

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office GLIDE, Ore.  - The human remains found in the middle of February near Glide have been positively identified.   On Thursday, February 16, 2023, the Sheriff’s Office was notified by a caller that his son, who had been antler shed hunting, located what were believed to be human remains in the Thunder Mountain area of Glide.  Deputies located the area described and confirmed the presence of skeletal human remains. The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Investigations Division and Medical Examiner were notified and have been investigating the incident since the discovery.  The Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office has positively identified the remains of those belonging to Megan Dyanne Wendel of Roseburg. Wendel was previously reported missing to the Roseburg Police Department in July of 2022. Jai Lynn Irby left home in the 1400 block of NE 176 th  Ave., early in the morning of Mar. 19th. Jai Lynn’s family is worried about her welfare and say she may be in need of medical attention.  Jai Lynn is described by her family as a biracial female who is 6-feet and 2-inches tall and weighs 150 pounds. She has curly dark brown hair that is often tied back in a ponytail. OSP TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG SEIZURE- DESCHUTES COUNTY

Oregon State Police On March 21, 2023, at approximately 2:30 PM, an Oregon State Police Senior Trooper stopped a 2015 Nissan Altima for a vehicle equipment violation and for failure of a slower-moving vehicle to yield to overtaking vehicle, on northbound US 97 near milepost 161, in Deschutes County. During the traffic stop, the Senior Trooper noticed signs of criminal activity. An OSP narcotics detection canine was applied to the vehicle and alerted to the presence of a narcotic odor coming from the vehicle. A search of the vehicle was conducted. The Senior Trooper located approximately 36 pounds of suspected methamphetamine, and approximately two pounds of suspected heroin, which were concealed within the vehicle.  The driver identified as Anabel Torres (38), of Sunnyside, Washington, and the passenger identified as Audel Torres Perez, (38), of Sunnyside, Washington, were interviewed and released pending referred charges. SHERIFF'S OFFICE TO CONDUCT TRAINING AT GREEN AND SUNNYSLOPE ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS

Sheriff's Office ROSEBURG, Ore.  - The Douglas County Sheriff's Office will be holding an in-service training for Sheriff’s Office deputies and staff from all divisions during Roseburg School District's Spring Break. The training will take place Tuesday, March 28th -Thursday, March 30th.  The training will be held at Green and Sunnyslope Elementary schools. DCSO staff will receive instruction in First Aid/CPR and ethics. Deputies will also participate in scenario based training. These continuing education hours keep deputies current with their certification requirements mandated by the Oregon Department of Public Safety Standards and Training and to maintain a professional level of service.  In the interest of public notification and awareness, community members should be aware that the scenario based training will look like an active shooter/active threat response. Lakeside man arrested after giving a false name to Dunes Deputy on a traffic stop

Coos County Sheriff's Office On Saturday, March 25, 2023, at 11:47 a.m., a Coos County Sheriff’s Office Dunes Deputy patrolled the Lakeside ATV Route near Airport Way and N. 8 th Street in Lakeside, Oregon. Deputy M.R. Smith observed a white Ford van conduct a traffic violation on Airport Way and conducted a traffic stop of the vehicle. The passenger quickly exited the car and walked away from the traffic stop. The driver stated he did not have an Oregon-issued identification with him. The driver also noted that the vehicle was his; however, he had no legal paperwork. The driver provided false information to the deputy by name and date of birth.  Deputy M.R. Smith exhausted all avenues to identify the driver and eventually arrested him for failing to carry and present a license. Gresham Police Investigating Homicide

Gresham Police Dept   Gresham, Ore.— The Gresham Police Department and the East County Major Crimes Team (MCT)  are investigating a homicide that occurred in the 500 block of SE 197th Ave. Officers received a 911 call at 7:23 a.m., noting a subject down on the sidewalk, bleeding. Officers, along with Gresham Fire, responded to the location and found the subject was deceased.     An autopsy performed at the State Medical Examiner's office determined, the victim Portland resident Michael Lashone Hatcher, 35, died of gun violence. This is an active investigation, and no further details are available at this time. Fatal Crash - Interstate 5 - Douglas County

Oregon State Police On Friday, March 24, 2023, at approximately 5:58 A.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a two vehicle crash on Interstate 5 (southbound), near milepost 166, in Douglas County. The preliminary investigation indicated a Freightliner CMV and semi-trailer, operated by Joel Lockhart (29) of White City (OR), was southbound and lost control striking the center barrier where it came to rest. A Nissan Murano, operated by Karen Sweesy (46) of Monroe (WA), was southbound and came upon the disabled CMV and semi-trailer. The Nissan crashed into the left rear corner of the semi-trailer. Sweesy was pronounced deceased at the scene by EMS.  A passenger in the Nissan, Shari Landerville (59) of Monroe (WA), received serious injuries and was taken to Sacred Heart Medical Center at Riverbend. THREE VICTIMS DECEASED AFTER SHOOTING IN THE PORTSMOUTH NEIGHBORHOOD

Portland Police Bureau On Saturday, March 25, 2023 at 12:23p.m., North Precinct Officers responded to a report of a shooting at North Foss Avenue and North Foss Court. When they arrived they located three victims in a car. EMS responded as well and determined that all three were deceased at the scene. The suspect or suspects left the scene before police were dispatched and were not immediately located. No arrests have been made. Portland Police Homicide Unit has responded to the scene, along with the Enhanced Community Safety Team, Focused Intervention Team, Crisis Response Team, and Forensic Evidence Division. FATAL CRASH - HWY 138W - DOUGLAS COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Thursday, March 23, 2023, at approximately 12:36 P.M., the Oregon State Police responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 138W, near milepost 19, in Douglas County. The preliminary investigation indicated an International Box Truck, operated by Jose Cortez Hurtado (68) of Salem, was eastbound on Hwy 138W, when for unknown reasons, it went across the roadway and partially onto the westbound shoulder. The truck veered back across the roadway and onto the eastbound shoulder where it crashed into a tree. Hurtado was pronounced deceased at the scene by first responders.  The highway remained open during the on-scene crash investigation. Update: Suspected Bank Robber Located and Arrested

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office   Late yesterday, a community member saw the photo of the bank robber on a local news story and informed deputies that he was staying at a hotel in Forest Grove. Deputies contacted the person at the hotel and arrested him. On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 8:32 p.m., a community member called non-emergency dispatch and reported they saw a news story on the bank robbery and knew the man was staying at America’s Best Value Inn & Suites in Forest Grove. Officers from Forest Grove Police Department and deputies from the Sheriff’s Office and Cornelius Police Department went to the motel and contacted the man, 70-year-old Craig Haberman, outside of his hotel room and arrested him. Haberman was transported to the Washington County Jail and lodged on two outstanding warrants – one for an unrelated bank robbery. Man Arrested in Shady Cove Linked to Several Unsolved Burglaries, Leads Investigators to Keys for 20 Local Businesses, 43-Grams Fentanyl Seized

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office   SHADY COVE, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) Shady Cove deputies arrested a man after he attempted to break into a local RV park front office Tuesday afternoon in the 21000 block of Highway 62. An observer witnessed the man acting suspiciously in the area and alerted authorities. JCSO deputies responded, detained and identified the suspect discovering he had a total of eight outstanding warrants for his arrest and a parole violation.  While searching the suspect, deputies found 14-grams of methamphetamine on his person. A search of his vehicle uncovered 43.7-grams of fentanyl in multiple baggies packaged for sale, evidence of several additional burglaries, and burglary tools. Medford Police Department (MPD) detectives responded to assist in the investigation and along with JCSO deputies were able to link the suspect to burglaries from throughout the Rogue Valley. News Release: Woodburn Police Seek Suspect Wanted for Multiple Felonies

Woodburn Police   On Tuesday, March 21, 2023 at approximately 3:09 p.m., Woodburn Police officers observed 26-year-old Jesus Camarena enter a residence in the 1000 block of Williams Ave in Woodburn. The officers, aware Camarena had multiple felony warrants issued for his arrest, set a perimeter around the residence and requested other individuals inside to exit. Camarena was not observed exiting during this time.  Due to serious nature of the warrants, the Marion County Regional SWAT Team was requested to conduct a search of the residence. A shelter-in-place was issued at approximately 4:30 p.m. for residents in the 1000 block of Williams Ave, and a section of Highway 99E was closed in both directions between Lincoln St and Hardcastle Ave. At approximately 5:42 p.m. a warrant was signed by a Marion County Judge to search the residence for Camarena. Deputies Ask for the Community's Help in Locating Bank Robber

Sheriff's Office This afternoon, deputies responded to a bank robbery and are now asking for the public’s help locating the bank robber who was recorded on surveillance cameras.  On Wednesday, March 22, 2023, at 12:09 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies serving the City of Cornelius responded to a bank robbery at the US Bank located at 1735 N Adair Street. After deputies arrived, they learned a man had presented a bank teller with a note demanding money, and the man left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. Deputies and Hillsboro Police Officers searched the area for the man but did not find him. GRESHAM POLICE ATTEMPTING TO IDENTIFY WITNESS

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.—Just before 5:30 p.m. on May 25, 2022, Gresham Police responded to reports of a shooting at 18837 SE Yamhill St., the East Park Place Apartment complex. When officers arrived, they located a Vancouver, Wash., man outside, suffering from a gunshot wound.
