Fatal Crash near Seal Rock

Oregon State Police  - 01/11/19  On Thursday, January 10, 2019 at about 8:45 pm, Oregon State Police (OSP) Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a two vehicle fatal crash on US Hwy 101 near milepost 152, just south of Seal Rock. Preliminary investigation revealed a blue 2001 Lexus SUV, operated by Patricia Norenberg, age 55, of Waldport, was driving southbound on US Hwy 101 when she drifted into the northbound lane of travel.  A northbound gold 2008 Toyota van driven by Richard Larrett, age 85, of Lincoln City, and the two vehicles collided partially head-on. Larrett’s passenger, Judith Larrett, age 81, of Lincoln City, was pronounced deceased at the scene. Norenberg and Richard Larrett were transported by ambulance to Newport’s Samaritan Pacific Communities Hospital due to their injuries.   US Hwy 101 was closed about just over 3 hours following the crash however, a detour had been established to help traffic. JCSO SAR to Host Large Animal Rescue Class

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office  - 01/10/19  CENTRAL POINT, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) search and rescue (SAR) will host a two-day class to teach people how to rescue large animals in emergency situations.  SAR staff and volunteers will attend, but the course is also offered to the public, free of charge.  The Technical Large Animal Emergency Rescue (TLAER) course will be held February 2 and 3, 2019, at the Jackson County Expo, Olsrud Arena, in Central Point.  The course, taught by Rebecca M. Gimenez, Ph.D., teaches responders how to rescue livestock and other large animals in a variety of scenarios and conditions. Human sex trafficking investigation of convicted felon results in prison sentence for 31 year old man

District Attorney's Office  - 01/10/19 Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill announced 31-year-old Marvin Glenn Mitchell received a five year and nine month prison sentence following a human sex trafficking investigation conducted by the Portland Police Bureau. On January 4, 2019, Mitchell pleaded guilty to two counts of promoting prostitution and one count of assault in the fourth degree constituting domestic violence. Mitchell admitted that in March 2017 he intentionally engaged in conduct that aided, facilitated and promoted the sex trafficking of two females. Furthermore, Mitchell admitted that he knowingly caused physical injury to one of the females and that the assault was committed in the immediate presence of a child.   According to court records, Mitchell was ordered to register as a sex offender after being convicted of promoting prostitution in 2010. Vehicle vs Pedestrian Crash on S Hwy 97 in Redmond

Redmond Police Dept.  - 01/10/19 Redmond, OR – Redmond Police and Fire & Rescue personnel responded to a vehicle versus pedestrian crash at approximately 5:30 PM, January 9, 2019.  The crash occurred in the 2400 block of S Hwy 97, near Lucky 7 Deli & Lottery and Madeline’s Restaurant. The investigation is ongoing.  At this time, preliminary information indicates a male adult, Mr. Randall Sullenger, 49-years-old, from the Redmond area, was attempting to cross S Hwy 97 from east to west and stepped out in front of oncoming traffic.  A vehicle in the right lane of northbound traffic was able to stop for the pedestrian, while a vehicle in the left lane of northbound traffic did not see the pedestrian and struck him.  The vehicle involved, a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee, was traveling with the flow of traffic, 40 to 45 miles per hour.  Mr. Sullenger sustained serious injuries and was ultimately transported by ground ambulance to St Charles Medical Center-Bend.  Life Flight was act

Armed Male Arrested at Medford Airport

Medford Police Dept.  - 01/10/19  On January 10th, 2019 at about 1:20 p.m., Medford Police officers were dispatched at the Medford Airport for a male who was armed with a handgun, refusing to show identification and requesting to board an airplane. Upon our arrival, officers learned that the unknown suspect was still at the TSA checkpoint to enter the secure area armed with a handgun in a shoulder holster and requesting to board an airplane. He would not produce identification or a boarding pass. Officers began talking to the suspect who was uncooperative. One of the officers, trained in hostage negotiations attempted to speak to the suspect without success. Ultimately, the suspect was asked to leave and he refused. Officers attempted to take the suspect into custody for trespassing, and the suspect resisted. DUII Crash Causes Power Outage

Sheriff's Office  - 01/10/19 ROGUE RIVER, Ore. – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies believe both impairment and distracted driving contributed to a Wednesday morning crash that caused a power outage north of Rogue River.  The 3000-block of East Evans Creek Road was partially closed while Pacific Power workers repaired power lines damaged in the crash. On January 9, 2019, at 12:35 a.m., dispatch received a 911 call from a neighbor who heard the crash and noticed a power outage.  JCSO deputies, along with personnel from the Rogue River Police Department and the Rogue River Fire District, responded to the scene. Deputies determined the vehicle, a white 2014 Jeep Compass, was northbound on East Evans Creek Road when the driver failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway.  The vehicle struck a power pole and came to rest in a ditch.  The power pole was heavily fractured with power lines hanging near the ground. Sheriff's Office arrests Welches man on attempted-murder charges after violent domestic dispute

Sheriff's Office  - 01/10/19  Shortly after midnight on Wednesday, Jan. 9, Clackamas County Sheriff's Office deputies responded to a reported domestic disturbance at a residence on the 68300 block of E. Twinberry Loop in Welches. The suspect --  William Joseph Bouley , 61 -- had reportedly severely beaten the victim with a piece of wood during an argument. (Initial reports suggest that Bouley believed he had beaten the victim to death, and was threatening to kill himself; deputies and responding Sandy Fire paramedics would quickly learn the victim was instead severely injured.) Both Bouley and the victim -- his girlfriend -- live at the residence. Deputies arrived at the scene and established a perimeter. Deputies contacted Bouley by phone, and instructed him to walk outside. He complied, and was taken into custody by deputies on the south side of the residence. Detectives Seeking Public's Assistance Identifying Suspect in Numerous Bank Robberies

Sheriff's Office  - 01/10/19  On Monday, December 24, 2018, at 9:13 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a robbery at Columbia Bank, located at 4805 Southwest 77th Avenue in the Raleigh Hills community. Witnesses reported that an unknown male approached the counter and passed a note to a teller demanding money. The suspect then fled the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. Deputies, assisted by Beaverton Police, conducted an extensive search of the area but the suspect was not located. No injuries were reported. Sheriff’s office detectives are releasing images of the suspect and asking for the public’s assistance identifying him. He is believed to be the suspect in numerous bank robberies in the Portland metro area. The suspect is described as a 50 to 60-year-old white male, approximately 5-foot-8 tall, medium build, gray-haired, and wearing prescription eyeglasses. Three Fishermen Die When Boat Capsizes Near Newport

Oregon State Police  - 01/10/19 On January 8, 2019 a little before 10:00 PM, the US Coast Guard was notified of a boat needing assistance crossing the Yaquina Bay bar due to high seas. US Coast Guard left the Yaquina Bay station and at 10:13 PM Oregon State Police was advised the Fishing Vessel Mary B II had capsized with three people on board. The search immediately began and the US Coast Guard, with their helicopter, found James Lacey (age 48 from South Toms River, NJ) in the Pacific Ocean and transported him to Pacific Communities Hospital, in Newport, where he was pronounced deceased. At 12:28 AM, Newport Fire Department found Joshua Porter (age 50 from Toledo, Oregon) on the beach, near Nye Beach, where he was pronounced deceased. The Mary B II ultimately ran aground, on the beach, near the north side of the Yaquina Bay North Jetty. The boat Skipper, Stephen Biernacki (age 50 from Barnegat Township, NJ) was found with the boat and pronounced deceased at the scene.

Large Salal Seizure (Forest Product)

Lincoln Co. Sheriff's Office  - 01/08/19  On January 6th, 2019 the United States Forest Service and the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, with assistance from the Oregon State Police (not pictured), seized an unusually large quantity of salal from a commercial operation in the Siuslaw National Forest. The salal was harvested and stored in violation of the commercial permits issued by the United States Forest Service to regulate the commercial harvesting of the product. The seized salal has a wholesale value of approximately $4000. Salal is a dark, leafy, evergreen plant indigenous to the coastal regions of the Pacific Northwest. Salal harvested in the forested lands of Lincoln County is shipped worldwide and is commonly used in floral arrangements. Salal is a Special Forest Product under ORS 164.813, which regulates the cutting and transport of the product with and without a permit. Hillsboro Police Investigate Tractor Damaging ATM

Hillsboro Police Dept.  - 01/08/19  At 2:12 a.m., officers responded to reports of a person driving a tractor over a drive-through ATM at Wells Fargo, 7200 Northeast Butler Street. The tractor drove over the machine, causing substantial damage. The driver and another suspect, waiting in a U-Haul van, stole an undetermined amount of cash from the ATM before driving away. Officers attempted to stop the U-Haul on Northeast Cornell Road, but ended the pursuit for safety reasons.  A few minutes later, officers responded to reports of suspicious activity and found the U-Haul abandoned on Northeast Aloclek Drive, north of Northeast Evergreen Parkway.  The suspects were not found after a police K-9 unit searched the area. 

McMinnville ATM theft attempt

McMinnville Police Dept.  - 01/08/19  On December 25th at about 0255 hours McMinnville units were dispatched to an ATM alarm at First Federal Bank located at 350 NE Baker Creek Rd. in McMinnville.  When officers arrived on scene they found that a large piece of construction equipment, later determined to be stolen from near the location, had been used to push the ATM off of its’ concrete mooring and across the street. Both the construction equipment and the ATM were abandoned at the scene.  The investigation is ongoing.  We are aware of the Hillsboro case similarities and have been in contact with their investigators. Trespass Call Leads to Seizure of Drugs, Guns, and Money--Six Arrested

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office  - 01/08/19  On Monday January 7th, 2019 at approximately 11:59 a.m., Deputies responded to a report of people trespassing at a vacant home in the 7000 Block of Albus Road SE. Deputies arrived on scene and saw a male standing in the driveway near a vehicle. While speaking with the male, he reached towards his waistband and was quickly detained. During a pat down of the subject deputies found two loaded firearms and ammunition. Deputies searched the vehicle and discovered three pounds of methamphetamine and another firearm.  The male was identified as 35-year-old Gerardo Figueroa. Figueroa told deputies that more people were still in the house with drugs and guns. He was arrested and booked into the Marion County Jail on charges of Delivery of Methamphetamine, Trespass II, and Unlawful Possession of a Firearm. Investigation Continues in Sunday Afternoon Officer Involved Shooting

Portland Police Bureau  - 01/07/19  The Portland Police Bureau, East County Major Crimes Team, Multnomah County District Attorney's Office and City of Portland's Independent Police Review continue to investigate the officer-involved shooting that occurred on Sunday, January 6, 2019, at a residence in the 9600 block of Southeast Market Street. The Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office performed an autopsy on the deceased this morning. The deceased's name and cause of death will be provided once his next of kin are notified. This is an active and ongoing investigation. Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office  - 01/07/19  WINSTON, Ore.  - It has been 1 month since 77 year-old Geraldine Donna Galer of Winston was last seen. Deputies are still seeking information as to her whereabouts.  Galer was last seen driving a gray 2002 GMC Safari Van with Oregon license plate YRC203. She is described as 5'04'' tall, 130 lbs, with gray hair and brown eyes. She may be suffering from a medical condition which has caused confusion and an altered state of mind. She was last seen on December 8, 2018, at approximately 10:13 am in the 800-block of Summit View Avenue in Sutherlin.  "Mrs. Galer could be anywhere inside or outside of Douglas County because she was mobile in a vehicle. We really need the help of the community to be aware of this case and report any information to our office. We want to provide her loved ones with some answers," said Sgt. Lucas Ebert sentenced to 17 years in prison for child sex crimes, elder financial abuse

District Attorney's Office  - 01/07/19 Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill announced 28-year-old Lucas Ebert received a 17 year prison sentence following an extensive investigation conducted by the Gresham Police Department and the Multnomah County Multidisciplinary Child Abuse Team. "In his lifetime, [Lucas Ebert] has left a depressingly long string of victims in his wake. Since his first felony adjudication in 2005, the defendant has victimized and financially devastated friends, family, strangers, customers and businesses,” Multnomah County Deputy District Attorney Chuck Mickley, who prosecuted Ebert, said during Monday’s sentencing hearing. An indictment filed in 2017 charged Ebert with sexually abusing a minor child and videotaping the abuse. UPDATE - Hwy 18 - Newberg/Dundee Bypass closed by crash - Yamhill County

Oregon State Police  - 01/07/19 Investigation shows that a 2006 Freightliner pulling two empty tanker trailers, operated by Andres Resendez (52) of Sheridan, was eastbound on the Newberg/Dundee bypass and a 2012 Freightliner pulling two trailers loaded with poultry cages (no poultry), operated by Daniel Green (45) of Winlock, WA. was westbound when due to icy conditions these two vehicles collided.   Resendez and Green sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. A 2000 Hyundai, operated by Delia Lake (23) of McMinnville, was unable to stop and struck the back of one of the tanker trailers.  She sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to the hospital. The Newberg/Dundee bypass was opened at approximately 4:00 P.M. Woman Arrested for Eluding, Menacing Deputy

Sheriff's Office  - 01/07/19 JACKSONVILLE, Ore. – A 19-year-old woman is lodged in jail on several charges Monday morning after leading a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputy on a pursuit to her home, and then brandishing an SKS-style rifle.  After a short standoff, the woman was taken into custody.  The weapon turned out to be a pellet gun. On Monday, January 7, 2019, at 3:35 a.m., a deputy attempted to stop a 2000 Cadillac Escalade for traffic violations on Highway 238 near Humbug Creek Road.  The vehicle accelerated and continued to a residence in the 100-block of Humbug Creek Road.  The female driver, later identified as Shayna Joy Stanford, 19, parked the vehicle in the driveway and ran into the residence.  She reappeared at the doorway moments later pointing a rifle outside.  Stanford refused to come out of the home.  Deputies negotiated with Stanford for approximately 15 minutes and, with the assistance of her parents, convinced her to step outside.  St

Former delivery driver receives prison sentence for stealing hundreds of Amazon packages

Multnomah Co. District Attorney's Office  - 01/07/19 Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill announced 34-year-old Heriberto Villarino-Zamora received a 1.5 year prison sentence and was ordered to repay $50,000 for stealing hundreds of Amazon packages. On November 7, 2018, Villarino-Zamora pleaded guilty to one count of aggravated theft in the first degree. This investigation started in December 2017 when detectives assigned to the Portland Police Bureau were working a concentrated mission on people suspected of selling stolen property using the website and smartphone application “OfferUp.” As part of the investigation, a search warrant was conducted at a residence in the 1300 block of Northwest Wonderview Drive in Gresham, Oregon. During the investigation, law enforcement located two vehicles full of stolen packages sent from Amazon to addresses throughout Oregon. Missing Oakland Man's Vehicle Located

Sheriff's Office  - 01/06/19  UPDATE 1/7/19 The Douglas County Medical Examiner has notified the family of Nicholas Blum that the decedent from the fatal car crash has been positively identified as Nicholas Blum.  The exact date of Blum's death is unknown, however evidence indicates that the crash occurred around the time he was reported missing.  TYEE, Ore.  -- The vehicle of a missing Sutherlin man was recovered on Sunday, January 6, 2019. The Sheriff's Office received a call from a citizen who had been fishing in the area of the 18000-block of Tyee Road when located a vehicle in the river.  Deputies responded and located the vehicle on its top completely submerged in river. Vehicle veers off Hwy 101 and crashes into propane tank near Florence - Lane County

Oregon State Police  - 01/06/19  On Saturday, January 5, 2019 at approximately 1:28 P.M.  Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a report of a vehicle that crashed into a propane tank at One Stop Market, located on the east side of Hwy 101 near milepost 192. Preliminary investigation revealed that a maroon 1997 Ford Explorer, operated by Buzz Berry (60) of Florence, was southbound on Hwy 101 when the vehicle veered off the roadway, through the fence at 85089 Hwy 101, through trees/shrubs, became airborne, crashed into top of commercial propane tank at One Stop Market gas station, and came to rest in gas station parking lot. Propane tank was ruptured and Hwy 101 had to be shut down until the tank was empty.  Surrounding residences and buildings were evacuated.  Hwy 101 was opened at approximately 2:35 P.M.  Berry was transported to Florence PeaceHealth Hospital for minor injuries. Search and Rescue recover two bodies inside a submerged vehicle on the Collawash River

Sheriff's Office  - 01/05/19  On Thursday January 3, 2019, the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue (SAR) team responded to the area of the Ripplebrook Ranger Station, which is approximately 25 miles east of Estacada along HWY 224, on a report of 2 missing adults.  The Sheriff’s Office received information that Kevin Shaver and Chase Villarreal had not returned from their trip into East County and were last seen in their red Chevrolet Tahoe. After an extensive search, on January 4, 2019, at approximately 7:30 p.m. searchers located the vehicle fully submerged in the Collawash River.  Searchers located a dog along the far bank of the river and were able to rescue the dog on January 4th and then return on January 5th to retrieve the vehicle. On January 5th Marine and Dive Rescue responded and were able to remove the vehicle from the river.  Inside the vehicle rescuers found the bodies of Mr. Shaver and Mr. Villarreal.  Families of both men have been n

K9 Bonni Apprehends Fleeing Wanted Subject

Sheriff's Office  - 01/05/19  Garcia-Mendoza At around midnight on January 5th, 2019 Lincoln County Sheriff’s Deputy Shawn Carter initiated a traffic stop on a vehicle for minor traffic violation.  As the vehicle slowed to a stop on Neotsu Drive in Lincoln City, a male passenger quickly exited and ran away on foot.  Senior Deputy Carter recognized the male as 26 year-old Felix Daniel Garcia-Mendoza of Albany.  Senior Deputy Carter had information that Garcia-Mendoza was wanted for outstanding felony arrest warrants at both the State and the Federal level. Additional units from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office and Lincoln City Police Department arrived to assist Senior Deputy Carter as he deployed K9 Bonni to begin searching the area.  Senior Deputy Carter and K9 Bonni tracked Garcia-Mendoza to the crawl space of a vacant house nearby where responders issued him commands to surrender.  Garcia-Mendoza was non-compliant with the verbal commands and eventually K

Gresham Police Dept  - 01/04/19  Gresham, Ore. – Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 77-year-old man with medical issues. Bernard Brown was last seen today around 2:30 p.m. leaving his residence near Centennial High School to walk his dog. Brown has gray hair, blue eyes, is approximately 5-feet-6-inches tall and 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue hat, dark gray coat, black shirt and blue jeans. Brown is non-verbal and has partial paralysis due to a previous stroke. Anyone who knows of Brown’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.

K-9 Stark Captures Car Prowler in Bethany, Stolen Property Recovered

Sheriff's Office  - 01/04/19  On Friday, January 4, 2018, at 2:33 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of car prowlers in the 6000 block of Northwest Calypso Terrace in Bethany. A community member reported that three people were trying to enter a vehicle and later seen running away. Corporal Micah Akin and his partner, K-9 Stark, responded to assist. After 15 minutes of searching, Stark located Ramon Zendejas-Holt, 19 of Portland, hiding in a residential backyard. In his possession, deputies located a wallet they later learned had been stolen from an unlocked vehicle parked nearby. Deputies were able to find the owner of the wallet and return it. Deputies located Mr. Zendejas-Holt’s Volkswagen sedan nearby‎, which was occupied by two females. Jorge Beltran receives 12 year prison sentence for attempting to murder three teens in Gresham

Multnomah Co. District Attorney's Office  - 01/04/19 Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill announced 27-year-old Jorge Beltran received a 12 year prison sentence after a jury found him guilty in August 2018 of attempting to murder three people inside a residence on October 14, 2017 in Gresham, Oregon. Trial began on August 28, 2018 and was presided over by Multnomah County Circuit Court Judge Leslie M. Roberts. On February 27, 2018, Beltran, 26, was indicted on three counts of attempted aggravated murder, three counts of attempted murder, three counts of unlawful use of a weapon and one count each of being a felon in possession of a firearm and one count of assault in the fourth degree. The jury found the defendant guilty on all counts except for the assault in the fourth degree charge. Gresham, Ore. – Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 61-year-old man with a past traumatic brain injury. James Reynolds was last seen on foot today around 6 p.m. near 181st Ave. and Stark St. Reynolds has red hair, blue eyes, is approximately 6-feet-2-inches tall and 160 pounds. He was last seen wearing a blue jacket, jeans and black shoes. Anyone who knows of Reynold’s whereabouts is asked to call 911.

Oregon State Police  - 01/03/19  On Thursday, January 3, 2019 at approximately 12:20 PM - Oregon State Police Troopers were traveling north in Interstate 5 near milepost 272 when they observed an adult male in the lanes of travel disrupting traffic. The troopers tried to contact the subject and he ran through traffic attempting to gain entry into several vehicles.  The troopers along with the public's assistance were able to detain the subject before he injured himself or others.    He has been identified as Vyacheslav Burlachenko (38) of Salem.  He was cited for disorderly conduct, resisting arrest, and unlawful entry into a motor vehicle and transported to the Salem Hospital for evaluation.. There were no crashes reported, however a semi-truck had to make an avoiding maneuver causing the load to shift and damaging the truck.    OSP was assisted by the Woodburn Police Department and the Marion County Community Outreach Response Team.

Pedestrian hit on Hwy 97 near Chemult - Klamath County

Oregon State Police  - 01/03/19  On Wednesday, January 2, 2019 at approximately 11:10 P.M. Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to the report of a pedestrian struck by a vehicle on Hwy 97 near milepost 204. Investigation revealed that a Hyundai Sonata, operated by Caleb Robichaud (22) of Spokane, was northbound on Hwy 97 when it struck a pedestrian identified as, David Ralphs-Thomason (37) of Portland, who was in the northbound lane of travel. Ralphs-Thomason sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. OSP was assisted by the Chemult Fire Department and Crescent Ambulance.

Oregon State Police  - 01/03/19  The Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife Division is asking for the public’s assistance in identifying the person(s) responsible for shooting and leaving a cow elk on the morning of December 27, 2018 in Douglas County, OR. Investigation revealed that a cow elk was shot with a high caliber rifle and left to waste in a clear-cut between Tyee Access Road and Bullock road about two miles west of the Wolf Creek Ranch. A vehicle of interest is a compact truck occupied by two or more adult males (late teens or early 20's) which traveled from Bullock Road to Tyee Access Road that morning. Suspect Lodged at Multnomah County Jail Following Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation

Portland Police Bureau  - 01/03/19  The suspect arrested during a domestic violence disturbance that resulted in an officer-involved shooting on Thursday, January 2, 2019, has been lodged in the Multnomah County Jail. The suspect, 34-year-old Anita M. Ruiz, was lodged in the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Menacing and Unlawful Use of a Weapon. Members with the Portland Police Bureau Detective Division's Homicide Detail, Professional Standards Division and Training Division, along with members of the Multnomah County District Attorney's Office and City of Portland's Independent Police Review Board continue this officer-involved shooting investigation. Based on information gathered at this time in the investigation, detectives believe shortly after officers responded to a domestic disturbance at an apartment in the Stacy Lee Apartments, located at 141 Northeast 147th Avenue, they contacted several people involved in the disturbance.
