Linn County Sheriff's Office Seizes Horses in Animal Neglect Case

Linn County Sheriff's Office Linn County Sheriff Jim Yon reports on Wednesday, April 24, at 07:34 a.m., his deputies served a search warrant and seized 34 horses from Carol Davidson, 69, and Edward Davidson, 66, both residents on Berlin Road outside of Lebanon Linn County Sheriff’s Office Animal Control has been working with the Davidsons’ since December 2018, after receiving complaints of the horses standing in muddy conditions.  In January 2019, Deputy Corey Putney drove by the address and noticed numerous horses still standing in muddy conditions, as well as a dead horse that was not properly disposed of. Deputy Putney cited Carol Davidson for Placing an Offensive Substance near Waterway/Highway/Property as well as, Fail to License Dogs. Deputy Putney also noticed that the horses were starting to show signs of poor health including unhealthy weight loss since he last saw them the month prior. Illegal Marijuana Growing Operation - Jackson County

Oregon State Police  On April 11, 2019, after a several month long investigation into black market marijuana exportation from Oregon to several Midwestern states, the Oregon State Police-Southwest Region Marijuana team executed a search warrant at a property in the 3900 block of Independence School Rd. Medford, Oregon.  Investigators discovered a large scale indoor marijuana growing operation, which was not licensed or legal.  Two (2) individuals were detained on site. The investigation revealed the illegal operation was being managed by Gregory Martin Day(24) of North Carolina.  Investigators removed and destroyed 14,497 marijuana plants weighing 1,907.7 lbs.  The approximate street value is estimated at $15,000,000.00 dollars (after the marijuana was fully processed)   Also seized during the search warrant were; $557,488.00 US Currency, 29-Firearms including two (2) fully-automatic rifles, 6,000 (Butane Honey Oil) BHO cartridges, 141,838.3 gross grams of other BHO pr

Roseburg Police K9 Helps Capture Fugitive

Roseburg Police Dept. On April 25th, 2019 just after 0200 hours Officers with the Myrtle Creek Police Department attempted to apprehend a fugitive on Weaver Road.  The suspect, 24 year old Steven Largent, jumped out of the vehicle he was driving, ran down an embankment, and through brush.  A perimeter was established by Myrtle Creek PD and the Douglas County Sheriff's Office, and K9 Nike with the Roseburg Police Department was called to assist. K9 Nike tracked Largent along the railroad tracks and up a hill, where he was found hiding in some tall grass.  Largent refused to cooperate or come out, so K9 Nike was sent in and performed a biting capture of Largent, who was detained without further incident.  Largent was lodged at Douglas County Corrections.

Multiple Business Burglary Investigations lead to arrests

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety Over the last couple of weeks, the same individuals burglarized several Grants Pass businesses. Grants Pass Detectives were actively investigating the rash of burglaries and attempting to develop suspect information. On 4/24/2019, Detectives from Visalia California called the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety with information about Michael and Christopher Bradsteen. Detectives from Visalia were also investigating a rash of business burglaries in their area and they had identified Michael and Christopher Bradsteen as suspects. The two were believed to have traveled to the Grants Pass area, where they were conducting the same type of burglaries.  Grants Pass Detectives with the help of Visalia Detectives were able to locate Michael and Christopher Bradsteen at a motel in Grants Pass. Lincoln County Search and Rescue Finds Missing Individuals

Lincoln Co. Sheriff's Office On April 20th, at approximately 7:30 PM, Lincoln County Search and Rescue (SAR) had just finished successfully locating a missing subject in the Yachats area when they were re-deployed to find a missing 83 year-old male in the South Beach area.  SAR personnel began searching the area on foot and via ATV, but were unsuccessful during the first day. Search efforts continued on April 21st and lasted the entire day.  Two K9 teams from Lane County Search and Rescue arrived to assist the Lincoln County teams.  As darkness began to fall, an ATV team was retrieving a K9 search team from their mission area and noticed a human form on a clear cut about 500 meters away.  The subject did not respond to yelling or signalling.  The nearby ground search team was re-tasked to make contact with the subject, but had difficulty reaching him due to hazardous terrain. The ground search team reached the subject and confirmed he was the missing 83 year-old.  On-site

Deputies Investigating Suspicious Death

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office On April 20th at 11:09 pm, deputies responded to the report of a possible in progress assault in the 12000 block of Twin Creeks Lane SE, located in the Jefferson area of Marion County.  When they arrived on scene, they located a 55 year-old female who was deceased.  Detectives continued their investigation into the death throughout the weekend. This morning, April 22nd, an autopsy was conducted by the State Medical Examiner’s Office.  They have determined the death to be a homicide as a result of asphyxiation and blunt force trauma.  The female victim has been identified as Robin Stender of Jefferson.  The victim’s next of kin have been notified and are requesting no contact from media. Detectives have arrested Derek Johnson, a 39 year-old Portland man, in connection to the death.  He is currently lodged at the Marion County Jail on the charge of Murder. Roseburg Fire Department to Conduct Training at Old Safeway Site

Roseburg Fire Department The City of Roseburg Fire Department will be conducting training exercises at the site of the Old Safeway, located at 406 SE Rose Street, from April 22 to May 1, 2019. The training site is currently a vacant building located in Downtown Roseburg.  The training objectives will include Roof Operations and Defensive Fire Operations.  This training opportunity will allow local firefighters the ability to train together, in addition to continuing the development of their firefighting skills.  Firefighters from Douglas County Fire District #2 will also be participating in the training. Homicide Investigation in Shady Cove

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office SHADY COVE – Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives are releasing the names of the persons involved in a homicide in Shady Cove over Easter weekend.  Two women were found dead at a residence in the 500-block of Sarma Drive on the morning of Sunday, April 21, 2019.  One man was taken into custody at the scene and lodged in jail. Deputies responded to the home following a 911 call from the residence on April 21 at 10:13 a.m.  The victims, Shirley Kay Gann, 62, and her daughter, Judy Mae Gann, 43, both had apparent gunshot wounds.  The Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct autopsies to complete the identification process and to determine the official cause and manner of death.  Responding deputies arrested Kit Warren Wilkins, 59, at the scene.  Wilkins is currently lodged in the Jackson County jail, charged with two counts of aggravated murder.  Detectives served a search warrant at the residence on Sunday.  Investig

Sheriff's Office   SHADY COVE, Ore. - Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives are investigating a homicide in Shady Cove.  Detectives say one person of interest is currently in custody; there is no known threat to the public regarding this incident. On Sunday, April 21, 2019, at 10:13 a.m., dispatch received a 911 call from a residence in the 500-block of Sarma Drive.  Deputies arrived on scene at 10:39 a.m. An investigator with the Jackson County Medical Examiner’s Office responded to the scene.  Detectives believe they have identified the deceased; however, the next-of-kin have not yet been notified. Four Teens Injured In Early Morning Crash

Sheriff's Office On Sunday, April 21, 2019, at 12:31 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an injury crash near the intersection of SW Tile Flat Road and SW Grabhorn Road in unincorporated Beaverton. It was reported that two vehicles collided head-on and that at least two people were trapped inside of a 1986 Audi 400. Personnel from Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue arrived with deputies and began working to extricate three passengers from the Audi. During the investigation, deputies learned the Audi was traveling eastbound on SW Tile Flat Road and a 1998 Toyota Camry was traveling westbound. The driver of the Toyota lost control of his vehicle while attempting to negotiate a curve and went into the oncoming lane, colliding head-on with the Audi. Motor Vehicle Crash DUII Investigation

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office On Saturday, 042019, at approximately 11:23 PM, deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office responded to a report of an unknown injury motor vehicle crash on O'Neil Highway at NE 5th Street north of Redmond, Oregon.  Upon arrival, deputies determined two occupants were self extricating from a 2004 Ford F-250 pickup and reporting they were not injured.  An investigation determined the driver, Jeffrey Lenhardt, was traveling westbound on O'Neil Highway and failed to negotiate a 90 degree left curve in the roadway.  The vehicle traveled off the roadway and impacted into concrete barriers that line the highway.  The vehicle flipped over the barriers and came to rest on its passenger side.  The driver, Jeffrey Lenhardt, was arrested on suspicion of DUII and taken to the Deschutes County Jail in Bend, Oregon.    The Deschutes County Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by the Oregon State Police and the Oregon Department

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On Saturday, April 20th, 2019 at approximately 8:10pm, Officers from the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety, responded to 1327 NE Evans Street for a reported stabbing.  Officers located a 17 year old victim with non-life threatening injuries.  GPDPS Fire/Rescue responded and provided medical attention to the victim. American Medical Response transported the victim to Three Rivers Medical Center where he was treated and released.   The investigation revealed the assault was related to an interaction the victim had with a female juvenile known to the victim . The four arrested males confronted the victim over this interaction at the Evans St. address.  The victim was assaulted by the four male juveniles.  During the assault, One of the juveniles stabbed the victim in the back with a box cutter.  The juveniles fled the scene, but were located hours later.  The listed male juveniles were located, interviewed and all four were lodged at the Joseph

Deputies Investigate Fatal Crash between a Motorcycle and Passenger Vehicle

Sheriff's Office On Wednesday, April 17, 2019, at 12:35 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a crash involving a motorcycle near the intersection of Northwest Zion Church Road and Northwest Milne Road.  Witnesses called 9-1-1 to report the crash and stated the motorcyclist was severely injured.  Shortly after  Tualatin Valley Fire and Rescue  arrived, the 66-year-old male rider of the motorcycle was pronounced deceased.   During the initial crash investigation, deputies learned a GMC Jimmy was traveling eastbound on Northwest Zion Church Road, and a motorcycle was following the GMC Jimmy.  The GMC Jimmy slowed down to make a left turn on Northwest Milne Road.  The motorcyclist apparently attempted to pass the GMC Jimmy on the right, subsequently clipping the right rear-end of the GMC Jimmy.  The GMC Jimmy stayed on the scene of the crash and is cooperating with the investigation  The circumstances of the collision continue to be

Vehicle Pursuit East of Bend; Driver Arrested

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office The Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office utilized our Community Action Target Team (CATT) this afternoon in the area of Powell Butte Highway and Neff Road, focusing on speeding vehicles.  Residents in the area had contacted the Sheriff’s Office about the speed of vehicles in the posted 35MPH zone approaching the roundabout at this intersection. At approximately 3:00pm, a CATT deputy observed a silver 2002 Honda Accord enter the 35 MPH zone at 76 MPH, determined by radar.  The deputy attempted to stop the Honda for the speed violation, but the driver fled.  The deputy initiated a pursuit of the Honda, which traveled eastbound on Alfalfa Market Road to Elk Lane, where the driver the turned around and drove back towards Bend.  Additional deputies and a Bend Police Officer responded to assist and two sets of spike strips were set up on Alfalfa Market Road ahead of the pursuit.  The driver of the Honda then turned onto a dirt road near the intersection

The crash occurred at approximately 3:00 PM. Operators of both involved vehicles have been transported to area hospital with injuries. Investigation is continuing.

Missing Person Investigation

Bend Police Dept. On April 15, 2019 at 3:59 PM, Michael Shameklis was reported as a missing person to the Bend Police Department by a friend.  Shameklis had been visiting the Bend area while housesitting for his friend.  The friend last spoke with Shameklis on April 11, 2019.   The Bend Police Department opened an investigation at that time and has been pursuing leads provided by friends and family.   At the time of this release, the investigation has not determined Michael Shameklis’ whereabouts.  Shameklis may have been traveling from Bend, Oregon to Lake Oswego,Oregon or Crescent City, California.   Bend Police Officers are requesting anyone with information related to Shameklis’ whereabouts call (541) 693-6911. Bryon Lloyd Akins Sentenced to 50 Years in Prison in Sex Abuse Case

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On April 5, 2019, a Washington County jury found Bryon Lloyd Akins guilty of 14 counts of sexual abuse. He was sentenced to 50 years in prison by Judge Eric Butterfield. Senior Deputy District Attorney Megan Johnson prosecuted the case against Akins. Washington County Sheriff’s Detective Robert Rookhuyzen began investigating Akins in August of 2018 after the sheriff’s office received a report of possible abuse involving two young girls known to Akins. With assistance from experts at CARES Northwest, investigators determined the abuse happened multiple times over the span of at least two years. Akins denied the allegations of abuse but was found guilty after a three-day jury trial. We would like to acknowledge the work of the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, including Detective Rookhuyzen, on this case. We would also like to thank CARES Northwest for their assistance. Firefighters Respond to Second-Story Window Fall Involving 4-year-old Boy in Bethany

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue Just before 5 p.m. today, firefighters were dispatched to a neighborhood in the Bethany area on a report of a 4-year-old boy that had fallen from the second-story window of a duplex.   Firefighters arrived on scene within minutes to find the boy had landed on a concrete patio. Life Flight, who was already on standby, was activated and landed in a field near Springville Elementary School. The boy was transported from the home to the school by MetroWest and then loaded up in the Life Flight helicopter. He was then transported to a Portland area hospital for further evaluation and treatment. The extent and seriousness of his injuries is unknown at this time.  Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue was assisted on scene by Life Flight, Metro West Ambulance, and Washington County Sheriff’s Office.  According to Safe Kids Worldwide, unintentional falls are the number one cause of non-fatal injury for children, and 38 percent of fall-related injuries

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On 4-13-2019, at approximately 0909 hrs, the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety responded to Sears Roebuck parking lot located at 1533 NE F St., for a report of a female employee who had been backed over by a vehicle.  Investigation revealed a white male described as being in his mid 20's with curly hair wearing an unknown color of jeans and a black jacket ran out of the store with a case of Craftsman tools valued at $109.99 without paying for them.  The male suspect jumped into the driver's side of his pick-up truck followed by the assistant manager who was running after him.  The suspect quickly backed up, hitting the manager, and driving over her legs with the front end of his truck.  The suspect sped out of the parking lot and was able to flee the area prior to police arrival.  Additionally, there was a white female adult with dirty blond hair seated in the passenger seat.  On Tuesday, April 16th, 2019 Sheriff's Deputies pa

Stabbing Suspect Arrested

Medford Police Dept. On 04/14/19, Officer were dispatched to Providence Medical Center for a stabbing victim being treated at that location.  It was determined that the location of the stabbing was Crater Lake Ave and Stevens and the victim had been stabbed in the neck by a male that was unknown to him.  The victim had been walking with his headphones on when the suspect approached him from behind and without warning attacked him. The suspect was located in the area of Grace Christian School and the suspect fled from the police.  The suspect later discarded the knife and was taken into custody on the Medford Center property.  MPD Detectives responded to the scene and took over the investigation. The suspect was identified as Jeffrey Allen Yost, 30 years old. He was lodged on Attempted Murder and Assault II. 

Sex Abuse Suspect Arrested in Colorado

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office CASTLE ROCK, Colo. – A man wanted for multiple sex crimes in Jackson County is in jail in Colorado.  Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives believe Isaac James Bergstrom, 21, may have more local victims who have yet to come forward. JCSO detectives began their investigation in December 2018.  Detectives received reports that Bergstrom had sexual contact with girls in their early teens from approximately 2015 to 2017.  According to detectives, Bergstrom met the victims through school, activities, and acquaintances, both during and after his time as a student at Phoenix High School.  Detectives say Bergstrom contacted the victims in person in the Phoenix and Medford areas, as well as through text and mobile applications.  Bergstrom was indicted by a Jackson County grand jury on Thursday, April 11, 2019, on charges involving four victims.  The indictment included charges of sodomy in the first degree, sodomy in the second degree, sex

Bandon-Coquille Highway now open

ODOT: SW Oregon BANDON – Oregon 42 South is now open to a single lane of traffic. The highway from Coquille had been closed five miles east of Bandon since Wednesday night, April 10, when a blocked culvert washed out 50 feet of pavement. Over the weekend, ODOT and Hayes Construction installed a 4-foot diameter culvert 25 feet below the road surface and placed 1,800 tons of rock in the hole. The new culvert is less likely to become blocked by storm debris than the previous 2-foot pipe. It will also allow better fish passage. Flaggers will provide traffic control until the 50-foot section of road is paved later this week. Motorists should expect brief delays through the work zone. King City Man Sentenced to 20 Years in Prison in Child Sex Abuse Case

Washington Co. District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On April 12, 2019, Victor Roberto Saravia pleaded guilty to four counts of First-Degree Sex Abuse and was sentenced to 20 years in prison by Washington County Judge Ted Sims. Deputy District Attorney Allison Brown prosecuted the case against Saravia. King City Police first began investigating Saravia in February of 2018 after a young boy made a disclosure of abuse to his family. A family member called police to report the abuse. The boy was taken to CARES Northwest where he told investigators about two instances of sexual abuse involving Saravia, who was known to his family. According to reports from the child, the abuse began in 2017 and continued into 2018. King City Police Lieutenant Brian Sigler began investigating once the abuse was reported. In conjunction with our partners at CARES Northwest and the Oregon Department of Human Services, Lt. Sigler found the allegations to be credible and Saravia was arreste

SAR RECOVERS BODY OF MISSING MT. ANGEL MAN

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office TOKETEE, Ore.  - The body of 30 year-old Jeffery A. Vance was located by Search and Rescue on Sunday, April 14, 2019. Searchers had returned to the Clear Water area on Sunday, where Vance went missing at the beginning of February, to continue efforts to locate him. Search efforts had previously been hindered by heavy snowfall. At approximately 11:50 am, Vance was located by a Douglas County Search and Rescue volunteer.  The Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office is conducting a death investigation. There are no immediate indications of foul play. Next of kin has been notified. 

MISSING WINSTON WOMAN FOUND DECEASED

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office SUTHERLIN, Ore.  - On Thursday, April 11, 2019, at 1:10 pm, Douglas County Emergency Communications received a report from Weyerhaeuser that an employee located a van with a deceased female inside on their property out Nonpareil Road.  Deputies responded and were shown to the area where the van was located. Deputies identified the van and female inside to be that of Geraldine Donna Galer of Winston. Galer was 77 at the time she went missing in December of 2018.  The Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office is conducting a death investigation. At this time, there are no indications of foul play.  Next of kin has been notified. 

Water Rescue - Stewart Park - 4-14-19

Roseburg Fire Department At 7:54 p.m. on April 14, 2019, Roseburg Fire Department personnel responded to a reported water rescue in the river at Stewart Park.  Three witnesses reported seeing a female who was screaming while in the river.  The witnesses reported seeing the female in the water between the green bridge and the Stewart Park pavilion. They saw the female continue to float through the rapids and under the Stewart Park Bridge. Firefighters arrived on scene at Stewart Park and worked collaboratively with several emergency agencies to ensure a rapid search and rescue of the female patient.  A cataraft was launched and placed in the river at Stewart Park by Douglas County Fire District #2 Water Rescue personnel.  At 8:48 p.m. the female patient was rescued on the left side of the river near Harvard and Old Melrose Road by three Roseburg Fire Department firefighters.  Firefighters used rope bags to get the patient to shore. Officer Involved Shooting Update

Milwaukie Police Dept. The suspect taken into custody in last night’s officer involved shooting in Milwaukie, has been identified to be 30-year-old Douglas Joseph Teter. Douglas Teter was lodged at the Clackamas County Jail and is facing charges of Assault I and Attempted Aggravated Murder (No Bail). Douglas Teter also had six outstanding warrants for his arrest for; Criminal Mischief II (X2), Interfering with a Peace Officer (X2), DUII and Disorderly Conduct II. The officer involved was released from the hospital earlier this morning. He is now home with family, recovering from multiple gunshot wounds to his leg. The officer’s name is not being released at this time due to the ongoing investigation.   No further information is available at this time.

Officer Involved Shooting

Milwaukie Police Dept. On 4/13/2019 at approximately 11:20 pm, a Milwaukie Police Officer attempted to contact a subject near SE Monroe Street and SE 42nd Avenue in Milwaukie. The subject matched the description of a male involved in a previous call, where the threat of a gun was reported.  The contact led to a taser deployment near SE 42nd Avenue between SE Jackson Street and SE Harrison Street. The taser deployment was not effective. Moments later, the officer and male subject exchanged gunfire near SE Harrison Street and SE 42nd Avenue.  The officer was shot in the exchange and the suspect ran from the shooting north to SE Llewellyn Street and hid under a truck and camper. Officers located the subject which ultimately led to another taser deployment and custody.  The injured Milwaukie officer was transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.  The Clackamas County Major Crimes Team has been notified and is taking lead on the investigation.  We are not relea

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore. – Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 28-year-old man. Twedros Gemeda was last seen yesterday around 11:00 a.m. leaving his Gresham residence to drive to work in Salem. Gemeda has black hair, brown eyes, is approximately 5-feet-5-inches tall and 130 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and black Nike’s. Gemeda was driving a silver 2007 Nissan Sentra with Oregon license plate 985DDH. Anyone who knows of Gemeda’s whereabouts is asked to call Gresham Police.

Marion County Fire District#1 responds to fatal accident

Marion Co. Fire Dist. #1 On April 13th at 2:53 am witnesses reported a serious motor vehicle crash on Hazelgreen Road NE near 80th Avenue NE.  When deputies and personnel from Marion County Fire District #1 arrived on scene, they tragically discovered both occupants of the lone involved vehicle were deceased. Deputies have determined the involved vehicle, a delivery truck, was traveling west on Hazelgreen Road NE prior to the crash.  The driver failed to negotiate a curve in the roadway, resulting in the vehicle leaving the roadway and striking a utility pole.  Investigators have not yet determined if speed was a factor in the crash.  No other vehicles are believed to have been involved. Both occupants of the delivery truck died at the scene.  The Sheriff’s Office will not be releasing information about the deceased individuals until appropriate notifications have been made.  PGE responded to the scene to repair the damaged utility pole, all impacted roadways are now open.
