Man Dies in Eagle Point Officer Involved Shooting

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office  - 09/21/18  Eagle Point, Oregon – Matthew Thayer Graves – DOB 5/23/85, of Eagle Point died after a physical confrontation with Eagle Point Police Officers. On Wednesday, September 19, 2018 at 8:42 p.m., an Eagle Point Police Officer contacted Graves near the Carl’s Jr. Restaurant in Eagle Point. The contact continued into the restroom of the restaurant where a struggle ensued.  A second Officer arrived to assist with taking Graves into custody.  The Officers continued to struggle with Graves and shots were fired.  Graves was pronounced dead at the scene. One of the officers involved sustained minor injuries. Detectives with the Major Assault and Death Investigative Unit, which was comprised of the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office, the Oregon State Police, the Medford Police Department, the Ashland Police Department, and the Jackson County District Attorney’s Office, responded to the scene and assumed the investigation. Bend Man Arrested During Road Rage Incident After Pointing a Gun

Sheriff's Office  - 09/21/18 Bend, OR – A Bend man was arrested for Unlawful Use of a Weapon, Pointing a Firearm at Another, Recklessly Endangering and Reckless Driving after a “road rage” incident on Highway 20 W in the Tumalo area of Bend. On September 20, 2018 at 4:30PM, Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Deputies responded to 911 reports of a white Chevrolet Suburban driving eastbound on Highway 20 west at Dayton Rd. Deschutes 911 was told by victims that the driver, Hawkens Mclean Hazelton, age 22 of Bend, Oregon, was pointing a gun at other drivers. The investigation revealed that Hazelton was driving recklessly on Highway 20 W and began challenging other drivers to fight with hand gestures, physical threats and dangerous driving, all to intimidate the other drivers. Woman Found Dead Inside Duplex During Fire Near Tigard

Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue  - 09/20/18  At 6:45 a.m. this morning, multiple callers to 9-1-1 reported dark smoke and flames coming from one side of a duplex located in the 9000 block of SW 91st Avenue in unincorporated Washington County close to Tigard.  Firefighters responding to the scene could see a plume of smoke. The first crew from TVF&R’s Progress fire station arrived within four minutes of being dispatched and quickly began to douse flames while searching for a female occupant who was known to be inside. Sadly, when they found her, she was already dead. Due to privacy rules, we are unable to release the fire victim’s name.  The 69-year-old woman who lost her life resided in the home with her brother. Though he was able to escape the home, he was treated for smoke inhalation and transported by Metro West Ambulance to an area hospital. UPDATE ---- OSP investigating fatal vehicle crash on Hwy 99W near Lafayette - Yamhill County

Oregon State Police  - 09/19/18 Investigation revealed  that a red 1999 Mercury Sable, operated by a 17 year old female, was southbound on HWY 99W behind a box truck. A John Deere tractor, operated by Christopher Current, age 49, of McMinnville, was on Mineral Springs Rd attempting to turn left to go northbound on HWY 99W.  After the box truck made a right turn on to Mineral Springs Rd, the tractor entered the intersection colliding with front passenger side of the Mercury Sable. The front passenger of the Mercury Sable, a 17 year old male, sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The third occupant of the Mercury Sable, a 16 year old male, along with the driver, were transported to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries. OSP was assisted by McMinnville Police Department,  McMinnville Fire Department and ODOT.

Woman Arrested for Mail Theft, Forgery

Sheriff's Office  - 09/19/18  S WHITE CITY, Ore. – An arrest in White City caps off a three-month investigation into theft and fraud.  Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) detectives say a woman stole mail from at least 100 people and used personal and financial information to steal identities and make fake checks.   On Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 9:59 a.m., Amanda Marie Sims, 36, was arrested in White City.  She was lodged in jail on 100 counts of mail theft, six counts of identity theft, six counts of forgery, and one count of criminal possession of a forgery device.  Bail at lodging was $847,500. The case began on June 22 when a woman attempted to cash a forged check at a White City convenience store.  Deputies traced the check back to Sims.  On July 1, deputies served a search warrant at Sims’ residence.  They found stolen mail and equipment used to make or alter checks.  JCSO detectives continued the investigation, which included obtaining bank recor

Man Arrested After Returning to Haul Away Second Half of Dumped Mobile Home

Sheriff's Office  - 09/19/18  Deputies serving the City of Cornelius have continued to investigate the circumstances surrounding the dumping of half a dilapidated mobile home in the parking lot of Echo Shaw Elementary School on Saturday. Deputies received dozens of tips from the public regarding a Craigslist advertisement posted on September 13 from an individual in Yamhill offering to pay $1,000 to have a mobile home hauled away from his property. Deputies also received information about numerous public sightings of a white truck towing the mobile home northbound on Highway 47 between Yamhill and Cornelius. When deputies contacted the seller, they learned a man had responded to the ad and hauled away half of the mobile home. That half was later found dumped at the school. He told the seller he would return and haul away the second half at a later time. He also told the seller he planned to convert the mobile home into small housing units in Portland. On Monday

Oregon State Police  - 09/18/18  Oregon State Police and emergency personnel are on scene of a motor vehicle crash involving a tractor on Hwy 99W near mile post 33 - approximately 1 mile south of Lafayette. There is one confirmed fatality. ODOT has set up a detour in the area but delays and intermittent closures should be expected. This crash occurred on 9/18/18 at approximately 8:15 AM.  

FBI and Cottage Grove Police Department Searching for Attempted Bank Robbery Suspect

FBI - Oregon  - 09/19/18 The FBI and Cottage Grove Police Department are asking for the public's help identifying a man who attempted to rob a Wells Fargo Bank branch on Monday, September 17th. This branch is located inside the Safeway store at 1500 E. Main Street, Cottage Grove. At approximately 4:40 pm, the man approached the teller desk and demanded cash. Once the bank employees triggered the alarm, the man got spooked and left before police arrived. Portland Police Bureau  - 09/19/18  On Tuesday, September 18, 2018, at 6:24 p.m., North Precinct officers arrested 25-year-old Luke J. Andrade at Overlook Park, located at 3515 North Interstate Avenue. Andrade was arrested in connection with the theft of a kitten. This investigation began on Tuesday, September 17, 2018, at 11:00 a.m., when a North Precinct officer responded to Pixie Project, located at 510 Northeast Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard, on the report that a man had entered the location and stole a kitten. Based on information gathered during the investigation, officers learned the suspect entered the Pixie Project on Monday, September 16, 2018, at 6:24 p.m., while the non-profit was closed but volunteers were tending to cats and kittens. The suspect entered through an un-locked door and grabbed a kitten and left the location. Medford Police Dept.  - 09/17/18  UPDATE On September 15, 2018 Medford Police investigators received information that homicide suspect, Jesse Allen, was inside a residence in the 700 block of Linn Rd, Eagle Point. The Medford Police SWAT Team surrounded the residence and Allen surrendered without incident. He was interviewed by investigators and subsequently lodged at the Jackson County Jail. He has been charged with Murder. The weapon believed to have been used in the homicide has been recovered.  The victim has been identified as 21 year old, KayLynn Klosterman. Fatal Vehicle crash on Hwy 18 near McMinnville - Yamhill County

Oregon State Police  - 09/16/18  On September 15, 2018 at approximately 1:10pm Oregon State Police, McMinnville PD, Yamhill Co. S.O., Amity PD, and ODOT responded to a two vehicle head on collision on HWY 18 near Milepost 48. Preliminary investigation revealed that a silver 2001 Pontiac Grand Am driven by Joseph Hawkins (19) of Salem, with no passengers, was traveling eastbound when he crossed into the westbound lanes hitting a 2005 Subaru Legacy head on. Hawkins sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Subaru, Roger Verdier (70) of Vancouver, WA. was transported to Willamette Valley Medical Center with serious injuries.  His two passengers, Mary Verdier (59) of Vancouver,WA. and Susan Heffel (60) of McMinnville, both sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene. Oregon State Police  - 09/15/18  On September 13, 2018, Oregon State Police Detectives arrested Blake V. Northway, age 55 of Medford, on multiple counts of Sodomy. Northway is a Deportation Officer with the U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) assigned to the Medford office. The arrest is a result of a joint investigation between the Oregon State Police and ICE - Office of Professional Responsibility.   “U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement hold its officers to the highest standards of professional conduct and does not tolerate those who violate the law, said ICE Public Affairs Officer Tanya Roman.  ICE will continue to cooperate until this case has been resolved. “ Northway has been relieved of all authority and will be placed on leave pending the results of the criminal investigation. Northway was lodged in the Jackson County Jail.   These charges are not related to Northway’s position with ICE. 

Arrest Made in Yesterday's Shooting

Gresham Police Dept  - 09/15/18  Gresham, Ore.— Gresham Police arrest suspect of a shooting that struck three homes and a business. Yesterday around 5:15 p.m., police responded to the report of shots heard in the area of NE 188th Ave. and NE Glisan St. Officers then located shell casings at the location. During the shooting, three occupied homes and a business were struck. Fortunately, no one was injured. Police say a black van or SUV with tinted windows and a broken rear or side window may be involved. At approximately 6:30 p.m., officers located a similar vehicle which immediately fled. After a vehicle pursuit, the occupants ran on foot. Following a short foot pursuit, officers were able to take 18-year-old Ny’Shaun Edwards and 18-year-old Niko Thomas into custody. After further investigation, Edwards was charged with attempted murder, unlawful use of a weapon, attempt elude in a vehicle, attempt elude on foot, reckless driving, and two counts of hit and run. Medford Police Dept.  - 09/15/18 Medford Police Case #: 18-18718 On September 14, 2018 at 2:30pm, Medford Police officers responded to the 3000 Block of Arrowhead Drive, after a report of several gunshots being heard from inside of an apartment and a male subject observed running from the location. Officers entered the residence and located an adult female deceased inside. The victim sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Medford Police detectives are investigating this incident as a Homicide and have identified 20 year old, Jesse Allen, as the suspect. He has not yet been located. The motive and events leading up to the shooting remain under investigation. Allen is described as a white male adult, 5’8” tall and 150 lbs. He has blonde hair and blue eyes but may have a shaved head. He has several tattoos on both arms and very distinct tattoos on his neck that display the letters “TVS” in block lettering. Crash Claims the Lives of Two Douglas County Men

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office  - 09/15/18  GLIDE, Ore. -  Two men lost their lives Friday night in a serious crash on Little River Road.  Emergency dispatchers received multiple 9-1-1 calls reporting a crash in the 2300-block of Little River Road at about 9:00 pm.  Deputies along with fire and EMS personnel responded to find a 2004 Mazda M3 sedan which had significant damage and struck a tree.  An investigation revealed the vehicle was being operated by 20 year-old Cody James Scheler of Glide. Both Scheler and his 21 year-old passenger, Isaac Alan Hartwick of Roseburg, were pronounced deceased at the scene. Deputies are continuing their investigation and believe speed is a contributing factor. Motorcycle crash takes life of Terrebonne resident - Deschutes County

Oregon State Police  - 09/14/18  On Friday September 14, 2018 at about 4:30 pm, Oregon State Police along with the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office responded to the scene of a two vehicle crash on Highway 97 near Odem Avenue, south of Terrebonne.  The investigation revealed that a black 2008 Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by 68 year old Terrebonne resident Robert Constant, had been traveling northbound when traffic congestion forced vehicles in front of him to slow.  Constant lost control of the motorcycle and laid it down while attempting to stop.  The motorcycle slid and crashed into a green 1995 Geo Metro, operated by 51 year old Culver resident Traci Sauls, who sustained minor injury. Gresham Police Dept  - 09/14/18 Gresham, Ore. – Gresham Police is asking for the public’s assistance in locating a missing 39-year-old man last seen on Sept. 11. Richard Perez left his Gresham residence to go to the store and left behind his wallet and cell phone. His family is worried about his well-being. Perez has a shaved head, brown eyes, is approximately 5-feet-11-inches tall and 185 pounds. He drives a spray painted dark blue 1982 Datsun Pickup. Body of California Man Recovered at Toketee Falls

Sheriff's Office  - 09/14/18  IDLEYLD PARK, Ore. -  The body of 23 year-old Brian Lewinstein of Berkeley, California was recovered from Toketee Falls late Thursday night.  Lewinstein fell into the first pool at Toketee Falls after crossing a safety fence to take a photograph from above the falls on Sunday, August 12, 2018. A large scale search and rescue mission was performed by members of Douglas County Search and Rescue in the days and weeks following the initial response.  On Thursday, September 13, 2018, at about 5:45 pm, the Douglas County Sheriff's Office received a call reporting two hikers observed Lewinstein's body in the second pool of the falls. Deputies along with Search and Rescue personnel immediately responded to perform a recovery mission, which included steep angle rappelling. Classroom "Grandpa" Sentenced for Sex Abuse

Sheriff's Office  - 09/14/18 MEDFORD, Ore. – A former classroom volunteer arrested for sexually abusing two kindergarten students is headed to prison.  Jerry Duane Lodge, 72, pleaded guilty to two counts of first degree sexual abuse in Jackson County Circuit Court on Thursday, September 13, 2018. As part of a negotiated settlement, Lodge received a sentence of 75 months in prison, without the possibility of early release due to Measure 11 sentencing guidelines.  He has been lodged in the Jackson County Jail since his arrest on December 9, 2017. Jackson County Sheriff’s Office detectives arrested Lodge after investigating a report that Lodge sexually abused a 5-year-old girl while volunteering at Lower Table Rock Elementary School in White City.  Detectives later learned of a second victim in the class.  A grand jury indicted Lodge on charges related to the abuse of both girls.  During an interview with detectives, Lodge confirmed both girls’ claims that he touched

Clackamas Man Accused of Possessing and Transporting Child Pornography

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon  - 09/12/18  PORTLAND, Ore. – Nicholas James Stacy, 24, of Clackamas, Oregon, made an initial appearance today in federal court before U.S. Magistrate Judge Stacie F. Beckerman. He was ordered detained pending trial. The court unsealed a criminal complaint alleging Stacy possessed in excess of 9,000 videos and 20,000 images depicting child pornography on his iPhone and uploaded at least 94 files containing child pornography to his Gmail account. Stacy’s online activities were first identified by Google and the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC). Stacy was arrested by the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office on September 11, 2018 and the investigation is being conducted jointly with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security Homeland Security Investigations (HSI). Driver arrested for DUII after crashing into the McKenzie River - Lane County

Oregon State Police  - 09/12/18 On Tuesday September 11, 2018 at approximately 11:42 PM, OSP Troopers responded to a report of a single vehicle rollover crash into the McKenzie River on Highway 126E near milepost 32. Preliminary investigation revealed that a white 2006 Mazda SUV, operated by Shyla Marie HOLLOWAY (28), left the roadway for unknown reasons and rolled down a 75 foot embankment before coming to rest in the McKenzie River.  HOLLOWAY suffered non-life threatening injuries as a result of the crash. HOLLOWAY was arrested for DUII.  Her blood alcohol content (BAC) was 0.16, twice the legal limit,  several hours after the crash. The vehicle remained in the river overnight. Highway 126E near milepost 32.4 will face possible closures today, September 12, 2018,  when the vehicle is removed from the river.

3 vehicle injury crash on Hwy 101 near Coos Bay - Coos County

Oregon State Police  - 09/12/18 On September 11, 2018 at approximately 4:45 PM. Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a three vehicle injury crash on Hwy 101 near Colina Lane. Investigation revealed that a DIRECT TV service van, operated by Jeris DOYLE (41) from Coos Bay, was stationary in the northbound inside lane waiting for traffic to clear to turn left onto Colina Lane.  A 1992 GMC PU, operated by Zachary STORY (20) from Coos Bay, was also northbound when it struck the back of the DIRECT TV service van.   The GMC PU then lost control and hit a 1995 Jeep Cherokee, operated by Robert STORIE (35) from North Bend. DOYLE and STORIE were transported to Bay Area Hospital with what were described as non-life threatening injuries. STORY was transported to Bay Area Hospital and then transported by air ambulance to OHSU in Portland with serious injuries.

Winston Man Arrested Following Attempt to Elude

Sheriff's Office  - 09/12/18  AZALEA, Ore.  - On September 12, 2018 at about 11:46 AM, an Oregon State Police Trooper attempted to stop a reckless driver that was in a full size Dodge Pickup on Interstate 5 in the Azalea area.  The driver of the Dodge Pickup, later identified as 24 year-old Garrett Lee Nielsen of Winston, eluded the Trooper and ultimately ended up crashing  into the Trooper’s stopped Patrol vehicle in the 1100 Block of Autumn Road in Azalea.    Nielsen fled on foot and made it to another residence in the 1100 Block of Autumn Road where he stole a Toyota Tundra Pickup and attempted to flee the area.  Nielsen drove by several law enforcement officers from multiple agencies in his attempt to flee the area and crashed the second vehicle a short time later. Sexual Assault Suspect Arrested Monday Afternoon -- Attacked Victim in Home

Portland Police Bureau  - 09/11/18  On Monday, September 10, 2018, at 2:55 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a burglary at an apartment in the 16000 block of Southeast Stark Street. Officers arrived at the location and learned the suspect was inside the apartment with one of the residents. Officers heard the female resident call for help from inside the location. They immediately entered the residence and took the suspect into custody without incident and ensured the adult female victim was safe. Based on preliminary information, investigators believe the suspect entered the apartment through an unlocked door. At the time the suspect entered the apartment there were two residents in the location. One of the residents of the apartment confronted the suspect and instructed him to leave, but he remained in the location. The resident fled the apartment and contacted a nearby community member, requesting to use a phone to contact 9-1-1, as well as help for the woman

Fire Captain Arraigned on Sexual Abuse Charge

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office  - 09/11/18  On July 30, 2018, Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a complaint of sexual abuse. Deputies learned that the alleged conduct occurred in May 2018 at the Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue (TVF&R) training facility near Sherwood. The victim reported that during a training exercise, she was inappropriately touched in a sexual way by a training proctor. The following day, detectives from the Violent Crimes Unit were assigned to investigate. The investigation revealed that an impartial witness observed the reported conduct.  At the conclusion of the investigation on August 15, 2018, detectives cited Scott M. Taube, 52, of Vancouver, for sexual abuse in the third degree. Mr. Taube previously worked as a contract employee for Washington County and was involved in training new emergency medical technicians at the TVF&R facility. He was not a TVF&R employee. Cause of Death Determined in Case of Missing Hiker

Sheriff's Office  - 09/11/18 The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office recovered the body of Diana Bober, 55, who had been reported as missing on August 29, 2018.  Ms. Bober’s body was found off of the Hunchback Trail in the Mt. Hood National Forest in Welches, Oregon on Sept.10. According to the Medical Examiner’s Office, Ms. Bober’s injuries are consistent with a suspected cougar attack. Positive identification of the responsible genus of animal will be determined using DNA samples that have been flown by the Oregon State Police to the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Forensics Laboratory in Ashland. The Oregon Dept. of Fish and Wildlife is participating in the investigation.  Participating agencies in the search and rescue effort included Pacific Northwest Search and Rescue, Portland Mountain Rescue, Crag Rats, U.S Forest Service, Hood River County Sheriff’s Office, American Medical Response, Mountain Wave, and Hoodland Fire Dept. Man Arrested in Connection With Aloha Bank Robbery

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office  - 09/10/18  On Monday, September 10, 2018, at 2:22 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a robbery at the U.S. Bank, 19091 SW Tualatin Valley Highway, in the community of Aloha. Employees  called to report that a man had passed the teller a note demanding money. The suspect reportedly fled on foot and deputies began searching the area for him. During their search of the area, deputies located a suspicious man in a nearby shopping center. After further investigation, deputies confirmed this man was the suspect from the bank robbery. Deputies arrested Brandon Ross Linder, 32 years old, and lodged him at the Washington County Jail. In 2009, Mr. Linder was convicted of robbing a different U.S. Bank in Beaverton. The Sheriff’s Office is working closely with the Federal Bureau of Investigations (FBI), which is standard in bank robbery cases.

Medford Police Dept.  - 09/10/18  MPD Case #: 18-18338 On September 10, 2018 at 11:56am, Medford Police Officers and Detectives responded to the Wells Fargo Bank at 1320 East McAndrews, for a robbery that just occurred. Employees in the bank confirmed the male suspect entered the bank alone and demanded money. After obtaining and undisclosed amount of money, he fled on foot. Officers searched the area but were not able to locate him. Through video surveillance and witness statements, investigators were able to identify 21 year old, Scout Mountain, as the suspect. At approximately 2:40pm, a Medford Police officer observed Mountain walking in the 200 Block of N. Riverside. He was taken into custody without incident and subsequently lodged at the Jackson County Jail. There were several customers in the bank at the time of the incident and no one was injured. The crime scene was processed by the Medford Police Forensic Technician and evidence was collected at the scene

OR 230 MP 11 truck crash between Union Creek and Diamond Lake

ODOT: SW Oregon  - 09/10/18  Union Creek:  Oregon 230 MP 11 between Union Creek and Diamond Lake: Expect intermittent delays of up to 20 minutes today for recovery of a crashed semi at MP 11. The crash occurred about 11 p.m. last night. The cargo was reportedly smart electrical meters. Watch for flaggers and recovery crews.

K9 Nike Captures Wanted Suspect

Roseburg Police Dept.  - 09/10/18  On September 8th, 2018 a Douglas County Sheriff's Deputy attempted to contact Wayne Stowell near Interstate 5 at milepost #128.  When Stowell saw the Deputy, Stowell ran off into the bushes.  Officers knew Stowell had a felony warrant for his arrest, and he also has a history of resisting arrest.  K9 Nike was called to the area to conduct a search, and while searching, a perimeter unit saw Stowell running on the railroad tracks in the area.  K9 Nike tracked to the railroad tracks, went under a bridge and over a creek and then found Stowell hiding in some tall grass nearby.  K9 Nike barked at Stowell, and Stowell surrendered and was arrested without further incident.

Mother and Father swept out to sea near Depoe Bay

Oregon State Police  - 09/10/18 On September 9, 2018 at approximately 5:30 PM, Oregon State Police, Depoe Bay Fire and Rescue, and the United States Coast Guard responded to a report of two people who had been swept into the Pacific Ocean off Otter Crest Loop Near Depoe Bay. The two were located and transported to Samaritan Pacific Hospital, in Newport, where they were pronounced deceased. Investigators learned Miaochan Chen (age 49 from Lake Oswego-male) and Wenjun Zhu (age 41 from Lake Oswego-female) were visiting the Oregon Coast with their 10 year old daughter. The group were picnicking off Otter Crest Loop when Chen , Zhu, and their daughter took a trail down to rocks which overlooked the ocean. A wave washed over the rocks and swept Chen and Zhu into the ocean. Their daughter was unharmed. The United State Coast launched a helicopter from Newport and a 47 ft motor life boat from Depoe Bay. Beaverton Police Dept.  - 09/10/18  UPDATE: On September 10, 2018 at approximately 8:45 a.m. Beaverton Police officers learned 11-year-old Erik Derby had been found safe at a friend’s house. Beaverton Police Department would like to thank our community members who helped share this story via social media outlets, helped look for Erik, and our media partners. Beaverton Police are asking for the public’s help in locating a missing 11-year-old boy. Erik Derby was last seen at Fir Grove Elementary School, located at 6300 SW Wilson Ave., around 8:30 pm on Sunday, September 9th, 2018. Erik has brown hair and is 4 feet, 8 inches tall with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a blueish-grey sweatshirt. We’re asking anyone who has seen Erik, or has any information about his location, to call 503-629-0111.

The 142nd Fighter Wing to host, conduct dissimilar air combat training

Oregon Military Department  - 09/09/18  PORTLAND, Oregon  – The Oregon Air National Guard’s 142nd Fighter Wing will host EA-18G Growler aircraft from the VAQ-132 out of Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington, September 10-19, 2018, to conduct dissimilar air combat training (DACT).  The EA-18s will arrive at the Portland Air National Guard Base this week. DACT provides realistic combat scenarios for pilots to hone advanced aerial tactics that may be used against potential adversaries. The training is an essential and required component to ensure military readiness in support of the base’s national and state missions. Flights will depart from and land at the Portland International Airport. Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash (Silverton)

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office  - 09/09/18  UPDATE-  Today at 12:31 p.m., deputies with the Marion County Sheriff's Office were called to the intersection of 81st Ave NE and Silverton Road NE after a motorcycle and SUV collided. Deputies believe an SUV was traveling north and attempting to cross Silverton Road when it collided with a motorcycle traveling west on Silverton Road NE.   Sadly the motorcyclist was killed instantly, the driver of the SUV was not injured and is cooperating with investigators.  The road was closed for several hours while specialized investigators with the CRASH Team investigated.  Silverton Road NE has reopened and investigators are seeking any witnesses to the collision.  If you were a witness to the collision you are asked to call 503 588 5032.  The Sheriff's Office will not be releasing either drivers name until Monday.  There are no further details available at this time.       **************PREVIOUS RELEASE**************** The Marion Cou
