Marion County Fire District#1 Battles Hemp Dryer Fire

Marion Co. Fire Dist. #1 Firefighters from Marion County Fire District #1 responded to a fire in a Hemp drying facility in rural Marion County.  The fire was reported at 4:43 PM on Tuesday March 3rd in the area of Howell Prairie Rd and Sunnyview Rd NE.  Firefighters from Salem Fire Department, and Silverton Fire District assisted in the extinguishment of the fire with a total of more than forty (40) firefighters on command units, fire engines, medic units, water tenders and a ladder truck on scene to put out the fire.  It took crews nearly four (4) hours to get the fire under control due to the particularly difficult access to the fire located within heavy machinery inside the structure.  There were no reports of civilian injuries, but two Firefighters were taken to Salem Hospital with minor injuries and released that same evening.  Total loss is estimated at $750,000. The fire started in one of the Hemp dryer machines.

Roseburg Area Shop Destroyed by Fire

Douglas Co. Fire Dist. No.2 A small Roseburg area shop was destroyed by fire on Wednesday evening.  At 7:35 p.m., firefighters from Douglas County Fire District No. 2 responded to several reports of an unknown type building on fire near 337 Black Oak Drive.   Firefighters arrived to find a small shop fully involved with fire with several trees nearby also in fire.  Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the trees and worked to extinguish the shop fire.  No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation. Douglas County Fire District No. 2 responded to the incident with 11 firefighters including 3 engines, 1 water tender, and 1 command unit.  They were assisted by Lookingglass Fire District and Roseburg Fire Department.

Stranger accused of kidnapping, sexually abusing four year old girl

Multnomah Co. District Attorney's Office Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Rod Underhill announced the filing of a six-count Jessica’s Law indictment against 25-year-old Richy Kinu. Jessica’s Law went into effect in 2006 and requires a 25 year mandatory minimum sentence for adults convicted of raping, sodomizing or sexually penetrating a child younger than 12 years old, or when an adult is convicted of kidnapping a child under the age of 12 in furtherance of the commission of, or attempted commission, of one of those same sexual crimes listed above. Kinu is charged with three counts of kidnapping in the first degree, two counts of sexual abuse in the first degree and one count of kidnapping in the second degree. According to a probable cause affidavit, on August 12, 2019, just after midnight, Portland Police responded to the area of Southeast 92nd Avenue and Southeast Mt. Gresham Police Investigating Shooting in Neighborhood

Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore. - Gresham Police are investigating a shooting that occurred in the early evening hours of Monday evening. Around 5:40pm, several residents in the area of NE 189th/NE Hassalo called police to report the sounds of gunfire in the area. While police were enroute, another caller said a car had crashed into another car in that area and multiple people were fighting outside of the cars. Prior to police arriving, people ran off on foot in multiple directions. Police located a 21-year-old male victim with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound nearby who was taken by ambulance to a local trauma hospital for treatment. Detectives and crime scene resources were called to the scene to piece together what happened, and to see if the car crash is related to the shooting, and if so, how the two events are related. As of this writing, there have not been any arrests made, but police are interviewing multiple people as possible witnesses, or involved parties. I

Sex Offense Investigation leading to an arrest

Grants Pass Dept. of Public Safety On 03-02-2020, detectives with the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety conducted an investigation into a adult male luring a juvenile via a social media platform. During the investigation, it was determined Octavio Virrueta from Vancouver Washington  invited a juvenile to a local motel in Grants Pass for the purpose of having sexual contact. Virrueta also exchanged illicit photographs with the juvenile, which were sexual in nature. Detectives with the Grants Pass Department of Public Safety were able to locate and arrest Virrueta at a local motel on the above listed charges. Virrueta was lodged at the Josephine County Jail. Woman Arrested after Stabbing Boyfriend in the Neck

Sheriff's Office On Saturday, February 29, 2020, at 1:22 a.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a report of an injured man at the Chevron station at 17095 SW TV Highway in Aloha. Employees reported the man was bleeding from the head and neck. The male told deputies he had been stabbed by his girlfriend. A short time later, a woman reported that she and her boyfriend had been involved in an altercation at a residence in the 16100 block of SW Rosa Road in Aloha. She said her boyfriend stabbed her prior to leaving the home. Deputies quickly concluded these events were related and collected relevant evidence from the crime scene. After their investigation, deputies arrested 36-year-old Sabrina D. Peeler. Ms. Peeler was lodged in the Washington County Jail on the following charges: Attempted Murder Unlawful Use of a Weapon Assault I Bail has been set at $250,000. Hemlock Lake Rescue

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office GLIDE, Ore.  - On Thursday, February 27, 2020, at 8:30 pm, Douglas County dispatchers received a call from a woman who stated she was stuck near Hemlock Lake and had two flat tires. Before dispatchers could obtain further information, the call was lost.  Deputies, along with Search and Rescue, were dispatched to the generalized area. Oregon State Police Fish and Wildlife Division Troopers were also in the area and responded, along with an OSP Fish & Wildlife airplane. While searching the Hemlock Lake area, the airplane was able locate a dim light on the ground and relayed that information to SAR units.   At approximately 10:30 pm, SAR and OSP Troopers made contact with the missing subject who was identified as 23 year-old Heather Lynn Schillinger and a male companion. Fatal Crash on Hwy 126E - Lane County

Oregon State Police  On Thursday, February 27, 2020 at approximately 3:36 P.M. Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to  a two vehicle crash on Hwy 126E near milepost 13. Preliminary investigation revealed that a Harley Davidson motorcycle, operated by Kurt Rauch (65) of Springfield, was traveling eastbound on Hwy 126E and lost control while attempting to stop for traffic in front of him. Rauch left his lane of travel, crossed into the westbound lane, and collided with a Ford F350 PU operated by David Doerr (50) from Bend. Rauch sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Doerr was not injured in the crash. Hwy 126E was closed for three hours following the crash. OSP was assisted by ODOT, McKenzie Fire and Rescue, and Northwest Hazmat.

BODY FOUND IN WILLAMETTE RIVER; INVESTIGATORS ATTEMPTING TO IDENTIFY

Marion Co. Sheriff's Office On February 27th, 2020, at approximately 11:22 am a boater reported finding a partially decomposed body in the Willamette River near the Buena Vista Ferry.  Deputies from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene to investigate along with emergency personnel from the Jefferson Fire District.  Marine Patrol and Search and Rescue Deputies were able to coordinate the recovery of the deceased by boat.  At this time it is unknown how long the deceased, an unidentified male, has been at the location.  Investigators are working to attempt to determine the identity of the deceased; an autopsy is scheduled for 10:30 am on February 28th at the State Medical Examiner’s Office. Investigators are asking anyone who may have information about missing persons believed to have been in the area to contact Detective Bob Evarts at 503-588-8507.
