Terrebonne woman swerves to avoid deer, crashes into irrigation canal

Deputies from the Deschutes County Sheriffs Office and Redmond Fire Department personnel responded and located a black Chevy Trailblazer which was submerged in the canal up to its wheel wells, with De Latorre still inside. Redmond Fire personnel attached a cable to the Trailblazer to keep it from moving in the swiftly flowing canal. Redmond Fire Department personnel then used a ladder, placed in the driver’s window, to allow De Latorre to crawl across to the bank. *Update* Deputies Arrest Indecent Exposure Suspect

Sheriff's Office  - 05/29/18  Update 5/29/18: SHADY COVE, Ore. - Thanks to a tip from a citizen, Jackson County Sheriff's Office deputies were able to capture a suspect in a recent case of indecent exposure in Prospect.  On Friday, May 25, 2018, deputies arrested Lavon Lovis Thigpen, 38, of Gonzales, Louisiana. On Friday evening, a citizen recognized the suspect from photos previously provided to the media and disseminated through social media.  The citizen called JCSO to report seeing a man matching the suspect description at a Shady Cove business. Deputies responded and spoke to Lavon Thigpen, confirming he was the suspect seen on video exposing his genitals to an employee at the Cascade Gorge Store on May 20.  Deputies learned Thigpen has been staying in the Jackson County area a short time and has had no previous law enforcement contacts here. Thigpen was lodged in the Jackson County Jail on one charge of public indecency.  Bail was set at $5,000. Ori

Lebanon Police Dept.  - 05/29/18              On Sunday, May 27, 2018 at approximately 4:03 A.M., Lebanon Police officers arrested Lebanon resident Mark William Chevalier (DOB 11/15/77) for multiple sex crimes related to inappropriate contact with an underage female.  The alleged crimes took place at Chevalier’s residence inside the city limits of Lebanon. Chevalier was taken into custody at his residence without incident.             Chevalier was charged with two counts of Using Child in Display of Sexually Explicit Conduct, Possession of Material Depicting Sexually Explicit Conduct in the First Degree, three counts of Rape in the Third Degree, three counts of Sex Abuse in the Third Degree, and Sodomy in the Third Degree.  Chevalier was taken to the Lebanon jail, and then later transported to the Linn County jail.             The Lebanon Police Department has had multiple contacts with Chevalier dating back to 2006.  Many of Chevalier’s prior law enforcement contacts involve

Two Arrested After Eluding Officers

Beaverton Police Dept.  - 05/29/18  On May 29, 2018 Beaverton Police Officers arrested 20-year-old Hassan Sheikh and a 17-year-old minor female from Portland after they tried to elude officers in a vehicle. On the above date at 2:45 a.m. officers were called to the 5700 block of SW Alger Ave regarding suspicious people hanging out around a Hyundai Elantra. The people were seen leaving the area in a Toyota Prius prior to officers arriving. Officers learned the Hyundai was a stolen vehicle. At 3:38 a.m. officers were called to the 5600 block of SW Dover Ln regarding occupants in a Toyota Prius breaking into cars. Officers arrived and attempted to stop the Toyota. The driver, Mr. Sheikh, almost struck an officer as he eluded in the Toyota. The Toyota crashed near SW Oleson Rd/ Beaverton Hillsdale Highway. Newport Police Dept.  - 05/29/18 Update The investigation into the stabbing of a six year old boy by his mother, Nemoria Villagomez, continues.  Investigators learned that the six year old victim is in good condition and expected to be released from the hospital soon.  Villagomez' 14 month old son was seen by medical staff on May 26 and released to the custody of DHS.  No significant injuries were reported. Villagomez was arraigned in Lincoln County Circuit Court today for charges related to stabbing her six year old son. ### On May 26, 2018, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Newport Police Officers were dispatched to a disturbance at the Agate Height Apartments located on NE 60th St.  Initial information reported was that a six year old boy had ran to a neighbor’s apartment and told them his mother stabbed him.  It was reported that the juvenile had a visible stab wound and was covered in blood. Warm Springs Woman Sentenced to 13 Years in Federal Prison for Assault with Intent to Commit Murder

U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon  - 05/29/18  PORTLAND, Ore. – Rhyan Leigh Smith, 26, of Warm Springs, Oregon, was sentenced today to 13 years in federal prison for assault with intent to commit murder of two family members and using a firearm in furtherance of a crime of violence. “The defendant’s violent conduct towards family members is inexplicable and indefensible,” said Billy J. Williams, U.S. Attorney for the District of Oregon. “This kind of violence is an attack on the victims and the members of the Warm Springs community. Newport Police Dept.  - 05/29/18  On May 26, 2018 at approximately 2:57 a.m., an employee at a Newport area hotel was kidnapped at gunpoint by an unknown male. The victim was handcuffed and forced into the suspect’s car.  The suspect then drove to various locations around the Newport area.  After being held for over 1 ½ hours, the victim was released unharmed about one mile from where she was taken. The victim was able to flag down a Newport Officer and reported the incident.  Nearby surveillance cameras captured the suspect and suspect vehicle on video. The suspect is described as a white male adult, mid to late 20’s with brown hair. He was approximately 5’10” and had a thin build. He had no accent or distinguishing features. He was driving a light colored (possibly silver/gray) 4-door hatchback. One Dead After Crash in Unincorporated Molalla

Clackamas Co. Sheriff's Office  - 05/28/18  At 12:49 p.m. on Monday, May 28, 2018, the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office received multiple  911  calls about a traffic crash near the 12000 block of S Dart Rd. in unincorporated Molalla. Callers reported that a vehicle had left the roadway and rolled several times before coming to a rest. Callers informed dispatchers that the three occupants of the vehicle all appeared to be seriously injured. Over the next several minutes, multiple Sheriff's Office deputies arrived at the scene and -- with the help of the Molalla Police Department, and the Molalla Fire District -- triaged the patients. One of the passengers, a 20 year old female from Michigan, was pronounced deceased on-scene. The driver, an 18 year old male from Molalla, as well as the other passenger, a 21 year old male from Molalla, were both rushed to Portland-area hospitals due to their injuries. Schneider was lodged in the Multnomah County Jail on a charge of Assault in the First Degree. Detectives with the Detective Division's Assault Detail continue to investigate this assault. Suspect drives vehicle into the Clackamas River after a high speed chase

Sheriff's Office  - 05/28/18  Please reference CCSO Case # 18-015334 The Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempt to elude after a deputy tries to stop a vehicle for traffic violations in the city of Estacada.  Photos are attached. At approximately 10:10 pm on May 28, 2018, a Clackamas County Sheriff’s deputy observed a black Land Rover commit several traffic violations.  The deputy then checked the speed of the vehicle with his radar and watched as it accelerated to nearly 100 mph.  The vehicle was headed eastbound on Hwy 224 and was just entering the city of Estacada, OR. The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop but the driver would not stop.  The deputy gave chase and pursued the vehicle on Highway 224 east to mile post 33. The deputy lost sight of the vehicle near that location. Deputies checked the area and later discovered the suspect had driven straight off the road on a curve. Portland Police Bureau  - 05/27/18  On Sunday, May 27, 2018, at 5:39 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the report of a stabbing at DV8 Lounge, located at 5021 Southeast Powell Boulevard. As officers responded to the location, a caller to 9-1-1 reported a disturbance occurred between multiple people at the location as a customer was asked to leave. Officers arrived at the location and located two people with injuries. Emergency medical personnel responded to the scene and provided medical aid to the injured people. The person, witnesses identified as the customer, suffered what was believed to be serious but non-life-threatening injuries. The injured customer's injuries were possibly caused by a bladed instrument, such as a knife. The injured customer was transported to an area hospital by ambulance. Portland Police Bureau  - 05/27/18  The suspect arrested in connection with a robbery that occurred at the Shell Gas Station, located at 2450 Southeast 122nd Avenue, earlier today has been identified as 29-year-old Earnest L.J. Brown. Brown was lodged at the Multnomah County Jail on charges of Robbery in the First Degree, Robbery in the Second Degree and Theft in the Second Degree. Burn Pile Escapes Property Owner, Quick Stop Made By Firefighters

Dallas Fire & EMS  - 05/27/18  On Sunday afternoon SW Polk Fire District responded to an escaped burn pile at 2525 James Howe Rd, which is just outside of the Dallas city limits. The property owners were in the process of clearing off debris from a previous logging operation, when their slash burn got away from them. They promptly call 911. Approximately .27 acres were burned. 19 firefighters from SW Polk Fire District, Dallas Fire & EMS and ODF worked for approximately 2 1/2 hours to get the fire contained. The property owners also had heavy equipment at the location and helped with the  fireline. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported. SW Polk County residents are urged  to be conscientious of their surroundings and cautious of the dryer than normal conditions when burning. 

Paraglider crashes on Pine Mountain east of Bend

Mike Biondi Date/time: 05/27/2018 at 4:26 p.m. Location: East side of Pine Mountain Paraglider pilot: Michael Lee - 34 year old male - Reno, Nevada On 05/27/2018 at 4:26 p.m., Deschutes County 911 received a 911 call from Lee who reported being injured while making an emergency landing while piloting a paraglider.  Deputies from the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office, a USFS LEO and paramedics from the Bend Fire Department responded to the area and located Lee on the east side of Pine Mountain. Lee advised he launched from the west side of Pine Mountain but got caught in unpredictable winds, and landed on the east side of Pine Mountain, outside of the designated landing zone.  Lee was evaluated by Bend Fire Department paramedics and transported via ground ambulance to Saint Charles Medical Center - Bend for observation. The paraglider Lee was piloting was non-motorized and similar in shape to a parachute.

OfferUp Exchange Ends in Robbery

Tualatin Police Dept.  - 05/27/18  On May 27, 2018, at about 12:42 PM, Tualatin Police responded to a report of a robbery in the parking lot of the Tualatin Fred Meyer. Tualatin officers learned that the victims, identified as an adult male and a juvenile female, arranged a meeting with the two adult Caucasian male suspects they met on OfferUp, an online sales app.  The victims originally met the suspects at the Tualatin Verizon store.  They intended on purchasing cell phones the suspects had listed for sale through a contact the suspects claimed to have with Verizon.  The suspects asked the victims to bring a Visa gift card preloaded with $1200 to pay for the phones.  When they attempted to use the Visa card to make the purchase, it was declined. In an attempt to continue the purchase, the victims left their car at the Verizon store and rode with the suspects to the Fred Meyer store to withdraw cash from the Visa card, but were unsuccessful.  One of the suspects then drove all of

Deputies Need Public's Help in Animal Cruelty Investigation

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office  - 05/27/18  May 27, 2018 – Deputies need the public’s help as they investigate an animal cruelty case where a cat was intentionally killed and dismembered. On Sunday, May 28, 2018 at 12:32 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to the 2900 block of NW 178th Avenue in the community of Rock Creek on an animal abuse complaint. A citizen reported finding a decapitated and dismembered cat in his front yard. The investigation revealed that a domestic cat was intentionally killed and dismembered. Deputies were able to rule out another animal predator. The owner of the cat was identified and notified. There are no photos to release. At this time, there is no suspect information. Suspect Arrested, Two Guns Seized During Saturday Night Shooting Investigation - No Known Injuries

Portland Police Bureau  - 05/27/18  On Saturday, May 26, 2018, at 11:21 p.m., East Precinct officers responded to the area of Southeast 143rd Avenue and Southeast Division Street on the report that a suspect fired a gun into the air. As officers responded to the area, a caller to 9-1-1 reported the suspect had fired the gun into the air while inside a red 1998 Dodge Dakota truck. The caller informed the emergency call-taker that after the suspect fired the gun, the suspect drove the truck to the Rollin' Wheels Mobile Home Park, located at 14222 Southeast Division Street. The caller reported the suspect had parked and was remaining at the Rollin' Wheels Mobile Home Park. Officers arrived in the area and located the truck and suspect inside the truck. Arriving officers devised a plan to safely contact the reportedly armed suspect. Gresham Police Dept  - 05/27/18  Update-  Missing 10-year-old Joshua Frison has been located safe and is with his family. Thanks to all that assisted in getting the word out.  Gresham, Ore. – Police are looking for a missing 10-year-old boy who was last seen going to a friend’s house in Gresham last night near SE 182nd Ave. and SE Main St. Joshua Frison is described as a black male with black hair and brown eyes. He is approximately 4-feet-8-inches tall and weighs 85 pounds. He was last seen wearing a black and red striped shirt and gray pants. Anyone who has information about Frison’s whereabouts is encouraged to call 911.

Rescue attempts being made to rescue a climber on Mt. Hood

Clackamas Co. Sheriff's Office  - 05/26/18  Update: 5-26-18 8:40pm At approximately 11:10 am on May 26, 2018, a team of volunteer rescue climbers with Portland Mountain Rescue made contact with the injured climber near Hogsback Ridge. Rescuers verified that the climber was in serious but stable condition. At approximately 2:35pm, a Medic Air Evacuation Unit with the Oregon Army National Guard responded to the scene in an effort to transport the patient to a medical facility. Due to winds varying between 30 and 50 knots, the helicopter was unable to reach the patient. At approximately 4:10pm, the helicopter returned to the mountain, still battling extremely dangerous winds, and was able to drop of a National Guard Medic on the mountain to tend to the patient. The helicopter was forced to return to the Portland-area to refuel, but once again returned at approximately 6:10pm to once again try and evacuate the patient. Human Remains located east of Bend

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office  - 05/26/18  On May 26, 2018, at about 07:49 hours, Deschutes County 911 received a call from a hiker who reported finding what he believed to be a human body wrapped up in a tarp while hiking yesterday afternoon about 21 miles east of Bend.  A sheriff's office sergeant responded to the area and confirmed the contents of the tarp were human remains.  Detectives from the Deschutes County Sheriff's Office and Bend Police Department responded and began a joint investigation with the assistance of the Deschutes County Medical Examiner, Oregon State Medical Examiner's Office, Oregon State Police Forensic Laboratory and Deschutes County District Attorney's Office. During the investigation, a drone, piloted by a Deschutes County Sheriff's Office Search and Rescue (SAR) volunteer was used to help document the scene.  Based on the investigation, it is believed the remains are likely that of Sara Gomez but investigators are awaiting confi

Rescue attempts being made to rescue a climber on Mt. Hood

Clackamas Co. Sheriff's Office  - 05/26/18  The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office is currently coordinating rescue efforts to rescue a climber on Mt. Hood who has fallen near the Hogsback area. The patients identity and extent of injuries are unknown at this time as rescue efforts continue. At about 10:07 a.m. the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office received a report that an unknown person had fallen and was injured. The area called the Hot Rocks and Hogsback area are common places climbers traverse to summit the mountain. The area can be very trecherous which makes it difficult for rescue attempts and we are being told there are high winds which are hapmering rescue efforts. Tualatin Valley Fire & Rescue  - 05/26/18  (UPDATED: 5/26/18 1pm): TVF&R Firefighters remained on scene of the Minter Bridge Rd scrap wood fire through the night and early part of today. The fire was contained to the scrap piles previously reported on. The wood piles have begun to be slowly torn apart to allow hot spots to be exposed and extinguished if possible. Firefighters will be transitioning fire watch to the ownership company today who will continue to monitor the area throughout the weekend. These wood piles still contain hidden wood and remain hot. As crews work to dismantle the areas, neighbors should expect to see smoke at times through the weekend, but should not be to the degree we saw during the fire last night. Investigators scoured the areas this morning, but were unable to find any outside cause to the fire. However, they are confident it began in the ‘hog fuel’ pile, also known as wood chips and bark.
