GRESHAM POLICE INVESTIGATING HOMICIDE WITH UNIDENTIFIED VICTIM

  Gresham Police Dept Gresham, Ore.— On March 15, 2021, Gresham Police received a call about a person who was down on the ground and appeared to be deceased in a wooded area near SE Hogan Road and the Springwater Trail. Police and medics arrived and determined that the victim was deceased and had likely been there for a day or two. The victim, described as a white male with shaggy brown hair and beard, had no identification on him. He is around 5-feet-6-inches tall and weighs approximately 160 pounds, and is likely in his 30’s. He has several distinctive tattoos, some of which are included in this release. PEDESTRIAN STRUCK BY VEHICLE ON SILVERTON ROAD; DEPUTIES INVESTIGATING

Sheriff's Office Correction:  The original release provided conflicting information with regards to the pedestrians medical status.  Tragically after being hospitalized since March 15th, they died as a result of their injuries earlier today, March 17th. On Monday, March 15th, 2021, at 2:13 p.m., deputies responded to Silverton Road NE at Brown Road NE where a pedestrian was reported to have been struck by a vehicle.  As first responders arrived on scene, the 50 year-old pedestrian was found in the roadway with serious injuries.  Medics from the Marion County Fire District transported the pedestrian to a local hospital. FIRE INVOLVING HAZARDOUS MATERIALS DESTROYS BUSINESS

  Forest Grove Fire & Rescue This afternoon at 1:30, Cornelius Firefighters were dispatched to a reported fire in the 500 block of N 4th Avenue, the business is Thunderbolt Racing Fuel and Summit Foods. Initial reports were that a fuel tank was on fire at a facility that makes ethanol racing fuel. Crews arrived minutes later to find heavy amounts of smoke and fire coming from the fuel processing and storage area of the property. A second alarm was immediately called for to bring in additional crews. Crews initially started to pull hose lines to begin extinguishment. But due to explosions and erratic fire conditions, incident command made the decision to pull all crews back to a safe distance. At this time, we worked with law enforcement to start evacuating local residents (approximately 80 homes) and businesses, as well as a busy Walmart. MAN ARRESTED AFTER SHOOTING AT HALLUCINATIONS

  Salem Police Dept. Salem, Ore.  — On March 9, 2021, at approximately 3:00 p.m. Salem Police officers responded to the 900 block of Norway ST NE on reports of a man shooting a gun in the backyard of a residence. The man then left the area in a vehicle. Officers located the vehicle and detained the man, Martin Abrego, age 27 of Salem. While on-scene, officers noticed the smell of natural gas near the residence. They cordoned off the area and asked for assistance from the Salem Fire Department. Once fire fighters arrived, the gas to the residence was turned off and the residence and surrounding property were checked for injured people. No injured people were found. Detectives responded to the location to assist with interviews and evidence collection. Eventually it was determined Abrego was possibly under the influence of narcotics and hallucinating. UPDATE: MISSING WOMAN'S BODY FOUND IN HAGG LAKE

  Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On Friday, March 12, 2021, just after 2:30 p.m., a boater found a woman’s body in Henry Hagg Lake near Boat Ramp C. Deputies identified the body as 38-year-old Tara Callahan, who had been missing since February 5 in the same area. Ms. Callahan’s body was taken to the Oregon State Medical Examiner’s Office. On Saturday, March 13, an autopsy was performed and the Medical Examiner’s Office ruled Ms. Callahan’s death a suicide.

OSP TROOPER COLLIDES WITH WRONG WAY DRIVER ON INTERSTATE 84 - BAKER COUNTY

  Oregon State Police On Friday, March 12, 2021 at 1:59 P.M., Oregon State Police Dispatch received a report of a wrong way driver on Interstate 84 near milepost 342. The reporting party saw a silver sedan driving westbound in the eastbound lanes. Troopers responded to the area in an attempt to locate the wrong way driver. At 2:04 P.M., a Senior Trooper located the wrong way driver just prior to colliding with it eastbound on Interstate 84 at milepost 327. The driver of the suspect sustained minor injuries and was transported to the hospital for treatment and evaluation. The Senior Trooper was evaluated at the hospital and was released. The suspect was arrested on charges of Attempted Assault II, Reckless Driving and Reckless Endangerment and lodged at the Baker County Jail.  OSP was assisted by the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, Oregon Department of Transportation and the Baker City Ambulance Medical Personnel. 

Daniel Dyer's Body Recovered

 On March 7, 2021 at about 8:17 PM, the Coos County Dispatch Center received a 911 call from near the area of Doerner For Trail outside of Myrtle Point off Burnt Mountain. The caller, 23 year old Hailey Huckabee of Roseburg, reported her boyfriend 33 year old Daniel Dyer had slipped on some rocks and fell into the creek near the falls at approximately 4:15 PM. Hailey tried to help Daniel out of the water and fell in herself. Daniel pushed Hailey back towards the shore where she was able to climb out of the water. Hailey reported she did not see Daniel after she got out of the water. Hailey was extremely wet and lost her shoes in the water.   Hailey hiked nearly four and a half miles barefoot to locate enough cell signal to call 911. Deputies were dispatched to the area and located Hailey at about 10:15 PM. Hailey was experiencing hypothermia and had several injuries to her feet. ARREST MADE FOR POSSESSION OF CHILD PORNOGRAPHY

Sheriff's Office Arrested:  Peter Bryant Hiatt, 72 year old male, Bend (Cloverdale), OR Charges:  Encourage Child Sex Abuse I (59 counts) Encourage Child Sex Abuse II (10 counts).   In February 2021 the Redmond Police Department took a report regarding the possession of child pornography. During their investigation they wrote a search warrant for a computer belonging to Peter Hiatt. They also determined all of the crimes were committed within the jurisdiction of the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office. The case was forwarded to Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office detectives. A DCSO digital forensic detective conducted a forensic examination of the computer and found numerous photographs of child sex abuse. 59 of the photographs are known to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC).   DCSO JAILVIEWER 133.310 - VIOLATION OF RESTRAINING ORDER 164.354 - CRIMINAL MISCHIEF 2ND DEG Child Neglect ll  CASE  #:  211099 Officer responded to Fred Meyer regarding a report of two juveniles left alone inside of a vehicle in the parking lot. Once on scene, the officer located the above mentioned children (ages 7 and 3) left unattended inside of a vehicle. The father, Jason Spradley exited the store a short time later. Jason told me he did not think it was an issue for the children to be left in the vehicle and did not see the dangers.
