SWIMMER AT HENRY HAGG LAKE MISSING AFTER GOING UNDER WATER

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On Monday, January 25, 2022, at 2:17 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a missing swimmer call at Henry Hagg Lake. Deputies were told an adult male had been swimming when family members saw him go under water and fail to resurface. The Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol was on the lake and responded to the area where the swimmer was last seen. Gaston Fire and Rescue also responded to assist. Additionally, deputies contacted Lake Oswego Fire Department’s Dive Team and asked them to assist in searching for the swimmer. Firefighters on the dive team, Gaston Fire members, and deputies searched for the missing swimmer but did not locate him. Due to concerns for the safety of searchers because of the excessive heat, the search was suspended for the evening but will resume in the morning.  The name of the swimmer will be released at a later date.  During the search for the swimmer, Boat Ramp A was closed for several hours. FATAL CRASH ON HWY 30-MULTNOMAH COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Saturday, July 23, 2022 at approximately 12:57 AM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a multi-vehicle motor vehicle crash on Hwy 30 near milepost 12.  Preliminary investigation revealed a westbound gray GMC Sierra, operated by Kody Hansen (24) of Warren, was traveling at a high rate of speed when it left the roadway striking a parked black Audi AA8 occupied by Dale Herren (45) and Jennifer Herren (43) of St. Helens. The GMC then struck two more unoccupied vehicles, a power pole, went over an embankment and struck the front porch of a residence.  Kody Hansen and Dale Herren sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased. Jennifer Herren was transported to a local hospital with injuries.  Hwy 30 was closed for approximately 5 hours. OSP was assisted by Portland Police Bureau, Scappoose Police Department and ODOT. 

FATAL CRASH ON HWY 260-JOSEPHINE COUNTY

Oregon State Police On Sunday, July 24, 2022 at approximately 10:01 PM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a single vehicle crash on Hwy 260 near milepost 15.  Preliminary investigation revealed a westbound black Harley Davidson Sportster motorcycle, operated by Aaron Cizek (37) of Wilderville, left the roadway while negotiating a corner, striking a tree.  Cizek sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased.  Hwy 260 was reduced to one lane for approximately 2 hours.  OSP was assisted by Rural Metro Fire and ODOT.

Multnomah County District Attorney's Office PORTLAND, Oregon – Today, Multnomah County District Attorney Mike Schmidt announced that Scott Groshong, 52, pled guilty to Assault in the Third Degree and Official Misconduct in the First Degree. A Multnomah County Circuit Court judge sentenced him to three years of probation, 80 hours of community service, and a number of conditions including having his DPSST certification revoked. Now retired, Groshong was employed by the Portland Police Bureau and working in that capacity at the time of the incident. During the initial investigation into this incident, which occurred in Portland, Oregon, and in the prosecutorial jurisdiction of this office, the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office identified a conflict of interest. Lane Co. Sheriff's Office Last night just before 5:30pm, the Lane County Sheriff’s Office received a call that a person at Cottage Grove Lake had gone underwater and not resurfaced. The involved, 74 year old Harry McIntire of Cottage Grove, had been reportedly boating with his wife near Primitive Campground prior to the incident. Deputies along with Lane County Sheriff Search and Rescue personnel responded to the scene and searched into the night, however McIntire has not yet been located. The search has resumed this morning. Additional details will be released as they become available. 

PASSENGER KILLED IN ROLLOVER CRASH

Washington Co. Sheriff's Office On Saturday, July 23, 2022, at 9:29 p.m., Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a single vehicle crash in the yard of a residence in the 19300 block of SW Blanton Street in Aloha. Deputies arrived to find a Jeep Wrangler had flipped over and a passenger, 34-year-old Sean Michael Hogan, was deceased.  During the investigation, deputies learned that the Jeep was being driven on private property during a party at a home. The Jeep, which appeared to be modified for off-road use, tipped over and Hogan fell out of the vehicle, sustaining fatal injuries. The driver was transported to an area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators from the Crash Analysis and Reconstruction Team (CART) responded to lead the investigation, which is on-going to determine the cause of the crash.  Hogan’s family was notified of his death. TRAFFIC STOP LEADS TO DRUG BUST

Readsport Police K9'9 On 06/22/22 at approximately 1445 hours, Trooper Napper with the Oregon State Police conducted a traffic stop on a white California plated Honda Civic near the 200 block of Highway 42 in coquille as a result of an ongoing investigation lead by Corporal Snyder, Reedsport Police.  Through the investigation, probable cause was developed that the male owner/occupant was delivering a large amount of illegal narcotics to the Coos Bay area, resulting in the deployment of K9 Penny. K9 Penny was deployed to the exterior of the vehicle and gave a positive alert to the odor of narcotics. A search of the vehicle yielded over 12 pounds of methamphetamine, nearly 1000 counterfeit fentanyl laced oxycodone tablets and a loaded 9mm handgun, making it one of the largest drug bust in Coos County history. Portland Police Bureau On July 24, 2022, at 8:39 a.m., a Public Safety Support Specialist (PS3) responded to a stolen vehicle call in the 15300 block of Southeast Powell Boulevard. When the PS3 arrived at the location he saw subjects around the vehicle, a blue pickup truck. As the vehicle was now a possibly occupied stolen vehicle, the PS3 requested an officer respond to the location. An officer from the East Precinct responded to assist and investigate. Sometime during the investigation, a suspect got into the vehicle and attempted to flee, striking the officer with the stolen car. The suspect then hit another vehicle, which was occupied by two people. The officer was transported to an area hospital with serious, non-life-threatening injuries. An elderly female passenger from the other vehicle was transported to an area hospital with unknown injuries. Josephine County Sheriff's Office On July 22, 2022, at approximately 10:30 AM, Henry Buchler left his residence off Stewart Road in Grants Pass. Buchler was pushing a large black laundry cart full of personal items. Grand Jury Finds Salem Officers Justified in July 13, 2022 Shooting Incident

Marion Co. Dist. Attorney's Office Today a Marion County Grand Jury unanimously found that three Salem Police Officers were justified in the shooting death of 16-year-old Robert Brown on the evening of July 13, 2022. The following evidence was heard by the Grand Jury: The Salem Police Department obtained an arrest warrant signed by Marion County Circuit Court Judge Donald D. Abar for the arrest of Brown finding probable cause to believe he was responsible for a recent downtown shooting on June 13, 2022 in which another person was injured.  Salem Police further had probable cause to believe that Brown was the perpetrator of an earlier shooting at the Salem Center Mall on March 18, 2022 which also left a victim injured.  Both detailed investigations led to Brown as the identified suspect.  Salem detectives had been monitoring Brown’s location and surveilling his actions in the days leading up to July 13, 2022.  Investigators had reason to believe Brown was armed and a likely continua

Sheriff's Office UPDATE:  July 22, 2022, 4:45 p.m., the Oregon State Medical Examiners Office has confirmed the deceased female found in Cow Creek on July 13th is 18 year old Kendra Marie Hanks of Winston. ***End of Update*** RIDDLE, Ore.  - A Riddle man has been arrested in connection with the disappearance and murder of 18-year-old Kendra Hanks of Winston. On Thursday, July 21, 2022, at approximately 3:30 p.m., detectives with the Douglas County Sheriff's Office along with investigators from the Douglas County Major Crimes Team contacted 39-year-old Troy Russell Phelps of Riddle at a residence in the 1500-block of Pruner Road in Riddle. Phelps had become a person of interest in the investigation into the disappearance of Hanks. Phelps was taken into custody after speaking with Detectives. LURING ARREST

Grants Pass Police Department Detectives, assisted by GPPD Patrol officers, arrested 40-year-old William Manly for the listed charges.  This was the result of a luring case being investigated by the detectives. Manly was arrested after he agreed to meet with a minor female for the purpose of a sexual encounter.  Manly was arrested without incident and lodged in the Josephine County Jail.  The Grants Pass Police Department reminds parents to be aware of any unusual activity involving their children who are on social media.  These types of cases are being referred to our agency frequently so we encourage parents to know who is interacting with their children.  In this case, our detectives were able to intervene prior to any harm occurring in this case. DROWNING AT APPLEGATE LAKE

JCSO Case #22-4218 APPLEGATE LAKE, Ore- On 072122, at 2033 hours, Emergency Communications of Southern Oregon-911 received a report of a possible drowning at Applegate Lake. Applegate Fire District #9 personnel and Jackson County Sheriff’s Office patrol deputies and Marine units responded. Deputies learned that a group of teenage males had been jumping into the lake off of the dam. When one jumped and entered the water he did not return to the surface. The others attempted to locate him in the water and contacted 911. Deputies searched the area and suspended the search after a few hours due to darkness.  On 072222 at 0924 hours, deputies found the victim in the lake. The victim is a 16 year-old male from Central Point, Oregon.

UTIES ARREST DUII MOTORCYCLIST DRIVING RECKLESSLY

Sheriff's Office Over the past several days, law enforcement officers from the Washington County Sheriff's Office and the Hillsboro Police Department have witnessed and received complaints about a motorcycle driving recklessly on Hwy 26 westbound during the early morning hours. At times, law enforcement spotted a motorcycle traveling more than 124 mph. Due to the excessive speeds and concerns for the public, law enforcement officers did not initiate a pursuit of the motorcycle when they witnessed it traveling at excessive speeds. This morning, Sheriff's Office deputies, Washington County Sheriff’s Office’s Air Support Unit, and Hillsboro Police Department officers focused their attention on Hwy 26 in an attempt to stop the motorcyclist from continuing to drive recklessly.  At 5:24 a.m., a deputy from the Air Support Unit witnessed a black motorcycle traveling on Hwy 26 westbound, weaving in and out of traffic, lane splitting, and going over 100 mph. Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On July 21, 2022, the Josephine Marijuana Enforcement Team (JMET) with the assistance of Rogue Area Drug Enforcement (RADE) and Oregon State Police Southwest Region Drug Enforcement Section Team (SWRDEST), executed a search warrant in the 5000 block of Lakeshore Drive in Selma regarding an illegal marijuana grow site. During the execution of the warrant, approximately 12,000 marijuana plants were seized and destroyed which were located inside multiple greenhouses on the property. In addition to the growing marijuana plants, approximately 1,000 pounds of processed marijuana was located in an outbuilding. JAIL OVERDOSE

Josephine Co. Sheriff's Office On July 21, 2022 at approximately 10:25 AM, an Adult In Custody (AIC) at the Josephine County Jail was found to exhibit signs of fentanyl ingestion and potential overdose.  Deputies and medical staff within the jail began immediate treatment at which time a second AIC was found to have symptoms consistent with fentanyl overdose.  Immediate care was also provided to the second AIC and both were transported to an area hospital.  Both AIC’s are in stable condition and are expected to make a full recovery.   It has been determined that drugs were smuggled into the facility by an AIC who shared them with a second AIC.  Criminal charges will be sought for all parties involved with introduction of contraband into the jail and possession of controlled substances.     This incident remains under investigation and additional details are not available.

District Attorney's Office HILLSBORO, Ore.- On July 21, 2022, Senior Judge Gary Williams found Steven Christopher Teets guilty of misdemeanor criminal mischief in the second degree following a bench trial conducted the previous day. Judge Williams then sentenced the defendant to 24 months of probation. Senior Deputy District Attorney Andrew Freeman prosecuted the case.  In the early morning hours of October 31, 2020, a family in Forest Grove was awoken by Mr. Teets setting off the car alarms of the vehicles parked in their driveway. Mr. Teets, who was employed as a Forest Grove Police Officer but off duty at the time, then approached the family at their front door in an aggressive manner. As the family repeatedly told him to leave, Mr. Teets instead yelled, broke items on the porch, and pounded on the locked door. Jackson County Sheriff's Office JCSO Case 22-4197, MPD Case 22-0012119 WHITE CITY, Ore. – A call for a stolen trailer located in White City led to Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) deputies discovering a van loaded with black-market cannabis. JCSO deputies responded to the 8300 block of Barbur Street in White City this afternoon to recover a trailer stolen out of Medford June 6. When deputies arrived, a Dodge van loaded with what appeared to be marijuana in garbage bags was parked in front of the residence. Deputies attained a search warrant and seized 462 lbs. of processed black-market cannabis. Illegal Marijuana Enforcement Team (IMET) detectives responded to assist. Two suspects were identified, arrested, and lodged in the Jackson County Jail. LINN COUNTY DRUG DEALER SENTENCED TO FEDERAL PRISON

  U.S. Attorney's Office - District of Oregon EUGENE, Ore.—A Linn County, Oregon man was sentenced to federal prison today after he sold methamphetamine and a firearm to an undercover federal agent while on federal supervised release for a previous conviction. Roger Lee Bishop, 56, a resident of Sweet Home, Oregon, was sentenced to 84 months in federal prison and five years of supervised release. According to court documents, in August 2019, law enforcement learned that Bishop, a convicted felon, was trafficking methamphetamine in Linn County and had access to firearms. On or about September 12, 2019, an undercover federal agent arranged to meet Mr. Bishop and an accomplice at a hotel in Corvallis, Oregon to purchase methamphetamine. Once Mr. Bishop entered the hotel room, he proceeded to sell approximately four ounces of methamphetamine to the agent. Rural Metro Fire - Josephine County Fire crews made great progress overnight with lining the #CheneyCreekFire, seen south of Grants Pass and Wilderville above the Marble Mountain Quarry.  As of this morning, more crews are headed up to continue the containment and mop-up of the fire that is estimated at just under 30 acres.  Please follow ODF Southwest Oregon District for detailed information on fire containment and progress.  The cause of the fire is under investigation. The fire will continue to have visible smoke on the top of the ridge until mop-up is completed (as seen in this picture this morning viewed from Fish Hatchery Road).  Aircraft will also be seen overhead as they use bucket drops to aid in mop-up in the steep terrain.  This is normal activity and is no cause for alarm.
