Injured Mountain Biker Rescued Near Swampy Lakes Snow Park

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office  - 10/21/18 On 10/21/18 at about 3:48 pm, the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Search and Rescue unit received a 911 call from Tom Mazaitis, who reported that a juvenile mountain biker in his party had fallen and sustained injury on a trail in the forest about three miles northwest of the Swampy Lakes Snow park. One Deschutes County Sheriff Search and Rescue volunteer with the SAR medical team initially responded to the scene to evaluate and treat the juvenile. While the juvenile was being treated, 11 additional DCSO SAR volunteers responded to the scene to assist. DCSO SAR volunteers then transported the juvenile to the Swampy Lakes Trailhead via wheeled litter where they met the Bend Fire Department. The juvenile was then transported to St. Charles Bend by ambulance to receive treatment for non-life threatening injuries. Lincoln County Sheriff's Office seeking information regarding intentional vehicle fire in Waldport, Oregon

Lincoln Co. Sheriff's Office  - 10/21/18  The Lincoln County Sheriff's Office is seeking the public's assistance in regards to an intentional unoccupied vehicle fire in the area of the 100 block of NW Huckleberry Street in Waldport. Fatal vehicle crash on Hwy 42 - Coos County

Oregon State Police  - 10/21/18  On Saturday, October 20, 2018 at approximately 4:00 PM. Oregon State Police and emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle crash on Hwy 42 near milepost 33 in Coos County. Preliminary investigation revealed that a 1998 Toyota Tacoma, operated by Thomas Wagner (28) from Coquille,  was westbound on Hwy 42 when it crossed into the eastbound lanes and struck a 2004 Chevy 2500 (pulling an ATV trailer), operated by Dwayne Stockton (44) from Roseburg.   Wagner, who was not wearing his safety belt,  sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased. Passengers in the Toyota Tacoma, Katelyn Wiley (26) from Broadbent and Blaine Monson(23) from Myrtle Point were both transported with injuries. Neither were wearing safety belts. Fatal Motor Vehicle Crash on US 26 near SE Canyon Valley Road -- Clackamas County

Oregon State Police  - 10/20/18  On October 20, 2018 at approximately 3:40pm, the Oregon State Police responded to a fatal motor vehicle crash on US Highway 26 near the intersection of SE Canyon Valley Road, within Clackamas County. Preliminary investigation revealed that a maroon 2000 Toyota Tundra pickup, operated by Donald J. EDWARDS, age 77 of Estacada, was traveling eastbound on US 26 just west of milepost 26.5, in Sandy. While executing a left onto SE Canyon Valley Road, the operator of the Toyota turned directly in the path of a black 2017 Honda VT1 motorcycle, operated by Nicholas C. IRWIN, age 24 of Rhododendron, which was traveling westbound. The Honda motorcycle rider was unable to avoid the collision and collided into the side Toyota. IRWIN sustained fatal injuries as a result of the crash after lifesaving measures were made by medical personnel. Both occupants were utilizing safe devices at the time of the collision. Death Investigation on NE Sierra Drive

Bend Police Dept.  - 10/20/18 On Saturday October 20th at 01:23am, Bend Police received calls from the neighbors in the 20000 block of NE Sierra Drive for the report of “shots heard.” The information from the neighbors helped the officers triangulate where the most likely place the gun shots came from. The involved person (31 year old Bend resident), called Deschutes County 911 to advise he had shot a male inside of his residence. Based on the community phone calls and a statement from the involved person, officers went to a specific address in the 20000 block of Sierra Drive. Bend Police Officers then made contact with the involved person. Two males were found inside the residence; both had sustained gunshot wounds. A 31 year old male was found deceased. A 27 year old male was found with life threatening injuries and transported to St. Charles Bend by Bend Fire and Rescue. The male later died at St. Charles Bend. Vehicle vs. Pedestrian Fatal Crash on Oregon Route 86 - Baker County

Oregon State Police  - 10/20/18  On Friday, October 19, 2018, at about 5:12 p.m., a fatal crash occurred on Oregon Route 86, milepost 2.5, near Baker City.  The location was just east of Interstate 84, milepost 302 interchange.  Preliminary information revealed that Dennis Tim CHENEY, age 59, of Walla Walla, WA, had parked his 1998 Dodge Pickup and large flatbed trailer on the westbound shoulder facing Interstate 84 and was outside his vehicle checking the air pressure in his vehicle trailer tires. A 2016 Jeep SUV, operated by Adrienne Marie LARSEN, age 32, of Boise, ID, was traveling westbound on Oregon Route 86 when her vehicle crossed the right fog line and struck CHENEY.  CHENEY sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene.  LARSEN was not injured and was taken into custody.  She was lodged at the Baker County Jail for DUII, Manslaughter 1 and 2, Criminally Negligent Homicide, Reckless Endangerment, and additional charges may be considered.  Oregon Route 8

GRANTS PASS MAN IN CUSTODY FOLLOWING VEHICLE PURSUIT

Sheriff's Office October 19th, 2018  GLENDALE, Ore. -  A Grants Pass man found himself in jail after he led deputies on a pursuit in Glendale early Friday morning.  37 year-old Jason Edmund Dangerfield failed to stop when a deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop and tried to elude deputies in a 2010 Chevy Malibu on Glendale Valley Road. The pursuit ended in the 1000-block of Tunnel Road when Dangerfield attempted to flee on foot. He was apprehended a short time later by deputies.  Dangerfield was lodged at the Douglas County Jail on charges of Attempt to Elude Police in Vehicle and Attempt to Elude Police on foot.

Redmond Police Seek Whereabouts of Michael Tallman (Bremont)

Redmond Police Dept.  - 10/18/18  Redmond, OR – The Redmond Police Department is turning to the public for help in locating Michael Tallman, formerly known as Michael Bremont.  Tallman has also used the name “Jacob Straib.”  A trial was set to begin on Tuesday, October 23, on ten counts of Sex Abuse in the Second Degree.  Tallman was indicted on these crimes earlier this year and released from custody with the condition he wears a GPS ankle bracelet, pending the trial date.  The GPS ankle bracelet has been recovered and Tallman's whereabouts are unknown.  A warrant has been issued for his arrest.  It is believed Tallman has or is about to flee the state. Tallman is the former director of the Redmond Proficiency Academy in Redmond, Oregon, and used the name Michael Bremont at the time.  In 2011, Tallman was arrested and ultimately convicted of several sex crimes involving two underage students.  Tallman was sentenced to prison and was released at the end of the prison term.  Th

Vehicle Pursuit and K9 Capture

Douglas Co. Sheriffs  October 18th, 2018  ROSEBURG, Ore.  - Deputies were investigating a report of a stolen vehicle Wednesday night, when the vehicle was spotted on Amber Lane at about 11:50 pm. The deputy attempted to conduct a traffic stop on the Chevy pickup, but the driver led deputies on a pursuit out Happy Valley Road. An assisting deputy was able to successfully deploy spike strips, flattening the front tires. The driver lost control of the vehicle near Steinhauer. Both the driver and passenger fled on foot.  The driver, 28 year-old James Edward Hougland of Roseburg, was located by deputies hiding in a dried creek bed. Stolen Vehicle Recovered in Bend; Two Arrested

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office  - 10/16/18 On October 16, 2018, at approximately 10:52am, deputies with the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to a reported suspicious vehicle parked in the area on Highway 97, near Suzanne Lane in Bend.  A passing motorist reported a pearl colored Cadillac Escalade parked off the side of the roadway. Deputies and DCSO Street Crimes Unit detectives responded to the area and after observing the license plate on the vehicle, confirmed the Escalade was reported stolen on October 15th from within the City of Redmond, Oregon.  When deputies were checking the vehicle, two subjects were observed asleep inside. Deputies performed a high risk contact of the two occupants and ordered them out of the vehicle one at a time.  Both subjects complied with the deputies and were subsequently taken into custody.  Shawn Ison and Autumn Blundell were then transported to the Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Adult Jail where each was lodged on one

Semi Truck loaded with cattle crashes on I-84 - Union County

Oregon State Police  - 10/16/18  Investigation revealed that a 2012 Peterbilt semi truck, being operated by Shannon Dwinell (46) of Great Bend, KS, was westbound on I-84 when for unknown reasons left the roadway, struck the guardrail, and overturned.   Dwinell sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. The stock trailer was loaded with 28 cattle, 5 died as a result of the crash. Oregon State Police and emergency personnel are on scene of a single vehicle semi truck crash on I-84 near milepost 284 westbound.   A commercial motor vehicle hauling cattle has struck a guardrail and flipped over on Interstate 84 - 2 miles west of North Powder.   The operator sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Several cattle escaped and are loose on the freeway, unfortunately several cattle also died in the crash. Investigation is continuing no more information to be released at this time.  

Two vehicle fatal crash on Hwy 99W north of Eugene - Lane County

Oregon State Police  - 10/16/18  On Monday, October 15, 2018 at approximately 6:35 PM. Oregon State Troopers and emergency personnel responded to a two vehicle crash on Hwy 99W near milepost 117 - approximately 2 miles north of Eugene. Investigation revealed that a 2005 Toyota Prius, operated by Sandra Boynton (78) from Eugene, was attempting to turn left onto Hwy 99W from a private driveway.  Boynton turned in front of a northbound 2005 Ford Explorer, operated by Rebecca Weston (34) from Eugene.   Boynton and her passenger Gail Purkerson (74) from Eugene both sustained fatal injuries and were pronounced deceased at the scene.  Weston and her juvenile male passenger received minor injuries. Oregon State Police were assisted by the Lane County Sheriff's Office, Lane County Fire and ODOT.

VEHICLE VERSES TRAIN

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office October 16th, 2018  ROSEBURG, Ore.  - On Monday, October 15, 2018, dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call reporting a vehicle that had been struck by a train in the 3200-block of Old Highway 99 South.  Emergency services responded to the crash. Deputies learned that 81 year-old Roseburg resident Earl Jensen was exiting a driveway and stopped on the railroad tracks in his 2015 Ford Taurus. He did not observe the northbound Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad train that was approaching. Unable to stop, the train struck Jensen's vehicle, which caused the vehicle to be pushed forward several feet into a tree.  Jensen was transported to Mercy Medical Center by ambulance with minor injuries. The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by Douglas County Fire District #2, Winston-Dillard Fire Department and Central Oregon & Pacific Railroad. 

Two Jailed Following Pursuit

Jackson Co. Sheriff's Office  - 10/15/18  JACKSON COUNTY, Ore. – Two people are in jail following a pursuit on rural roadways Sunday night.  In apparent attempts to hinder Jackson County Sheriff's Office (JCSO) deputies, the driver swerved toward oncoming vehicles, ramming one JCSO patrol car.  At one point, the passenger threw a bicycle into the roadway from the moving vehicle. The suspect driver, Christopher Michael Rock, 35, is lodged in the Jackson County jail on the following charges:  attempting to elude police in a vehicle, attempting to elude police on foot, reckless driving, recklessly endangering another person, failure to perform the duties of a driver when property is damaged (hit and run), first degree criminal trespass, and two counts of first degree criminal mischief.  Rock’s bail was set at $47,000 at lodging, plus a no-bail hold for a parole violation. The passenger, Susan Anne Medcalf, 49, was lodged in jail on charges of first degree criminal trespass

The Douglas County Major Crimes team investigated the death of one year old Remington Engler on 06-21-18. The purpose of this conference is to update the public on the investigation.

CRASH CLAIMS THE LIFE OF WINSTON MAN

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office October 15th, 2018  RIDDLE, Ore . - A crash Sunday evening claimed the life of a Winston man. Dispatchers received a 9-1-1 call of a single vehicle crash in the 2000-block of Cow Creek Road near Riddle at about 8:16 PM. The Sheriff's Office determined the vehicle had been operated by 32 year-old Thomas W. Rynearson of Winston. The preliminary investigation indicates Rynearson was driving a 2004 Ford F350 toward Riddle when his vehicle left the roadway and rolled several times. Rynearson was pronounced deceased at the scene. Speed appears to be a contributing factor.  The Douglas County Medical Examiner's Office also responded to the scene. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to speak with deputies by calling 541-440-4471 and reference case #18-4592. The Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Oregon State Police, Riddle Fire Department, Bay Cities Ambulance and Bill's Towing.

Klondike Fire declared a conflagration

Oregon State Fire Marshal  - 10/15/18  Governor Kate Brown has declared the Klondike Fire, burning near Agness, a conflagration. The declaration cleared the way for the State Fire Marshal to mobilize firefighters and equipment to assist local resources battling the fire. The Office of State Marshal’s Red Incident Management Team led by Chief Ian Yocum, and five structural task forces from Lane, Rogue Valley, Linn, Benton, and Marion counties will arrive early this afternoon.  Three task forces will be assigned to day shift and two will be working the night shift.  A level 3 "GO" evacuation is in effect for the Oak Flats and Spud Road areas of the Agness community. Redmond DUII Driver Crashes Into Canal

Redmond Police Dept.  - 10/14/18  REDMOND, OR – On Saturday, October 13, 2018, at about 11:10 p.m., Redmond Police Officers observed a vehicle driving recklessly near the intersection of SW Pumice Ave and SW Canal Blvd. This section of SW Canal Blvd is closed, part of the SW Canal Blvd reconstruction project. Officers observed the vehicle strike a telephone pole and a parked water truck.  Additionally, the vehicle was operating dangerously close to a group of juvenile pedestrians that were also in the area. Officers walked into the area on foot as access to the road is heavily barricaded and attempted to contact the driver, who immediately sped off. The vehicle, a 2006 Dodge pickup truck was found a few minutes later crashed into the COID canal near the intersection of SW Reindeer Ave and SW Canal Blvd. The outside temperature at the time of the crash was below freezing, and the canal is currently filled with water. Myrtle Creek Police 10/14/18 On August 18, 2018, The Myrtle Creek Police Department began an investigation into William Callahan, 55, of Roseburg, after he contacted someone he thought was juvenile female on social media. That juvenile was actually a Myrtle Creek Police officer. During their online conversations, Callahan tried several times to get the female to send him nude photos of herself. Callahan sent the girl photos of his exposed genitals on more than one occasion, along with using graphic sexual talk with the girl. On October 12, 2018, at about 7:00 PM, MCPD, along with assistance from Oregon State Police Troopers, served a search warrant at Callahan’s residence on Oak Hill Road in Roseburg. Callahan was taken into custody when he was located on the property. Other evidence was also seized at the scene. Gresham Police Dept  - 10/14/18  Gresham, Ore.— A local business fell victim to theft when the male pictured below walked in the doors of Eastside Music located at 21977 SE Stark ST. The business’s security cameras capture the suspect as he enters the store and asks where the guitar picks area located. The suspect has time to casually sit down and play one of the electric keyboards on display before walking over to a wall where he selects a black LTD electric guitar. He then disappears into a room only to emerge moments later with a coat draped over the now stolen guitar. The suspect walks out of business and appears to travel westbound on SE Stark ST. Anyone with information related to the suspect’s identity is encouraged to contact the Gresham Police Department.

Crime Stoppers Featured Case #18-32 - Andrew Hathaway Homicide

Crime Stoppers of Oregon  - 10/11/18  The Portland Police Bureau, in partnership with Crime Stoppers of Oregon, is asking for the public's help to solve the homicide of Andrew Hathaway. On Wednesday, September 5, 2018, at 1:01 a.m., Portland Fire and Rescue personnel responded to the report of a vehicle fire in the 6200 block of North Marine Drive. As firefighters battled the car fire, they located what was believed to be a deceased person inside the vehicle, which was a white 2003 Chevrolet Impala. Portland Police Bureau Homicide detectives responded to the scene to conduct a death investigation. The Oregon State Medical Examiner identified the deceased as 28-year-old Andrew Patrick Hathaway of Milwaukie and determined that he died of homicidal violence. Oregon State Police  - 10/10/18 On Tuesday, October 9, 2018, at approximately 8:07 AM, Oregon State Police Troopers and emergency personnel responded to the report of a single vehicle crash on Lone Rock Road near mile post 13 in Gilliam County. Preliminary investigation revealed a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe, operated by Karen Buell (62) of Condon, was traveling eastbound on Lone Rock Road when, for unknown reasons, left the roadway and rolled down a steep embankment.  Buell sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced deceased at the scene. Preliminary investigation revealed that the deer was shot once from Panther Creek Road (a spur road off 12-mile road about 3.5 miles from West Fork Cow Creek Road). Oregon State Police requesting public's assistance in waste of bull elk in Wheeler County

Oregon State Police  - 10/09/18  The Oregon State Police Fish & Wildlife Division is asking for the public's help to identify the person(s) responsible for shooting and wasting a 4x5 bull elk in the Ochoco Unit southeast of Mitchell in Wheeler County.  The elk was located off of USFS Road 12 near USFS Road 42.    The elk was discovered on October 1, 2018 and reported to OSP Fish and Wildlife Troopers.  It was determined the elk had been killed 48 hours before discovery.  The animal had been shot, gutted, and then left to waste - no meat was taken. Clackamas Co. Sheriff's Office  - 10/09/18 Please reference CCSO Case # 18-027619 The Clackamas County Sheriff`s Office is currently conducting a  Search and Rescue  (SAR) operation on Mt. Hood for missing/injured hiker  David Yaghmourian . Mr. Yaghmourian, 30, of Phoenix, AZ, was reportedly hiking the Timberline Trail with a companion and sustained an injury to his leg. On the last day of the hike (Monday, October 8, 2018), Mr. Yaghmourian stopped to rest while they were returning to  Timberline Lodge . His companion continued on to the lodge and waited for him there. Mr. Yaghmourian was last seen at the eastern junction of the Timberline Trail at the Pacific Crest Trail. He is described as follows: 30 years old Black hair, brown eyes 5'10" tall, 150 lbs. Last seen wearing a tan baseball cap, black Columbia jacket and tan pants, with a large black backpack with red trim and what appeared to be a yellow towel on top. Shooting Investigation and Arrest

Douglas Co. Sheriff's Office  - 10/09/18  On Tuesday, October 09, 2018, at about 0100 hours, the 911 center received a call reporting a shooting had just occurred at the Valley View Mobile Home Park, located at 200 Emil’s Way, Roseburg, Oregon.  Deputies from the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Roseburg and Winston Police Departments responded to the scene. Initial reports indicated that an argument was occurring in one of the trailers that involved 30 year old Ricky Gibbons, of Roseburg.  While this was going on, 34 year old Nicholas McElmurry, also of Roseburg, arrived at the trailer and became involved in the argument.  Nicholas McElmurry then shot  Ricky Gibbons, and fled the scene. Ricky Gibbons was taken by ambulance to Mercy Medical Center, where he was initially treated before being transported to Riverbend Hospital in Springfield.  His current condition is unknown, but his injuries are believed to be non-life-threatening. Four Arrested After Vehicle Pursuit and Foot Chase. Stolen Gun and Drugs Recovered

Deschutes Co. Sheriff's Office  - 10/09/18 Bend, OR – Four people arrested after a brief vehicle pursuit, crash into a railway embankment and foot pursuit. DCSO Deputies later recovered a stolen pistol, methamphetamine and heroin during their arrests.   On October 8, 2018 a Deschutes County Sheriff’s Office Deputy was driving in the area of SE Wilson Ave and SE Third St in the City of Bend. At the same time, the Deputy noticed a brown Nissan Altima began driving suspiciously through a parking lot and avoiding the patrolling DCSO Deputy. The Altima left the retail shopping center parking lot without yielding to oncoming traffic on Third St. The Deputy activated his emergency lights and siren to conduct a traffic stop for the violation. The Nissan sped away before quickly turning onto SE Miller Ave. The Nissan came to a stop when turned into a dead end right-of-way used by Burlington Northern Railway. It appeared the Nissan was trying to cross up and over the railroad tracks. A
